Stocks by attributes

SonyaT:

Ok quick question. I tried to install the Mod but for some odd reason after I install it the store disappears on me. Am I missing a file? Or did I misread and put one in the wrong place? Please someone tell me where I went wrong. This is the last thing I need to do for a client and I really would like to have it done for her.The question really needs to be a little less quick. What do you mean by "the store disappears on me". If it's a completely blank screen, then follow this FAQ and post the error messages given by the debug utility.

I'd recommend looking back over the installation instructions and giving them a close read. Only you know what you've done and if the instructions are followed closely there shouldn't be any risk of putting fiules in the wrong place.

What version of Zen Cart are you using? What version of Stock by Attributes? Are you sure you're using Stock by Attributes and not one of the other Attribute Stock mods?

Re: Stocks by attributes

@JayBay

You're describing a very common problem that occurs either because not all the files have been properly installed, or you or your FTP package have created backups of the original files in their original locations which are over-riding the effect of the new files.

Re: Stocks by attributes

Hello Kuroi

I was wondering if you have a uninstall sql patch. I want to wait for the zen cart release that will have this feature. You have said this mod is probably at the end of it's life.

I had problems w/ discount pricing but am not wanting to deal with it.

A uninstall sql patch would be greatly appreciated. I tried to search for one but found nothing on the topic.

Thanks

Re: Stocks by attributes

I get an error

1062 Duplicate entry 'STOCK_SHOW_LOW_IN_CART' for key 2
in:
[INSERT INTO zen_configuration (configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, last_modified, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES ('Show available stock level in cart when less than order', 'STOCK_SHOW_LOW_IN_CART', 'false', 'When customer places more items in cart than are available, show the available amount on the shopping cart page:', '9', '6', NULL, now(), NULL, "zen_cfg_select_option(array('true', 'false')," );]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

How do I find where this is

Re: Stocks by attributes

Does this module ALSO allow you to set model numbers (skus) along with the stock for that item/attribute?

Different sizes and colors, etc. also have different model #'s.

Re: Stocks by attributes

Hi,

I have had this add-on running fine for nearly two years on a zen cart v1.3.0.2 setup.
However, I think the client has altered something in the setup and now its not working!
I've re-installed the latest version of products with attributes, however I still get a 404 page when I select 'products with attributes' from the catalog menu.
Every other link to the pages from the catalog menu works, but the products with attributes has its name in capitals for some reason: "admin/FILENAME_PRODUCTS_WITH_ATTRIBUTES_STOCK.php" and when I choose it it gives me a 404 missing page screen.
I'm sure I've done everything as mentioned in the install instructions, and what I initially did successfully a couple of years ago.

I hope someone can help me with this problem

thanks!

I was wondering if you have a uninstall sql patch.No. But my version of the mod does come with a readme file that lists the files that have been over-ridden. Remove the over-ride and replace the over-ridden files with originals from the release package for the version of Zen Cart that you are using, and the mod will cease to function.

thanks! There are several versions of "this mod" built for different versions of Zen Cart. The two main ones have an admin/includes/extra_datafiles/products_with_attributes_stock_filenames.php which defines the filename for the mod and which may be missing in your installation.

If that's not the problem, you will need to be precise about which version of the mod and which version of Zen Cart you are now using.

I can't comment on how 1.4 will work, but don't expect the mod to keep going. I'm on record as having said that there are aspects of this mod's data structure that I don't like, and I have no doubt that the Zen Cart Team starting from scratch with the benefit of seeing the limitations of this mod, will do a better job.

That said, although I expect the structure to be different, there's only so many ways that you can structure data to do this task, and I'm sure that it will be possible to convert data created from this mod into the new format when it arrives. I just don't know yet how big a task that's going to be.

Hi,

thanks for the reply.
In the original working installation I used the "stockattribute3.01" with Zen Cart 1.3.0.2.
Once it stopped working, I then re-installed the original mod to try and fix the problem and it still was not working and so I then tried the updated version "3.01.1", again with the same version of 1.3.0.2 version of Zen Cart.
I've kept the "3.01.1" mod installed but it still comes up with the same error, I've checked to see if that file is installed and it is.

Hope thats more help to you

thanks again :)

Have you checked that the filenames definition file is safely installed in the folder to which I referred in my previous post?

Ah, OK I got here from the link on the readme file.
I don't suppose your mod works on 1.3.0.2 Zen Cart by chance?

The filenames definition file is installed in the folder you mentioned as well

thanks

Ok so if I add all the files back where they should go then it should work properly if the patch is installed correct?

The problems reported in this thread almost always come down to files not being installed correctly or backups being stored alongside them, with only occasional problems caused by faulty installation of the patch.

Re: Stocks by attributes

Now Iam new to the world of online business But I was reading through this site for the past 2 days and was able to find questions for alot of my questions, I was even able to help my website developers to utilize alot of the mods available through this site.
Now the questions is:
I sell shoes and Apparel which are defined by atributes, Now I start uploading my products to the site and noticed that it takes a lot of time to define each atribute for example if I want to upload a pair of shoes which comes in different sizes 5-10 So to go in and manually define add the size each time iam loading a new pair of shoes and then go and define the quanity of each style Takes alot of time.

Is there a way to set like a matrix or a definition to list the sizes from 5-10 so I only have to change the quanity in stock???????

The same thing applies to Clothing.

Iam not really woried about the color just the size option.

P.S: Iam using Zen 1.3.8

Any body with Information Please help that would save me lots of time.

Re: Stocks by attributes

Glamorousshoes,
Actually you are asking several questions in one, but I'll take a whack at it. (If Kuroi posts an answer it will be more definitive.)

  1. There are several mods for pricing and inventory of products with attributes. Each have their problems and hopefully this will be solved in ZenCart 1.4 when this functionality is added to core.
  2. There is EZ-Populate which lets you use a speadsheet to modify stock, prices, etc, but it does not handle attributes very well. There is an advanced version (NOT free) but I don't know if the attributes problem has been solved.
  3. There is an "Improved Attributes Cotroller" mod which makes adding attributes to a product much easier because you can add ALL the Options Values at one time from a multi-selection drop down list.
  4. If ALL your shoes have the same size attributes, you can use a Global copy from one product to the others.
But 3. and 4. don't address the problem of adding the stock quantity, or prices if the product is 'priced by attribute', which is the problem I have.
So my solution has been to write some SQL queries which download a CSV table of the things I need to change for all the products. Then I make my changes in Excel and replace the table(s) with the updated version. I use phpMyAdmin to execute the query, but you could also use the SQL patch tool in the Admin panel.

Hope this helps
