Product Delivery by Postcode (PDP) - [Support]

Hi Guys,

Can anybody here please help? I’ve installed PDP and it functions fine for local addresses buying local delivery only. But, when someone from a postcode outside the local delivery zone buys anything they are offered local delivery as well. And if they buy a product that is restricted to local delivery they are still offered that product with the local delivery option showing.

I have re-installed PDP but nothing changed.

Help greatly appreciated.

What is your ZC version?

Also double-check that you have properly merged all relevant core and/or template files.

Yet, if I use a WA address or NT address it still gives the option for local delivery.

Hi Brad,

ZC version is OK - as for Auspost: I have no idea if there is a clash, I would need to look at your file system.

all fixed, you may have used the old PDP version 1.0 which was buggy.

Using ZC 1.5.3 and have 3 categories large Trees(1), landscape supplies(2) and florist (3) that require local delivery only in NZ. Each postcode has a different shipping cost which is the same for trees and landscape categories, but is different for florist. Can this mod also set delivery fees based on postcode or is there another way?
Any guidance appreciated.

PDP is not designed to cater for your specific requirements, it would need some more modifications to do what you have in mind...

I have been made aware that there could be a clash between PDP and the UK Royal Mail shipping module on some sites.

If this affects your (UK) site you need to modify includes/functions/functions_general.php

In that file find this code

// if product is local delivery only - disable all other modules
case ($check_cart_local and $shipping_module != 'localdelivery' || $shipping_module != 'storepickup'):
return false;
break;

then right after that you need to add

// if product is local delivery only - disable Royal Mail first
case ($check_cart_local and $shipping_module == 'rmfirst'):
return false;
break;
// if product is local delivery only - disable Royal Mail second
case ($check_cart_local and $shipping_module == 'rmsecond'):
return false;
break;

This fix appears to eleviate the conflict.

Is it possible to set a minimum order total for Local Delivery? Local Delivery would only show when the minimum cart total AND postal code are met.

Assuming your minimum order value is $100

In the file includes/modules/shipping/localdelivery.php

insert

// bof: show local delivery when cart total is $100 or more 
      if (!IS_ADMIN_FLAG) { 
        if ($_SESSION['cart']->show_total() - $_SESSION['cart']->free_shipping_prices() > 100) { 
          $this->enabled = true; 
        } 
      } 
// eof: show local delivery when cart total is $100 or more

right after this line

$this->enabled = ((MODULE_SHIPPING_LOCALDELIVERY_STATUS == 'True') ? true : false);

Put some product in the cart that is not specifically marked as local delivery only and play around with the total cart value.

I need all my items/products to be sold only in my local city. It has 6 to 8 different zip codes.

So the only ones they can purchase is that is in my city or local area? No one outside of that zip codes, Right?

Principally correct.

But, if your city is the only area you are shipping to (eg by courier), then you would just need to set up a single zone which specifies your local city as the only area. In that case you would not need this mod but you just use the stock ZC shipping method 'Zone Rates'. For how to set up Zone Rates please refer to the FAQ's or the appropriate forum.

Using Zone Rates would save you flagging every single product as local only.

If you installed PDP according to the instructions you don't need to modify any files or code.

The scenarios (shown under the tab "Functionality" in the help file of the instructions) simply depict a possible sequence of events, course of events, series of developments etc.

PDP allows or prohibits the use of "Local Delivery" depending on the criteria entered by a customer -- so I have to repeat: you don't have to make any changes to the code if you installed PDP correctly.
