Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

helpme:

Hi, I'm sorry if this is a VERY stupid question but I am lost and having a REALLY bad day! :lamo: I have ep installed and configured, it has automatically created a file in temp. Here's where I am lost, what do I do now??? I am trying to copy one of my categories to another category. Oh and the category I am copying has LOTS of attributes, so how do I do that too!
Thanks for all of your help!!

Not sure if this got answered elsewhere... what you are asking for is not supported in EP. However, I wish it were... I really want this functionality too.

We need to be able to copy and rename a subcatagory, including all products, just as we can duplicate a product.

Not sure this is the right place for this post as I believe it is a zencart admin functionality enhancement. I have seen this elsewhere in enhancement requests from a year back. Not sure if there are plans to implement it.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hi All,

I recently was suffering from some upload issues on EP that gave me errors on lines 1223 and lines 1301 in EP.php.

I think it is because my catalog is starting to get big, (about 700 subcats on four levels so far) but few products yet, about 25 actual ids.

Anyway,

I split out the new stuff I wanted to upload, but stupidly saved it as a CSV file. When I tried to upload the CSV, it transfers and says, "upload complete", but it does not display the proper feedback, such as:

UPDATED! - Model: Sony-NP-BG1 | camera/Son | Sony NP-BG | | | | | | 29.95 | 0.5 | | 10/28/2007 | 0 | Sony | Camera | Sony | Sony-Cyber | | | | | Taxable Go | 1 |

It has been posted elsewhere, but I thought I would write it again since others are still having trouble with this.

Uploads must be in Tab delimited format. Also, if your catalog is big, upload your changes to the temp directory and process the changes from there, rather than the 'upload'. That way you can ensure that your upload was correct (using filezilla).

This seems to be important for some reason even if the upload is small (ie: if the catalog is big, and the upload is small, trying to upload with the "single step" creates the 1223 and the 1301 errors.

I also made the attributes 777 on my temp diectory. But the real problem for me was the (duh) CSV.

Hope this helps somebody! :flex:

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

can I download instructions for easy populate advanced? I can upload all the CSV and/or tab delineated files I want, but I have no idea what to do after that.

Thank you for your assistance.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

William,

For further assistance, the support for advanced easy populate is located at https://www.zencartbuilder.com

When you successfully upload the easy populate file you compiled, all your products will be added to your catalog. You might then proceed to add attributes. If uploading doesn't work for you, you might want to try importing which is what I am doing. I hope this helps.

I need step by step instructions on how to use easypopulate. I purchased the advanced version and paid for installation, which has been completed. But I have NO IDEA how to use the module.

Any advice appreciated from you wonderful gurus, as always.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

There should be a readme.txt file included when you purchased the advanced easy populate. In brief, you go to admin > Tools > Easy Populate to download a data template, for example Store. This file contains all the necessary fields to be filled out. Once your file is ready (saved as tab delimited file), upload or import the file in admin > Tools > Easy Populate.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hello all!

I can't afford to buy EP advanced so I installed the older version.

Is there a limit to how much data could be moved to db with EP?I have 6500+ products I wish to add.

I tried to do it manually but that won't work with so many products so I got a pricelist in excel, that I've adapted into a products table with all fields Zen Cart uses in the SQLdb of my project, except I haven't had time to order them or do the pictures yet. My table puts all products in 1 category right now. I will build the category structure to get those category_ids sorted in the table for each product, because organizing those 6500+ products is most tideous and inefficient. Also, all products have the same image now, since I haven't had time to make more than a few hundred pics yet.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I use the EP v2_75 and I am making a multilingual site with finnish, german, english and swedish, so my descriptions list goes up to 25000+

My question is basically about the maximum amount of products that can be imported wit EP!?

thx, I wasn't exactly sure which one to take from the two files. And 500 at a time is good to know. All items do have a unique product number. Haven't done anything yet, cause I lost myself on the web for a while :lookaroun

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hi,
I have been using easy populate for a while now and I think it's brilliant although recently I have just noticed a problem I am having with it.

My supplier provides product feeds in xml format, I can convert the xml into csv and edit with excel/open office fine but sometimes the decription contains tabs which easy populate is treating as a column break. Even when the whole description is enclosed in quotation marks it still jumps a column so half of the description ends up as the manufacturer name or something.

An obvious solution to this would be if a different delimiter was available instead of just tab such as pipe |. I'm pretty sure easy populate doesn't support different delimiters but if anyone could give me some advice how to solve the problem other than manually editing every single description I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

// define(EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_COL_DELIMITER, "\t");
$separator = "\t"; // only tab allowed at present

I do not know about EP Advanced, this may have this option to change?

What are you using to convert the xml into csv ?

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Does that mean if I edit that file and change /t to | that will be the delimiter?

I am using advanced XML converter to convert xml to csv, works very well.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hello, I am trying to import over 2000 items from a distributor. I have formatted the TSV file correctly, however it is only adding about 93 items. Even by splitting the file, it seems only certain items can be added. Are there limitations with Easy Populate Advance2.76d-mod3a Zen-Cart 1.3.x such as unusable characters, description lengths, etc? Thank you. Please ask if you need additional information.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I have formatted the TSV file correctly,
Typo?? Should be csv file..
When using Easy Populate, every product must have unique
product model number, file should be tab delimited, and
EOREOR must be in last column for every entry.
Easy Populate also works more efficiently if around only 500 products
per file are uploaded

Thank you for your reply. Not to add confusion, but csv has become an ambiguous term where it originally was for comma separated values and tsv was used for tab separated values. Also, they are unique model numbers and EOREOR is at the end of every column. All columns line up correctly, and I tried easy populate with file split configured at 300 products. It seems to pick the exact same 93 products every time.

Thank you, I will check out that forum. However I did not purchase this version, I downloaded it from http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&cPath=40_41&products_id=460 on this site. Is the paid version incorrectly posted in the free download section?

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

2.76d-mod3a Zen-Cart 1.3.x - This is a version released this year, I have no knowledge if this version has any bugs, maybe someone else on this thread may know any known issues outstanding. I am sure others will have tested it out, and will advise. For a known working version is 1.2.5.4 without bugsEP via Modhole

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I have additional information which might help for those interested. A portion of my file is available at http://www.silverfoxunlimited.com/easy_populate_tsv.txt The first item model 5001 (which appears far down the file with several similar items before it which do not add) adds correctly where the next one does not. There are no unique characters in the ones that do not get added vs the ones that do and the field lengths all vary which show this is not the limit. When running easy populate, all items that do not add say "!New Product!" where products that do get added say "!Updated!" despite the product was not previously part of the inventory nor did it appear previously on the file. The model numbers are unique. I thank everyone who has taken the time to help or offers any additional help.
