Blank page in the Checkout Payment area

I have a two language site and am having a problem in the English checkout area. I seem to have missed transferring something as when I get to this step:

http://store151.gpea.jp/index.php?main_page=checkout_payment

I end up with a blank page and can't go any further. The Japanese side works without a problem (well there are some issues but I will deal with them later...). Have spent quite a bit of time trying to narrow down what it might be by comparing the English and Japanese sides but I cannot work out where the code difference is…

I found this error message in logs file but am not sure what to make of it:

[28-Mar-2013 15:08:22 US/Central] PHP Warning: constant() [<a href='function.constant'>function.constant</a>]: Couldn't find constant BOX_HEADING_ADMIN_ACCESS in /home/gpea/public_html/store151.gpea.jp/admin2859pUu/includes/functions/admin_access.php on line 816

Any help would be appreciated...

Reload your admin files from a fresh distribution of the same version

Peace Freak:

Couldn't find constant BOX_HEADING_ADMIN_ACCESS
That will be defined in your language files. If your japanese translation files don't have the defines in them, then you'll need to copy over anything from the english version that's missing from your japanese version.

Could you please clarify things for me?

My final version of Zen Cart before upgrading to 1.5.1 was 1.3.5.

Should I upload my 1.3.5 adjusted admin files or the admin files from a newly downloaded version of 1.3.5?

Thank you!

If you have upgraded to 1.5.1 then reload admin files from a fresh distribution of 1.5.1

Just copied a fresh copy over my "modified" version but no change, still a blank window.

As a further test I removed my admin folder and uploaded a fresh copy of an admin folder from an unmodified version of 1.5.1. Still a blank window!

I am not sure what to make of Dr.Bytes comments below on the error message in the log file. The Japanese side is working fine. It is the English side that gets stuck at the blank window...

Thanks in advance...

Re: Blank page in the Checkout Payment area

/index.php?main_page=checkout_payment
Well I need to read - cause you posted that you are getting a blank page on the frontend
But your error log posted is about accessing your admin

Can not see your site - but try switching to the classic template(assuming you have a custom template defined) to see if you still get a blank page
If you do not - then this narrows down the search to only those files in your custom template

Re: Blank page in the Checkout Payment area

Thanks for your help...

Tried with the classic template... Exactly the same... Japanese works fine, English goes to a blank page, so it looks like it is not the custom template...

As for the error file I include previously, I just chose the last one (at that time)...

I just took a look and found some different ones in the folder so I have attached them. Hopefully they will be of use.

If you need to know the URL of the site, let me know.

Thank you!

Re: Blank page in the Checkout Payment area

includes/modules/payment/moneyorder2

Try removing in the admin moneyorder2 as a payment method
This is not part of a default install

Re: Blank page in the Checkout Payment area

Am slowly making some progress on this, though not yet there...

Removed the moneyorder2 and found no change in the E side, but in the J side I get this message when I get to main_page=checkout_payment:

Sorry, we are not accepting payments from your region at this time.
Please contact us for alternate arrangements.

As I recall, when I was setting the cart up originally (2006) I had to get help from a local American here (Japan) who at that time was one of the few people that had "sorted out" the different language and payment problems. (I tried contacting him before starting this upgrade but got no reply...)

I don't know what to make of all this as I only have a cursory knowledge of php but as the code in moneyorder2 works for the J side, I think it might be a good idea if you take a look at it so it is attached. It might give you some clues.

Thanks again!

What payment methods do you have installed??

What, if any zones are they linked to?

Re: Blank page in the Checkout Payment area

Making some progress, albeit slowly, which is no problem... It has been so long since this was configured that I am trying to piece it all together.

Apparantly the J system is set up using the moneyorder2 module, which from what I can gather is a modified check/moneyorder module. I am not sure but the E side might have to use the other moneyorder module, which probably incorporated English content.

How the system worked was, once an order was placed the module would let them know the order number, what was bought, and give them the company bank account information. (Such bank transfers are safe, secure and quite popular here.) A confirmation email was also sent out. I remember setting up a paypal module as well and it might have functioned but as so few people in Japan use paypal I think we turned it off...

Digging around a bit more I discovered that in the admin/payment modules area, if I switch languages and compare, the E side has less modules listed and there is no panel for editing the modules!! I have attached pictures so you can see exactly what I mean... The E side has no green button indicating a working payment system and because there is no edit panel, nothing can be turned on.

I hope this info will bring us a little closer to getting this sorted out...

Thank you!

When the modules screen doesn't finish drawing properly, it means you've got mismatched module files.

Sigh ... modules consist of two parts: the module and its language file. THEY MUST ALWAYS HAVE EQUAL PAIRS.
EVERY filename in your /includes/modules/payment/ folder MUST HAVE A CORRESPONDING filename in ALL OF your /includes/languages/EVERY_LANGUAGE/modules/payment/ folders. And vice-versa.
If there is a mismatch OR if there is a PHP error in ANY of the files (language files or module files), then the page won't finish drawing.
While v1.5.0 and v1.5.1 try to ignore mismatches, they can't ignore PHP errors contained within the files.
The PHP errors should show up in your logs folder.

So ..... to go back a few posts, you mentioned that you had a "moneyorder2" module which was only for japanese .... but if you don't have a moneyorder2.php language file in ALL of your languages, then it does trigger errors. (Again, v1.5.x should simply display an error message, but if your modules are from older versions, or if a few other problems exist, it may simply throw a PHP error and die.)

Re: Blank page in the Checkout Payment area

Thank you for clarifying this. So from what you are saying, my strategy to resolve this might be to firstly compare the English and Japanese language files and modules. As the Japanese ones are functional, I should use them as a basis for making new English ones.

If you could narrow down the modules I should be comparing (or anything else I should try...) that would be a great help.

Thanks in advance...

Re: Blank page in the Checkout Payment area

If your problem is on the Admin->Modules->Payment screen, then you need to look in the folders I mentioned in my last post:
/includes/modules/payment/
/includes/languages/EVERY_LANGUAGE/modules/payment/

Repeat for shipping and for order_totals

Re: Blank page in the Checkout Payment area

Could you post your cloned Check/Money Order moneyorder for moneyorder2.php as it almost sounds like this was not cloned right and it would help to rule out that issue as well ...

Thanks...

Re: Blank page in the Checkout Payment area

That cloned moneyorder2.php appears to be fine ... I am assuming you have a file for:
/includes/languages/english/modules/payment/moneyorder.php
/includes/languages/ANY_OTHER_LANGUAGE/modules/payment/moneyorder.php

as well as:
/includes/languages/english/modules/payment/moneyorder2.php
/includes/languages/ANY_OTHER_LANGUAGE/modules/payment/moneyorder2.php

Are you getting any other debug logs when you try to go through checkout?
