Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Fez-o Joe:

Two items:

  • Where does one change the background settings - wait for it - for the pop-up window? The ones in the admin only affect the product pages. And *yes *- I scanned multiple threads looking for the answer... to no avail. :frusty:
Sorry, not really related to IH2 support.. I typed in the search terms background, popup and found at least half a dozen threads which answer this question..

Fez-o Joe:

  • Since installing IH2, I can no longer click the 'browse' to add an image when I'm editing a product, and click on the 'insert/edit image' button. The dialog box pops up, but it doesnt allow me to browse when clicked. If I put something in, say 'fez.png' and say OK - it's trying to find it in my admin folder/fez.png ...

Any ideas? :DNot sure why.. Nothing in the IH2 fileset would cause this particular issue..

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I tried to post this last night - got lost. The category thing is a coincidence. I found products in other categories where some products in a category worked right and others did not.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

DivaVocals:

Sorry, not really related to IH2 .

The hover over pop-up IS DIRECTLY the result of installing IH2. Perhaps I wasn't specific enough...

When the *hovering *box appears, it has to be generated from something that IH2 is doing, and pulling from - as far as assigning a background. The question is where is this background RGB being assigned? It's not in the Admin - Images area, as those command lines are for the general/product pages.

AND, if it is in a file as code, why is it not an Admin variable? I can't be the only store with a background of 102:51:51 ! chuckle

Thanks

Perhaps I wasn't specific enough...You weren't.. thanks for clarifying your question..

The question is where is this background RGB being assigned? It's not in the Admin - Images area, as those command lines are for the general/product pages.I assume this is in the javascript, but can't say where.. Hopefully someone will come along and pitch in an answer/suggestion..

Fez-o Joe:

AND, if it is in a file as code, why is it not an Admin variable?Short answer: because it never has been an admin variable.. In the six year history of this module, NO ONE has ever mentioned this or indicated that it SHOULD be an admin variable.. Not sure if there are any immediate plans/need to make it one now..

OK... tracked the "Background issue for the hovering pop-up" issue down, and maybe if someone else can use it, great.

It's the "trailimageid" in the includes/templates/YOURTEMPLATE/css/style_imagehover.css

There ya go...

Have fun.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

If nobody has an answer on this I'll slag through everything and figure it out, but I would assume from some comments and posts it's already been done by someone, somewhere and I just can't find it.

I want the hover image to display a full sized image (the original image) everytime a user hovers over a product image, not a medium or small version.

How can I accomplish this?

I remember reading a hack a few weeks ago when I first messed with this plug-in regarding IH2 not doing this and some workaround, but I could not get it to work.

Any help/links/leads to this end are greatly appreciated.

DivaVocals:

I'm not sure I understand your question.. Please elaborate..

Dear Diva,
You know, in the bmz_cache fold, there are folds like 1,2,3.....9,a,b,c,...f,no more folds.
Could it generate more folds to save the images cache?let every folds keep images less than 1024.
Does it help?

Does it help?I'm sure it could (I assume by "folds" you mean FOLDERS???), but the REAL solution to your issue is to find a host who is better suited to host your site..

daltonkost:

Ending up renaming YOUR_TEMPLATE to classic, and merged the two folders. Uploaded via ftp the entire store root folder to my root directory, per read me instructions, opened admin, no menu choice to install image handler. Deleted store root folder from my root directory and will wait for some direction. ( I hope)

Dalton

I had the same question as you did and was not able to find the answer with my poor search skills. Based on the fact that it did NOT work the way you did it, I renamed that folder template_default since the subfolder structure in the install matched those of the one on my site.....

Anyway, it worked.

Anyway, it worked.I am entirely unsure what you question is or what the issue was.. I will say this.. renaming the YOUR_TEMPLATE folders to default_template is INCORRECT.. (and just because it worked doesn't mean this is still not the wrong solution) Your should never over write any of the default template files with what should be a template override.

daltonkost - Post 4688
Really basic question about installtion. Just downloaded files, and following the install instructions, renamed the admin folder, but when I get to renaming the template, I find a classic folder, template_default, and YOUR_TEMPLATE. I use the classic template that came with Zen, contemporary green.

Question is, do I rename YOUR_TEMPLATE contemporary green? If I try to rename it classic, it of course says that folder already exsists.

I renamed that folder template_default since the subfolder structure in the install matched those of the one on my site.....LRS, this is a mistake. What you have done is overridden original zen cart files that must always remain intact and unchanged so that they are available for restore in case you make a mistake, and also because when you upgrade your zen cart, any changes you've made to them will be wiped out.

This is not an Image Handler (nor any mod) installation issue/question. It is more about the basic understanding and operation of Zen Cart. The solution for both you and dalton is to uninstall Zen Cart and do a fresh install. Then, before you install any mods or make any customizations, do the following:

Read These Tutorials:
Understanding The Override System
The Override System Really Simplified
How Do I Set Up The Template Overrides?

Download This Tool:
Overrides Chart

Zen Cart employs a file override system to protect some of the files that you make changes to (or are changed for you when you install a mod) in the event of an upgrade. This system also protects your original files in case you make a huge mistake - which you have done here, and which I myself have done on many an occasion <grin>.

It is absolutely crucial that you understand and utilize the override system. Many new zen cart users understand the concept once they read about it, but will often struggle with how to implement and use it. If you encounter this, there are tons of threads on the forum to help you. Having said that, here's a tip to get you started in the right direction, based on your posts/questions above:

On the forum and in mod installation instructions, you will often see reference to "YOUR_CUSTOM_TEMPLATE" OR YOUR_TEMPLATE". This is the general name used to refer to a set of folders that you yourself create and name. Since everyone names them something unique...in order to refer to them globally, they had to be called something that everyone would understand refers to a specific set of folders, so "YOUR_CUSTOM_TEMPLATE" and/or "YOUR_TEMPLATE" was born.

How do you create these folders? What do you name them? Where do you put them? What files do you put in them? What files don't you put in them? Can every file be overridden?

All of these questions and more are answered in the tutorials and tools that I posted above. If you have any questions, please locate the threads addressing the override system and post them there

If after all of that, you still have questions about Image Handler, this would be the appropriate thread to post them to.

Good luck

Very happy to help :) Especially on something that I struggled so much with when I was new to Zen Cart. For some reason, the override system was challenging for me. But thanks to all the helpful people here on the forum, it wound up becoming one of my favorite things about zen cart! It's nice to be able to give something back :)

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

DarkAngel:

when you go to tools/image handler to get its controls---or click the little pink i in the product listing page you will get the place to add your additional images

they must have the same type of image as the primary one...jpg with jpg--png with png --- gif with gif...no mix and match or the additional ones will not show up.

click the ? and it will give you another window where you will see the main image a bit larger and under it 3 buttons...clck the add image (something like that) button to then browse your computer for the next image for this product.

repeat the add image process with each additional image you wish to add.

I cheat though and upload them all to the server...nameing them as such:

mainimagenameherewithnospaces.jpg
mainimagenameherewithnospaces_01.jpg
mainimagenameherewithnospaces_02.jpg
mainimagenameherewithnospaces_03.jpg

for how ever many you are adding, then in the product page where you put the path for the main image the others will automatically show up when you are through---but you won't see them unless you are in image handler control area or the actual product page in your store.

hope that is what you were asking....head full of flu and meds=brainless

Thank you for your response!
i am actually now able to add pictures:)

avanz.com.au is the site. As in above post, the attached picture of additional images are there but now showing on the main site.
