User tracking mod

Hi there...

I installed the User Tracking mod and after a reinstall of the sql databdase it was fine ( you have to apply the sql patch over the admin site!!!)

Well, my problem is the total time, idle time display:
Start Time: 13:54:31 Idle Time: 09:19:43 End Time: 13:54:31 Total Time: 09:00:00
where does the "9" come from?

Thx for help.

T.

Re: User tracking mod

I also seem to have a problem with this mod.

I downloaded the new package that Reza compiled and used that sql update along with the files in the zip.

I have modified the footer page to have the tracking code. looked through this forum for any other input on setting up the mod.

The tracking config appears for me in both the configuration and tools menu.

When I go to the User Tracking report page, there is no info. It says:

There have been 0 page views in this 24 hour period.
There have been 0 page views in this 24 hour period. Total number of users: .

Any idea what the issue is? I am using the latest zencart, and never had this mod installed before.

Thanks

gdrudy:

I cannot vouch for the version uploaded by Reza as I have not installed. It's supposedly an update of JeffD's most recent version released Nov 30, 2006 (updated with patches Jeff made available on Dec 05, 2006).

However much helpful info is missing from the readme (as was previously posted in this thread). See pinghead's last version's readme to check for what's missing.

gdrudy:

I have modified the footer page to have the tracking code.

The tracking config appears for me in both the configuration and tools menu.

If you are freshly installing User Tracking (not upgrading) on a fresh Zen Cart install then you should not observe "User Tracking Config" in both the Config and Tools menu.

But if you are upgrading...

In original UT versions "User Tracking" showed in the Tools menu, and "User Tracking Config" showed up in the Config menu. However a later UT release forked from the original (unknown to everyone) and the SQL updater implemented an undocumented switcheroo and moved User Tracking Config into the Tools menu. Then later two versions became simultaneously available. Then the "dual menu" display of User Tracking Config become evident when updating from/to unmatched versions (e.g. from Pinghead's to Jeff D's version). The results of this switcheroo has been total confusion.

If UT Config shows up in both menus then apply the short SQL patch from a_berezin and posted earlier to this thread. It worked for me.

(Also if you have Admin Profiles mod installed check the readme for that mod and also see the special file provided with Admin Profiles for other helpful info).

gdrudy:

When I go to the User Tracking report page, there is no info. It says:

There have been 0 page views in this 24 hour period.
There have been 0 page views in this 24 hour period. Total number of users: .
Just to be sure, did you or others visit your shop catalog several times immediately after you installed? If it is a fresh UT install, then UT would not know about previous visits.

In Config > UserTracking Config you will find several settings: User Tracking Visitors needs set to true. And for testing purposes "Exclude IP Addresses" should not include your IP so you are NOT filtering out your own visits from your own PC.

Hope some of this helps.

Re: User tracking mod

Awesome Mod  . I just installed it and it works great. Thanks for making this available.

I have a feeling My client (owner of store) is sitting there during the day hitting refresh all the time as the Counter History is showing high numbers and I see his IP on alot. I mentioned to him that each time he hits the refresh key it slowly eats up his bandwidth which he has alot of but still limited to a degree, LOL.

Again thanks for this mod. Now hopefully I can see what he does so I can remind him of things, lol.

Re: User tracking mod

Ok I have found a  issue with this mod. When viewing the User Tracker I was visited by a googlebot, well when I try to delete the session, it WON'T go away. Any ideas on what to do as it hit 91 pages and it showed all pages instead of just a small box never even hit the View Session box.

Thanks much in advance.

Re: User tracking mod

Hi everyone,

I've added the usertrackiong mod to my site but have this error at the bottom of the page:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: zen_update_user_tracking() in /home2/plymgary/public_html/includes/templates/HandcraftedUK/common/tpl_footer.php on line 60

I have installed the files into the correct places and also uploaded the sql file.

any ideas what the problem could be?

many thanks,

Gary

In the not to distant past within this thread JeffD provided an explanation and some possible workaround solutions were proposed. That's all I can remember right now. Need more coffee.

Re: User tracking mod

Someone asked this earlier in the thread, but could not find an answer.

I have the issue where the following idle time and total time shows, but is incorrect.

**Start Time:14:28:57Idle Time:08:42:20End Time:14:30:14Total Time:**08:01:17

Also if someone adds something to their cart then all session entries show the product in their cart, not the particlular session it should be in.

I have had a read through this thread and been looking for a way to turn off bots or to by default shrink there session info (page views) does such a hack exist?

As we have either google or yahoo on our site constantly it would be nice to stop there data from hogging the screen when looking at this mods output (looking at over 1200 page views in detail is a right pain in the bum)

In the ideal world something like the visitors mod for OSC would be nice where I can turn bots sessions views on or off

Re: User tracking mod

i Have downloaded the user tracking and installed it with in the relative path the it belongs but when i go to my admin/tool/user tracking and click report to get a report i get this

This tool allows for you to see the click patterns of the users through your site, organized by sessions. This data can be very valuable to those looking for how to improve your site by watching how customers actually use it. You can surf back and forth through the days by using the link below.

**SELECT VIEW: **Back to Apr 18, 2007

Now displaying the latest CONFIG_USER_TRACKING_SESSION_LIMIT sessions of this 24 hour period. You can also purge all records past the last 72 hours of data.

Delete all info from IP-Address CONFIG_USER_TRACKING_EXCLUDED purge all records

1146 Table 'zencart1.zen_user_tracking' doesn't exist
in:
[select customer_id, full_name, ip_address, time_entry, time_last_click, last_page_url, page_desc, session_id, referer_url, customers_host_address from zen_user_tracking where time_entry > 1176966000 and time_entry < 1177052400 order by time_last_click desc]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

Also the user tracking config page doesn't show anything.

Any thought as to whats wrong?

Re: User tracking mod

Anybody know how to disable the bots from this module, its a pain in the butt to HAVE to view there sessions all the time.

Even how to force there sessions to shrink would be great.

Petter Normann developed a version of User Tracking which contained some features missing in JeffD's version. (Petter's last version Sept 10-06). And JeffD's later version contains some features not in Petter's version. (Jeff's last version Dec 04-06). Both Petter and Jeff are now out of the Zen Cart dev scene.

So it would be very fine if someone with the dev skills could takeover the development of this mod and reconcile features from both versions into one.

Regarding tracking bots or not, here's some info in Petter's last version readme (info which is not included in JeffD's readme):

File Modifications: 2 with Catalog-user-tracking AND Admin-user-tracking

add the following to the end of /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_footer.php

Alternative 1: tracking all users and bots.
<?php if (ZEN_CONFIG_USER_TRACKING == 'true' && function_exists('zen_update_user_tracking')) { zen_update_user_tracking(); } ?>

Alternative 2: track only users with set sessions.
<?php if (ZEN_CONFIG_USER_TRACKING == 'true' && $session_started && function_exists('zen_update_user_tracking')) { zen_update_user_tracking(); } ?>

Alternative 3: RECOMMENDED, track all users except bots/spiders, requires Configuration->Sessions->Prevent Spider Sessions->true (I don't know if this works with Zen-Cart versions older than 1.2.6d).
<?php if (ZEN_CONFIG_USER_TRACKING == 'true' && !$spider_flag && function_exists('zen_update_user_tracking')) { zen_update_user_tracking(); } ?>

Add if you want to track admin pages viewed add the following to the end of /admin/includes/footer.php

<?php if (ADMIN_CONFIG_USER_TRACKING == 'true' && function_exists('zen_update_user_tracking')) { zen_update_user_tracking(); } ?>

The above code works for me on ZC 1.37 with JeffD's last UT mod version (12-04-06). YMMV.

Hope this helps.
