Piccadilly Posh Template Support Thread

lavendersblue:

Hi,
I have had my website up and running fine for a few years, a few weeks ago I kept getting an error message, contacted my host and they eventually sorted it out (guessing they had upgraded a server software) but they won't say. Since then my home page formatting is bizarre, the text is too big and is pushing everything out of line, but this is only on the category pages. If I go to 'New Products' or Featured Products it is fine. Any ideas how to fix this? Here are the links;
http://thecandleandcardco.com/index.php?main_page=index
New Products page which is ok; http://thecandleandcardco.com/index.php?main_page=products_new

From a quick look, I am not seeing the fix. You do have quite a lot of validation errors so if it were me, I would start there.

Since your site is not mobile friendly, I would recommend switching to a mobile friendly/responsive template package. Google is now penalizing sites in search rankings that are not mobile friendly.

The Westminster New, Winchester Black, Winchester Responsive, and Responsive Sheffield Blue v2.0 are my most recently updated and advanced responsive template packages. They can be all be used as a 1, 2, or 3 column layout, with or without the left/right columns on the home page.

Thanks,

Anne

Re: Piccadilly Posh Template Support Thread

Hi Anne
I sorted it out, I had made some changes to; includes/index_filters/default_filter.php to change the sort order of my products to show the newest product first and for some reason it was messing up the formatting.

I understand what you are saying about the mobile friendly templates, but I and all my customers love my website and I really don't have time to start trying to make one of the responsive templates look like my existing website. To be honest I am more likely to consider not using Zen cart if I change again, I find the constant updates a nightmare, particularly when I have quite a few add ons that need to be redone every time I upgrade, I need something much more simple to use.

If you are using zen cart best practices, you should not need to re install plugins for every minor version upgrade.

Thanks,

Anne
