Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Okay... I am really missing something here..

I'm trying to upload some products via easy populate

No matter where I edit the file

Notepad
Exel
Openoffice Calc
Even Notepad++

upload goes fine but doens't upload anything/.....

Am I missing something?

I'm really lost here... I have this working with another store, but can't seem to get it right here...

I don't think version would cause this but just for the sake of it I'm using 1.3.9d

Thanks for any help

psr racing:

Have searched without success for an answer to this one so......
I am trying to use easy populate to conduct a stocktake of our inventory. I have a multiple price add-on which I use to record the cost price on each product. When I download the complete inventory using easy populate into excell it only gives me the retail price but I want it to give me the 'Price A' price which is where we record our cost price on items. What needs to be changed in the code to make it download the 'A' price as well or instead of the retail price?

Ok I've just realised there is a free version of EP and a pay version with more features. Would the pay version do what
I need with regard to working with the group pricing addon? If so I'll buy it today.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Did you try the group pricing ezpop version? that one can be used for group pricing and non gorup pricing systems. I use it on heavily with zero issues.

Not sure what "advanced" options are in a pay version if I knew I could simply build them into a free one so nobody would have to pay for this stuff.

The pay version is mentioned in the first few pages of this thread. Where do I find this ezpop version of group pricing?

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

When using Easy Populate w/ custom fields there is a bug where custom fields are "emptied" when importing using the Model/Qty/Price import (no bug w/ full import).

I have fixed the bug; but not sure what to do so that the bug fix propagates to the mainline code.

Please advise.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I'm not very well experienced on this forum but I hope this reaches JimmyV.

I sent an email direct to you you (you were working with SPH on some other EP issues regarding sort/special prices issue.

My other issues are described below. Can this be done in any version of EP that you know of?

  1. Second Product Description Area

  2. Here is link to site.
    https://www.findmypromdress.com

Just want to Easy Populate links to color categories "Dresses Shown In" category section.

FIRST TEST:
The first time I tried it on an After Five dress (After Five is in column
v_categories_name_1

I then added colors
Black in
v_categories_name_2, White in v_categories_name_3
Red in v_categories_name_4

What it did is added subcategories under After Five (Subcategory Black under After Five, Sub-Subcategory White under After Five/Black, and Sub-Sub-Subcategory Red under After Five/Black/White.
Then, in the Multiple Categories Link Manager, it linked only to the last one - Red.

So, I deleted that and tried another way.

I tried it where I changed all the column headings for the colors to be:
v_categories_name_1

This time it did not create subcategories under After Five but it only, again, did the linking to Red - the last one.

I apologize if I did not give you all appropriate information but i am new at this forum.

Thanks,
Nancy

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hi Nancy

I am very close with SPH to getting a resolution on the mutual issue you guys have.

I did not get an email from you so I missed that. Perhaps work with SPH to get it to me or have it forwarded. Once it works on SPH site free of issue we can tweak it and put it on yours.

When using Easy Populate w/ custom fields there is a bug where custom fields are "emptied" when importing using the Model/Qty/Price import (no bug w/ full import).

Can you link to the ez pop version you are using in the downloads section?

None of the common ones should have bugs nor should they have issue with uploading partial inventories.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I am having trouble with my pictures through easy populate. I uploaded the files to my server. I added the pictures with several different versions today (ie. just /images/pic.jpg and then www.website/images/pic.jpg), but neither actually shows the file. Is there a step by step instructions for adding pics. I only tried to add the Guntersville Reservoir Cemeteries for today and it is just showing the image title in place of the image. Any thoughts as to what I did wrong? southerngenealogybooks dot com.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

mary4c You do not need the '/images/' location as EP by default looks in '/images/'.

Good idea to put your images in folders of suppliers or categories, etc as it makes life a little easier to organise

Thanks for the info. It worked! Is there any optimal size for pics? It took forever to load this morning.

That depends on how great the resolution you need. Most can be resized somewhere between 600dpi to 800dpi. Depending on your imaging software, you can try different levels of compression (using jpg format) to see which gives the desirable image clarity and file size. The lower the compression, the higher the quality and the larger the file size.

I use a cable companies' internet service and it only takes a second or so to upload a 75K image but dial-up service is a bear.

A simple quideline is to see what your large image size in your config section is and then make your images equal or less than that. The will be reduced to that size anyway, so anything larger is just a waste of file storage space.

Keep in mind that I am really new to this program. Can you explain the config section? I checked on the Configuration>Images, but all it tells me is the height and width size.

I have already uploaded all my pictures and this one in particular was 924K.

Thanks for helping me!

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

mary4c Image sizes want to be as small as you can get them, but still keeping the image quality. Have a look at image_handler mod. as this mod can help with image handing.

As an example on my site a pop-up product image is 31kb, and Featured side box image is 2.8kb.

The procedure is sound enough... but I would not advise novices to use DreamWeaver to do file edits.

I would advice novices to use dream weaver to do file edits, they might just learn something.... we can't all remain school boys forever
