USPS Shipping (RESTful) (USPSr)

Today the old USPS shipping module died on us. Found that I should have upgraded to this one a while ago. Ran into issues installing the encapsulated plugin version. I would get a 500 error after hitting install and the log file would be:

Don't use the encapsulated installer for ZC 2.0.1, use the traditional method instead. For it work out the box of ZC 2.0.1, you would need to make core file edits for it to function via encapsulation.

Delete the folder from zc_plugins, copy the admin and includes folder from the root to the appropriate places. Then go to the shipping modules to activate/install.

I already was on the improved Public Access V which had a cap of 25K calls, so I have no way to test. The only thing I don't know is if the new caps are retroactively applied to already existing keys on "Public Access I". (The USPS still didn't update their documentation because it still reads 60 requests per hour.)

Also, I did confirm that the new policy on API keys is one key per USPS account, so if you were hoping to make a bunch for your clients, you need to make them their own USPS.com account then get API keys for that account.

No problem. I'll update the wiki documentation later to say 10K instead of 20K. The warning will persist until the next update (minor or major) and then it'll be fully removed. (Might make it do an auto detect kind of thing when a 429 error comes up. We'll see.

To further my previous response: the upgrade process on the traditional method (for this module anyway) is relatively easy, simply overwrite with the new release when it does come out and then visit the Modules > Shipping page to lock it in. If you really do want the encapsulation to work on 2.0.1, you would need to make some edits to your installation so that it mimics what is natively on 2.1.0.

In a word, encapsulated installer is only available for zc 2.1.0 or newer.

Those logs aren't an issue with the USPS/r shipping module, but in the checkout-process failing to check for requirements prior to continuing.

I'm running v1.58 now.
I'll check out what happened between 3/22 and 3/23, because no files were modified, and all transactions on 3/22 were fine.

Not sure non-encapsulated works anymore. Loads of issues updating from 1.2.0 to 1.8.4. Admin doesn't know about various definitions on storefront, causing partial white screens in Admin on the Modules > Shipping page. Deleted database keys and removed files, installed encapsulated, seems good now.

I will openly admit I don't think it's safe to go from 1.2 to 1.8.4 on the run. Non encapsulated should be uninstalled before updating and then rerunning the installer at that point.

You have to not only uninstall but also delete the files from includes and admin. Might actually be an idea to toss in a utility .php file into the zip that removes all these files.

Yeah I guess I can include it. I had one on the Repository, didn't think I should casually include it. But once ran, it will super uninstall the module. (Remove it from active modules, delete all USPSR_ keys, and all files that could possibly be installed.)
