Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hello,
I apologize in advance for having posted this in the wrong area, if I am indeed doing so. I am actually having issues with easy populate 1.2.5.7b, not 1.2.5.4. However, I cannot find support for the version that I am using.

Ok, my problem is that I have installed and uninstalled this module about 15 times in it's various forms. By this I mean that I have tried installing csv 1.2.5.7b, easy_populate_free__from_langer__modhole_1-2-5-6, easy_populate_with_group_price_per_item_1-3-9-gp-meta-c, and even easypopulate_1-2-5-4. So far I have come up with the same exact thing with EVERY install. (by the way, I am using ZC version 1.3.9g for this install). EVERY time I install this module, I can install it just fine. The config file looks fine, and I don't receive any errors. However, when I go to tools--> Easy Populate, that's when things look messed up. I have included a screen shot of what happens.

It appears as though the HTML is not rendering properly.

I have Easy Populate 1.2.5.5.csv installed on another cart that is live. It is version 1.3.8. It is actually my test cart for another site. The cart that I am having difficulty with is on my local server, so I cannot provide a URl for it. Not to mention, the problem is within the admin.

Here is the cart with the working module:

Has anybody ever seen this issue? Id so, how do I fix it? Like I said earlier, I have tried reinstalling different versions (modules), and I have reinstalled each one at least two times. I do make sure to clear every entry in the DB regarding the mods. I also clear out all of the files. The last time I tried a reinstall I went so far as to download the files from my test cart with the operating module, and did a winmerge check. Then I used the successful files without altering them, which provided the same results.

I really need to get this cart going. I have been working at this module for about a week now. This is the first time I have had such an issue with a cart install, or module install. I'm seriously considering rolling it back to 1.3.8 so I know that it is not the cart itself. I know the 1.3.9 versions have had many bugs. I had to play with the code for hours to get the front page, and other define page HTML to render properly.

The only reason that I don't want to switch is because I have a custom template that I created for this site. I have never created a template that I then uploaded to different carts. I build them in the cart, use the overrides, and don't mess with them after that.

Well, any help tips, or suggestions would be great. I appreciate the community here, and all of your help.

I do not run 1.3.9c or the cvs version of EP, but what I would check first is the version of PHP that you have on your local server. Even if that is compatible with the 1.3.9c load, I would try the 1.3.8a and the 1.5.4 EP (Langler), to see if either makes a difference. If they work, then the CVS EP could be tried with the 1.3.8a.

I thought that maybe your template could have something to do with the issue but that shouldn't effect the admin section in one version and not in another. I am not aware of any problems between html and any PHP version.

OOD and Excel are interchangeable any problems with excel are related to an altered default setting or improper saving of file format.

As far as getting it to work AVOID at all COSTS v .5 and .7 csv as they are plagued with innumerable problems noted throughout this thread.

If you wish to have EZ Pop running smoothly in your environment either install the 1.3.9 EZ Pop version in downloads or install the slightly restrictive 1.2.5.4 which is found in the retired files section.

With anything Zencart especially this type of program you need to be running version 5+ PHP anything less is an antique.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Has anyone had issues with products randomly being linked? If so, how/why does this happen? Is there something I am doing wrong? It just started. I've done serveral product uploads with no prior issues.

Thanks!

I was having the same issue since I didn't use model numbers initially. With about 150 things in the store now I didn't want to go through and edit them all to include model #'s

I decided to edit the program to automatically create the model number based off the product_id since it will be unique to each product. You can copy and paste this code into the /admin/easypopulate.php file. If you haven't already altered it, I believe it is at line 731 where you put it.. included some of the surrounding code so you can find it:

	if ($ep_dltype == 'froogle'){
		$endofrow = "\n";
	} else {
		// default to normal end of row
		$endofrow = $separator . 'EOREOR' . "\n";
	}
	$filestring .= $endofrow;

	$num_of_langs = count($langcode);
	while ($row){

		////////////////////////////////////////////////////
		// BEGIN: Set blank product_model to product id //
		////////////////////////////////////////////////////

		// Check if products_model in the current row is blank
		if ($row[1] == '' || $row[1] == Null){
		// if it is blank, create and run an sql query updating it to the product_id
			$queryTHIS = 'UPDATE '.TABLE_PRODUCTS.'
						SET
						products_model="'.$row[0]. '"
						WHERE
							(products_id = "'. $row[0] . '")';
				$result123 = ep_query($queryTHIS);
			// this just changes the v_model in the output file without querying
			// the server for it, since it was just changed
			if ($result123){
				$row[1] = $row[0];
				}
			}
		//////////////////////////////////
		// END: Set blank product_model //
		//////////////////////////////////

		// if the filelayout says we need a products_name, get it
		// build the long full froogle image path

