includes/templates/responsive_sheffield_blue/css/stylesheet_flex.css
includes/templates/responsive_sheffield_blue/jscript/jquery.flexslider.js

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v2.0

Hi Anne:

I really need some help on this one. I was entering a description and an image for a category and as soon as I went to take a look at the catalog, everything from the toolbar in the middle, somehow, went vertically to the left and got all messed up. I have no idea how that happened and don't have the slightest idea how to repair it. Please take a look and any help is really appreciated on this one! www.mygiftsite.com :dontgetit

Thanks,

Silver

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v2.0

I have worked out 98% of the problems and limitations that the RSB templet have but here I am again asking for help on the center box size problem....

install info:
I am using:
zen-cart-v1.5.4-12302014 (new install)
addons:
responsive_sheffield_blue_2.0.template
EasyPopulate-4.0-master
Minimum Order
monthly_sales_and_tax.10
MSRP_Display_1_for_ZC_4
Price_Increase_Decrease
stats_products_linked-1.0.0

Site:
http://www.customshopping.com/

I have read, read and reread the zen cart and RSB v1 and v2 forums.. searched the web and read countless tutorials and post on zen cart customization and NOWHERE have I found what to change to make the product center boxes the same size....

the standard answers are:

  1. make your product titles and images the same length or height. (this is not possible cuz the cart is stocked and updated via an rss feed from the manufactures and I have no control over these and with over 4,000 products updated each month, it would be an endless job)

  2. you want to add min-heights to these or to the containing box so that they are all the same height (what, when or where is this done)

  3. change heights for your boxes in the responsive.css file. (I have NO IDEA where to start looking to do this in the CSS file)

4.You can also do this dynamically with javascript. (I have NO knowledge at all of how to do jave scripting)

so here I am between the provuil Rock and Hard Spot, almost bald, asking for some detailed help...

I also still stand firm on my previous post that this is a GREAT template and cart !!!!!

I'm not clear if you're talking about the product listing display of product info, or that actual product information page. If the former:

I use height: instead of min-height: in the includes/templates/responsiveSheffieldBlue/css/stylesheet.css

For my set up I split out .centerBoxContentsNew, (and Featured and Specials) on stylesheet.css from .centerBoxContentsProduct at approx line #268. For .centerBoxContentsProduct I left the styling except I change min-height to height:480 which gives a contant product listing box regardless of image size diffs

But 480 is too big for my .centerBoxContentsNew,(and Featured and Specials) that display on the front page, as I have fewer fields turned on to display, so I put those in their own line. I used the same styling as .centerBoxContentsProduct, but used height:375

In both cases I used a height that would be the maximum I would expect. That gives me some flexibility in image size and accommodates a title overflowing from one line to two. I fiddled back and forth with different sizes to get my final size. And checked appearance via chrome developer tools to see in tablet and mobile views.

So far I'm still in test site so can't show you live version.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v2.0

Hello again:

I think I see why I haven't received a reply from my post. I just took a look at my website online and it looks fine, so everyone must think I'm crazy. I just wished that someone would have told me that because I just discovered that the problem is in my admin and I still don't know how to solve it. Here is a screenshot if someone has any ideas that can help out. I would really appreciate it.

Attachment 16199

As you can now see from my prior post the middle toolbar with customer service and about us is now vertical and all "messed up." You will also notice that the facebook image icons are missing at the lower right. Obviously, you can also see that the logo is almost completely covered up.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Silver

sorry.. the problem boxes are on the main page and the product listings of the category pages.. since the boxes are not the same size there are empty spots where a product box should be,,, the individual product display pages are all ok

I will try your suggestion of:

and let you know how it goes

My guess is that you have bad code in your category description. Make sure all tags are closed properly.

Thanks,

Anne

The best way to fix it is to install the min-height jquery. If you do a google search you will find the site to download with usage instructions.

