Free Shipping Question

yay it shows now so all she has to do is figure out how to set the initial amount for each item cause right now it claims 2nd day is 32$...lol

suggestions on where she or me is to write down the amount per item...it I guess is not like the other where it lists qty:fee right.

something along hese lines:

**she says:

I don’t have the fee, but I do have the breakdown. **

1 = x
2 = x
3-4 = x
5-9 = x
10-14 = x
15-24 =x

**For 25 items they can email me, or I can say that is the cutoff and they have to start back at one for the 25th item.

this is how the modules are set up:

Re: Free Shipping Question

If you want to set the shipping per item, you can do that with the:
Per Unit perweightunit

In the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... set the Maximum Weight to: 5000 and the Tare Rates both to 0:0 ...

Now, you can set the Product Weight to be the amount to charge for each Product ... then set the Per Unit rate to 1.00 and the shipping charges with be the:
products_weight * quantity

for each Product ...

Re: Free Shipping Question

ok I set it to the 5000 tare 0:0 now do I enter the amount to charge in
Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight 10:0

or do you mean to set those in the shipping modules

I think I found where you mean: per unit weight in shipping modules--I need to install this, enter the info you mentioned

so I will have these modules turned on?

Re: Free Shipping Question

Set both of the Small/Medium and the Large Tare Rates to 0:0 ...

In the Modules ... Shipping ... install the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module ...

Now, go to your Products and set the shipping charge for the Products in the Product Weight ... so if you want to charge 2.99 for a Product, then set the Product Weight to 2.99 ...

Now, that Product will ship for 2.99 x quantity in the cart with the Per Unit perunitweight shipping module ...

ok, I go to the product description page in admin>>scroll down to the "Products Shipping Weight" and enter the actual price she has listed example 12.95 ?

then she will need to do that with all her products by entering their price in the weight area....or you mean to write in the price of the ups charge in there

Re: Free Shipping Question

Yes, if that Product ships for $12.95 enter the Product Weight as 12.95 ...

Now, when you add it to cart the shipping will be:
Qty 1 12.95
Qty 2 25.90
Qty 3 38.85
etc. etc. etc.

Re: Free Shipping Question

I am reading back through the thread and I do not think we are on the same page ...

Are you trying to set shipping based on:

1 a unique shipping cost per item ...

2 a shipping cost based on the number of items in the cart ...

3 charge for ranges of items in the cart ...

Re: Free Shipping Question

I did something wrong I am sure of it this is what the page in shopping cart says:

Shipping Method:

Please select the preferred shipping method to use on this order.

Free Shipping
Per Item $0.00
Best Way
Per Unit $21.93
Best Way
United Parcel Service (21.93lbs) $106.91
2nd Day Air

I know the customer then chooses the way they want it sent but 106.91 for UPS???

I have these modules turned on:

free shipping options

I have no clue cause she did not quite get through my thick skull what she wants...sorry

I just know that she wants to charge the 2nd day charge at per unit in the order to be shipped...so that if 5 items the shipping fee will be the $x5

Re: Free Shipping Question

Just got this from her she says her shipper says that:

Anyway, my wholesaler just says 1 item is X amount and 2 items are x amount and 3-4 items are x amount and so on. So they probably know more or less about the weight and they just call it by items. I tried adding heavier items, like gift sets, but the charges remained the same.

I myself just went to the checkout part again to get to the page where it tells you the cost and it dos not change...from the first page that lets you see what is in your cart then gives you the total.

it states:

Your Total $62.64
Sub-Total:

  **$28.18**

United Parcel Service (0.82lbs) (2nd Day Air):

  $90.82
 Total:

this is for 3 items in the shopping cart, does that look right?

Hi, this is for me, so I am jumping in to say that the charge for 2nd Day air is based on #2 and #3.

My products are dropshipped, so I am going by what the wholesaler has set up. I am going to charge less than they do, but I am going to keep it within the same for the ranges. So for example their range is as follows:

1 = x
2 = x
3-4 = x
5-9 = x
10-14 = x
15-24 =x

So they are charging $11.95 for 1 item, $14.95 for 2 items, and then $19.95 for 3 to 4 items and so on.

I can charge less than those rates, because I make up the difference in the price of the item and I want to offer a really good low rate.

Re: Free Shipping Question

Now it sounds like you have unique shipping per item and each has a unique set of shipping charges based on a unique quantity break in the charges ...

More or less, none of the shipping modules in Zen Cart are really going to work for this ...

I am going to suggest you look into the CEON Advanced shipper to manage your shipping ... that is a commercial module but I cannot think of another that does more or less bizzaro shipping like what you are describing ...

You might search in google for:
ceon advanced shipper

for more information on this ...

There are a few threads about it on the forum, but again it is a commercial shipping module, but a pretty good one and is not a horrible price ...

Sorry to have taken you through the various modules in trying to find a solution but the more details given the more it has come down to you need a lot more customization than the average bear ...

no problem, I have never dealt with shipping before so it was a learning experience but at least I know that using the mods from zencart neeed to have free shipping turned off within the product itself...

since she can not use the shipping modules that come with zencart should I reverse what you had me do in sql and if so do I just change the 0 to 1?

Re: Free Shipping Question

You need to see what is needed for CEON Advanced shipping ... most likely you do not want your products marked as Always Free Shipping or you would have problems will it too ...
