Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

First I want to thank hira, this is awesome!!! I have spent at least 120 hours trying to get this installed and with your awesome directions, I DID IT!!!:clap:
How can I make my sideboxes show when someone is in the blog? I installed wp into its own folder, is that why my sideboxes are not showing in the blog?
I am so afraid to start over I wanted to check.

I should also ask, if it does need to be in the root directory, is there an easy way to fix it or should I delete everything and start over? Please say there's an easy fix!!

Alright, I made the plunge and I have a slow leak!!!:no: I deleted everything and started over, installing everything per the instructions for installing into ZC root. Now my sidebox is not working correctly. The title of the sidebox (Blog Sidebar) works, but the links for everything else does not work.:cry:
Any help is greatly appreciated. I do not understand because it was working when I had wp in its own folder. I feel like I am so close!

I already used WordPress in the past and I know that there is an admin section but I haven't found anything for the admin in Zip file.
I can't setup anything.

Did you first install full version of wordpress BEFORE adding zencart wordpress module?

They seem to resolve similar to this:-

main_page=wordpress/?page_id=2

when clicked, you go to the home page.

I am sure I have done everything correctly, I appreciate any small pointer to my mistake.

This is exactly my problem!!! I have tried everything....do you have this installed directly in the zc root? I had it in its own folder and it seemed to work great, but I then changed it into zc root and there my problem is again!!

Please someone help!!!

Hello helpme,

Yes mine is in its own directory. I tried it installed in the root and I had the same problem. Apart from that, the index page looks okay, just a bit of ccss adjustment and that is it. But just stumbling over this little glitch.

It seems to have been hard to understand my explanation.

1.At first open [/includes/configure.php] on the server.
2.Please look at the line of [ define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '***'); ] ,
and please copy text .
3.Open [/includes/extra_configures/wordpress-config.php] ,
and please paste a []+WordPress directory.
If it is your environment, it is the following images.
define ('ABSPATH','***wordpress/');

An important thing is to input it without making a mistake a　COMPLETE path to your WordPress directory.

I did this hira but still getting no joy.
Please let me know if there are any other files I could PM to you to look at to see what is wrong.

The other option is to install everything from scratch, and put in catalog default dir, but Wordpress wants me to clean out the sql database to reinstall. I'm not sure how to do that.

Hi, first of all, thanks for this great tool, I really like it and wanted to install this module onto my current zen cart. But Before I proceed, some questions about installation, hope that those who have done this before can help to clear my worries:

1. would like to install wordpress in a different directory of zen cart. Zen Cart was installed with a database (eg database name=shop), my question is, do I install wordpress to the same database of Zen Cart using, ie shop? Or do I have to create another database (with another name and password) for wordpress? I supposed I will have to do another database, otherwise the Shop database could be wiped out during installation? Please confirm if what I'm thinking is right or wrong...

2. I have installed the backup contribution in my Zen cart, hence I use this tool to backup my Zen Cart for safety. I can't use phpMyAdmin cause my hosting provider is not using it (too bad...). If I install wordpress in a different database, is it possible to backup wordpress data using the same tool? Or I should install wordpress in the same database as Zen Cart so that when I click backup, it will backup wordpress as well?

My thought is that this can't be so easy... but hope that it will be easy to do backup for wordpress...

The backup is possible together so that DrByte replies if you appoint a database same as Zen-Cart.
You can appoint a different database at the time of WordPress installation.

I think that you do not carry out step 2 of readme.

[WordPress admin URL] › Options › General
[Blog address (URL)] change to [Zen-Cart URL].

thanks for your advice. I've succesfully installed the wordpress on zencart module to my zencart, using the same database as zen cart, but install at the different directory as zencart. everything looks nice on my screen, however, when I asked my frens to check on the website, they always encounter network error, or the website is not fully loaded at all. It seems like it is my server problem. but I do worry that the wordpress module will slow down the site as a whole, and to the extent that it will not load at all? this is worrying....

2. Could be webhosting server.
3. Your header logo image is over 55k in size..should only
   be less than 20k max.
4. You also have flash image, on home page, half
   way down.. this is also loading slowly..
5. Javascript nav bar
   not helping loading times..

I still haven't figured out this Wordpress thing. I now have wordpress and zen cart in the same directory. The only thing is I do not have a clue where to put my wordpress index page or how to point to it from the wordpress admin. I've been at this for week's now and have tried so many different things and can't seem to get it right. If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great. I just need to know what path to point to or create if I have to for wordpress. Thanks guys! :smile:
