Pricing and Free Shipping missing

Hello:

I don't know where else to place this post. I put it in templates thread, but apparently it isn't a template problem. I was asked to look into my error logs but I have never done that. I looked but I don't know heads or tails from that, so I don't know what to do to correct this problem. I had placed a screen shot of the situation there so I will include it here:

Everything from the admin end seems to be fine including all the pricing and the free shipping. It just doesn't make it to the cart???

Any help would be appreciated.

Try switching to template to the classic template to see if this is template related

It seems to go into the cart fine in both FireFox and IE ... you appear to have it set to not show the cart after it is added to the cart ...

Check the setting in the Configuration ... My Store ... for:

Display Cart After Adding Product
Display the shopping cart after adding a product (or return back to their origin)

I switched it back to classic to your suggestion and still no pricing or free shipping??? Still stumped. It is apparently not template related.

i just created a fake customer, you might want to delete me. i was able to put the guitar in my shopping cart and i saw zero shipping, so i guess that you fixed it?

i was looking around on my ipad on the products page and can see an error but i can tell what it is. look in your logs directory for an error file and post the contents please.

Today when I add to the cart it switches to the shopping_cart and shows the Free Shipping and if I create an account I get the Free Shipping on the checkout_shipping page without a problem ... :lookaroun

I am still puzzled as to what is going on. I really would rather that the cart showed "free shipping" upfront without a potential customer having to login, other wise, they may not become a customer. Obviously, "free shipping" and a "good price" are enticing. For that reason, I want the pricing to show regardless. As to the log files that were mentioned, as I said, I have never done that before therefore don't have the knowledge. So I am still confused about this whole thing, but thanks to everyone who is trying to help with this.

I tried just last night and the problem is that I had changed my domain name a couple of times and don't quite know which log to look into. There is nothing in the "log" that specifically says "error." This may sound stupid, but, as I said, I am totally unfamiliar with this.

If you could explain, possibly I could give you a better answer. Anything to figure this thing out.

1. As Linda said, it show free shipping when an account is created. So that seems to be working properly. If you want customers to know up front, why don't you create a banner (or something) on your home page. That would work if free shipping is going to be for everything. Or is it going to be "per item".

2. store status: In you admin area, select "Configuration" then "My store". You will see "Store Status". I'm sure it is set to "0" but you might as well check.

3. Log files: Do you know how to access your files on the server to edit them or just look at them? Do you use CPANEL or perhaps Filezilla? Go to your file area for your current shop. It might be public_html/mygiftfair. Under that is a directory called "LOGS" which contains files. A few files are there all the time, index.* and .htaccess. Look for files that have myDEBUG in the name. Look for one with todays date. You want to open/view that file and copy the contents and post here.

I'm going to be offline until tonight but I'm sure someone else will be here to help.

PS: Do you have it set to display the price in the admin? Configuration->Product Listing->Display Product Price

1. I don't want to create a banner that says "free shipping" because, as you have already surmised, this is not going to be across the board. This will be "per item."

3. As far as log files is concerned, I have never done either. I currently have both Filezilla portable and Ipswitch Pro. I will follow your directions and attempt to post.

Referring to your PS: Display Product Price/Add to Cart -------- Value is set to 3.....? Is that where it should be???

BTW.....since you are a "Zen Follower" how did you learn so much? I wish I could!!!

I just took a look at the myDEBUG files for today's date and there are exactly 100 of them. I'm sure that you don't want me to copy each and every one of them and post them here, so I'm not sure what to do??

I can be a Guest and add to cart ... little delay ... goes to shopping_cart and shows item in cart and below displays Free Shipping ...

I can login and do the same thing ...

Is it showing the pricing and Free Shipping "prior" to you adding it to the cart? If not, it should be. This is what I am talking about. If it is showing it, then I am seeing something totally different than you are......

I just noticed something. I just added the guitar to the cart to see what would happen and this came up:

You may want to add some instructions for using the shopping cart here. (defined in includes/languages/english/shopping_cart.php)

Any idea what that statement would mean and would that have something to do with the problem???

Always Free Shipping: Yes, Always Free Shipping

In the Catalog ... Product Types ... EDIT LAYOUT ... do have this setting set to YES:

Product Free Shipping Image Status - Catalog
Show the Free Shipping image/text in the catalog?