		// check for a large image else use medium else use small else no link
		// thanks to Tim Kroeger - www.breakmyzencart.com
	  $products_image = (($row['v_products_image'] == PRODUCTS_IMAGE_NO_IMAGE) ? '' : $row['v_products_image']);
	  $products_image_extension = substr($products_image, strrpos($products_image, '.'));
	  $products_image_base = ereg_replace($products_image_extension . '$', '', $products_image);

PLEASE BACKUP YOUR DATABASE BEFORE USING. It worked for me perfectly, but I don't wanna be blamed if something blows up. It hasn't been tested further than running it, making sure the site/database were still good, then deleting a couple of the models manually through admin and running again.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hi,
I'm quite sure I'm not in the exactly correct place to ask, but have just joined tonight and need to find out how I can add products to google froogle feed. Was told by web company that Zen Cart 1.3.7 can no longer add products to froogle, is this true?

Can someone instruct me how to post new question/thread?

Web company said I had to pay them to upgrade to new Zen Cart version b/c google now requires "categories" per product -- #1, is that true and #2, is that something I can do myself?

Web company has history of lying, unfortunately, and I don't have $ to waste.

Thanks, and sorry I don't know how to get where I need to go!

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Well... I've tried earlier versions of ZC (1.3.8a & 1.3.8) and it's a no go still. I'm thinking my MySQL is to recent (on my local machine). I was checking the version of my hosting company and they are 5.0.83. My local install is 5.1.41. I think my PHP version is too receent too. It is 5.3.1 on my local server and 5.2.12 on my hosting server. Could this affect the way the PHP renders? I'm going to install an earlier version of XAMPP and see if that corrects my issues. I will report my results. Unfortunately I am unable to download the exact versions that are on my hosting servers. MySQL is v. 5.0.67 and PHP is v. 5.2.6.

I am still looking for solutions, if anybody is willing to offer advice or a solution. I was thinking about installing a clean ZC instal to my web host, but I prefer to develop on my local machine first to work out any bugs.

Looking forward to some help, and completing this install.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

OK...
I did it! I installed Easy Populate v 1.2.5.5.csv on my v1.3.9h cart! I had to roll back my XAMPP install to v 1.6.8 from 1.7.3. I might have been able to go back to 1.7.0, but I didn't want to install this version and go through another ZC install only to find out I had to roll back another version. Luckily my web host isn't up to date, and I will be able to install to their servers without any problems. Now I just need to move my current customized install to the new XAMPP install to test the cart that I actually want to use.

To reduce problems with this in the future, is there a tutorial on packaging my own customized cart that can be installed just as easily as a fresh install of ZC? This can either be simple template customization, or as elaborate as pre-installed modules that most of my clients ask for, and a custom admin (different css, extra links in the header for my support, etc.). If anybody could point me in the right direction that would be appreciated. If anybody would like the PHP and SQL version numbers I tried in the beginning, and the versions I rolled back to, please let me know and I will post them. I believe I included them in my earlier post in this thread.

I hope this helps somebody. This forum is great!

Can someone help me please! I unstalled the Easy Populate files and folder from the store. But when you go into the Admin area and when you go to Configuration there are 15 "Easy Populations" links. I would like to remove them. How can I do that?

phpmyadmin is your friend :D Just look in the configuration table for easy populate and drop it.

You need to go into your db via phpMyAdmin and delete them manually. If you need some direction, PM me.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Would just like to remind everyone of the work Schoolboy did in putting together a wiki for EasyPopulate:

http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Easy_Populate

The wiki answers many of the questions that I've seen posted lately.

Also, jrobeson has created his own mod of EasyPopulate. It's really a new animal (much code rewritten) with some combined code from myself. Take a look at it over at github. This version solves many of the issues at hand. I do not remember if he solved attributes, but that's something I've also been working on. NOTE that this
is not for the newbie/beginner ... and there is NO support for this distro in this thread. You'll need to know how to install git and pull a distro. If you have any questions, you'll have to contact John, the author.

https://github.com/jrobeson/easypopulate

Good luck!

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

my model/attributes file is too large and I can't download it or create it to the temp directory. my host (justhost) won't increase the memory on my account, and EP doesn't have a feature to break up the file into smaller chunks for download, just for upload.

is there a solution or do I need to move my hosting?

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Is there a v_ field descriptor and value using Easy Populate for each of these two fields:

Show Qty Box
Product Qty Maximum

?? I just successfully moved about 200 products using the method of delete, add, add back images, but on the add, the default Zen product add values for these two fields were plugged in because Easy Pop does not store these fields/values. I am hoping there IS a v_ value that could be used w/ Easy Pop, though, to easily reset all my products to their correct values. Thanks!

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

already found this answer a few weeks ago and forgot about it. Sheesh! run SQL updates w/ these two commands:

UPDATE products SET products_quantity_order_max="1";

and

UPDATE products SET products_qty_box_status="0";
