Re: Header Drop Down cart

Who knows :) I don't know how that looks like in Opencart, because I do not use it. Maybe you have a screenshot or can be more specific in your description

There is an insert image option in the icon bar above text-area where you type your message

Re: Header Drop Down cart

Do you mean a dropdown like THIS, or like THIS ? Or something else perhaps?

Re: Header Drop Down cart

The default Opencart template IMO is very nice and has one of the better category drop downs. One only has to go to Opencart to see the demo.

Zencart drop down menus are becoming nicer, but I have not yet seen anything comparable, at least in the free template offerings. There are probably commercial Zencart templates that are closer to Opencart's drop down.

Went to the opencart demo. Nothing special about that dropdown IMO. It can very easily be created using the css dropdown menu from picaflor as a basis

Both are possible in zencart, with appropriate css and structuring of cart-in-header.

Re: Header Drop Down cart

yes, that can be done to, using the shopping cart sidebox as a start, and some fancy css, or JavaScript

Re: Header Drop Down cart

Both are quite easy, actually. Using the appropriate BG images and CSS, you can get both features to look and work exactly the same as OpenCart.

I'm not a coder so not simple at all. Closest I came was with the original css dropdown demoed here:

http://nettuts.s3.amazonaws.com/819_megamenu/demo/index.html

That could be accomplished by hand-coding the category links into the appropriate section. Still wasn't the same nor as easy as Opencart.

But Opencart isn't the best drop down; and IMO Opencart isn't that easy to navigate. I thought the latest free CS-Cart had the best drop down; but they did away with the free version. I think I still have one:

http://prom-mart.com/demo-cs-cart/

Now IMO that's a very nice drop-down for a free cart. But perhaps similar to what I was somewhat building once using the original css drop down. The advantage of CS-Cart and Opencart, for me anyway, was that categories could be added from the admins instead of hand building.

(all dynamic.. no hand coding of categories required) I also know that the CSS with Categories menu support thread included instructions for turning that menu into a categories dropdown as well..

Re: Header Drop Down cart

I've looked at alot of templates and menu plugins but haven't yet seen one that can do what Opencart (or CS-Cart) does. I've used a "Mega Menu" I think downloaded from a ZC thread somewhere as a zip. Still not quite there in comparison with Opencart/CS-Cart examples.

I think the OP was asking about one of these drop downs.

I disagree. The Opencart/CS-Cart drop downs are very nice.

Here's my Opencart test demo:

http://prom-mart.com/opencart/

You have to see the far right drop down "MP3 Players" to see the full potential. Otherwise, if one doesn't look far enough, one might think it is the same as ZC drop downs.

I think the OP was asking about one of these drop downs. And that doesn't change my answer.. The Opencart menu is simply a product categories dropdown menu. As Design75 and I observed there is NOTHING all that special/different/unique about the Opencart menu.. I know of at least TWO add-ons with this SAME functionality..

  1. CSS Horizontal Dropdown Menu With jquery
  2. Category Tab Simple Dropdown Menu
If one was willing to rolluup their sleeves, this one could probably be made into a dropdown categories menu too:
    **Categories-Tabs Dressing

**Finally this add-on could be combined with the others so that a shopowner can control which categories that are displayed in the categories menu:
**Header Menu Control (Category Tabs)

**So help me understand.. What makes the Opencart menu so drastically different from these options??

Otherwise, if one doesn't look far enough, one might think it is the same as ZC drop downs. It's that ONE option to display that one category in a "mega menu" like look/feel?? that's the BIG difference?? Sorry.. I still disagree. The opencart menu really isn't THAT special, but I get why you think it's drastically different now.. to achieve that requires a little CSS to achieve.. Maybe you can't tackle this, but perhaps the OP can.. I don't know if I could explain how off the top of my head, but I do know that this feature is done in the mega menu add-on so I'd use it as my guideline..

OR

I'd look at the CSS Horizontal Dropdown Menu With jquery add-on and see how the "categories only" option is achived and see if I can apply the same change to the mega menu..

Bottomline is you are looking for plug-n-play ready.. Maybe the OP is willing to roll up his sleeves.. Maybe the OP will be okay with the available category menu options as-is.. Honestly the "mega-menu" feature is not a drop dead MUST have feature.. it's truly a "nice-to-have" and it can be achived if one was willing to do a little sleuthing..