You can add min-heights using css to all of the main center box product boxes but this is more work in the long run.

Thanks,

Anne

That just means the jscript for the menu is not loading. I don't know what you are doing to have it not loading in your screen. It is loading for me.

Yes, this is possible. You will add it using css. Just do a google search for how to add a css background image and you will find instructions.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v2.0

Fix center box size problem.....

This is my first How-To in 20 years so bear with me...

First...This is the very first time I have EVER used zen cart so I am a Total Newbie (I usually use the Brand-X one). I chose zen cart for it's ease of setup and management, EasyPopulate for updating LOTS of products at once and the RSB template for it's ability to transform for different size browsers. When downloading it I decided what I needed it to do and grabbed all the plug ins I would need. then I installed everything in the following order:

zen-cart-v1.5.4-12302014 (new install)

addons:
Minimum Order (we are a wholesale site)
monthly_sales_and_tax.10 (easy to record & pay our monthly sales tax collected)
MSRP_Display_1_for_ZC_4 (to inform our customers what the price should be & what their markup will be)
Price_Increase_Decrease (so I don't have to increase each and every product 1 by 1)
stats_products_linked-1.0.0 (good info for marketing)
EasyPopulate-4.0-master (my cart is updated via RSS feeds)

I've learned over the years to always install your template LAST, so other addons don't break the layout:

responsive_sheffield_blue_2.0.template (so the cart will work on everything from a mainframe to a wrist phone, yes I had a friend test the site on her Neptune Pine and it looked great)

After installing everything and having a lovely working site with 3 products and 3 categories I stocked it with 3215 products... That's when things started to fall apart... LOL Product names and image names were too long, pictures were not the same size. empty spaces pop up on main page and category pages.

Fixed the name length problem by changing size values in the database directly...

This is how I fixed the problem of having different size center boxes and empty spaces where boxes should be, on my main page and the category pages with guidance from soxophoneplayer.

since my staylesheet.css file had not been changed I found the following line in my:

cartdirectoy/includes/templates/responsive_sheffield_blue/css/stylesheet.css

at line 266 you will find:

.centerBoxContentsAlsoPurch, .centerBoxContentsProducts, .centerBoxContentsNew, .centerBoxContentsFeatured, .centerBoxContentsSpecials{border:1px solid #dbdbce;background:#f7f7f7;padding:20px 0px;width:30% !important;transition:background 2s ease; -webkit-transition:background 2s ease;-moz-transition: background 2s ease;  -o-transition:background 2s ease;text-align:center;margin-left:15px;margin-bottom:20px;min-height:350px;}

at the very end of the line you will find "min-height:350px" (Without the quotes):
I removed.... min-
I changed... 350px to 450px (I have some tall pictures so the 450 worked for me, test different sizes til you get the min height for your site)

New code:

.centerBoxContentsAlsoPurch, .centerBoxContentsProducts, .centerBoxContentsNew, .centerBoxContentsFeatured, .centerBoxContentsSpecials{border:1px solid #dbdbce;background:#f7f7f7;padding:20px 0px;width:30% !important;transition:background 2s ease; -webkit-transition:background 2s ease;-moz-transition: background 2s ease;  -o-transition:background 2s ease;text-align:center;margin-left:15px;margin-bottom:20px;height:450px;}

yes it is that simple, once you know where to look... Thanks soxophoneplayer

hope this helps other newbies...

This is not correct. You should always install the template package first, then other plugins. This way any plugins with files in the template override folder will work correctly with no additional copying of files, etc.

I don't know what you mean by "bad code?" I was just entering a description in the category box. I was not entering any code. I am not a developer. I was not dealing with any tags either. Please try again with this one. I really don't know what to do.

I really need to get this straightened out, and I do appreciate the fact that you are busy. But if I expect to rank at all with Google, this has to be done somehow. If I have "Bad Code" in the category section, where do I find it and how do repair it.

Thank you,

Silver
