Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Moderator:
This thread was not an error with IMAGE HANDLER 2
Infact it was an ftp error on my part that lead to 100 kbs missing from the 'additional_images.php file in the ' /includes/modules/override/..' resulting in product 'additional images 'not displaying in lightbox. only main product images would display in zen lightbox.
**Zen Lightbox display -operator error fixed **by re-uploading the 'additional_images.php file.
*thanks to 'divaVocals/overthehill' for posting regardless

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hi, please I will be very glad if someone can help me out and tell me what might be the problem with my installed image handler2.

Please I must warn that this is an adult site in case if you want to open it in an office environment or around kids. So here is the problem:

I am still developing my site. But since after installing image handler, the image on my product info page disappears if the pages are opened. Also, the images do not pop out or have any lightbox effect. The website is https://www.privatecorner.co.uk.

I am using Zen Cart 1.3.9h with both Apsona and Zen Lightbox installed.

Thanks for your time

If the product page disappeared I would say that you need to check your install.. Something went wrong..

IH2 does not produce a lightbox effect.. If you've installed a lightbox mod, you ned to post questions regarding it on the appropriate support thread for your lightbox module.

Lastly, the on hover effect does not work unless you have the correct image settings. The settings needed are covered in the IH2 readme. Please re-read the IH2 readme, and make sure you have your settings correct in order to get the image hover effect working properly.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I am also going to inquire with the admins about starting a NEW IH2 support thread.. This one is a LOT long in the tooth, and I think it's time for a FRESH start.. (don't you agree??)

v2.7.4 Changelog

  • Fix fancy quotes.
  • Correct minor issue where image file paths would include an un-needed "/"
  • Add an admin configurable option whereby shopowners can choose whether or not the large or medium image will display in the "on hover" image effect
  • Revise module version numbering **for **(hopefully) the last time. We are eliminating the "Rev" numbers format. The new version number is based on the number of releases from inception to current. It is meant to reflect what the version number SHOULD have been had a more conventional version numbering system been used for this and all prior releases
  • Re-format and re-write readme file. Among the changes included:
  • Better (and MORE) images
  • Full integration of Tim Kroeger's AWESOME original documentation
I am especially excited about the integration of Tim's original documentation into the IH2 readme.. I think that many of IH2s MOST COOL and MUST HAVE features are often forgotten in a sea of "image hover" an lightbox questions..

The inclusion of Tim's original documentation really provides a GOOD overview of IH2 and most importantly really demonstrates that this little app is SO MUCH MORE than a way to add cool image hovering effects..

Did you know for example:

  • That one of IH2's default settings (yes the ones NO ONE ever REALLY looks at) will compress and optimize your product images for you?? No need to use Photoshop or other similar tools to compress your images to make them "web ready". IH2 will do all of this heavy lifting for you.

Why Is Image Compression Important?

**
**Image compression is important for web designers who want to create faster loading web pages which in turn will make your website more accessible to others. This image compression will also save you a lot of unnecessary bandwidth by providing high-quality image with fraction of file size.

  • That IH2 will convert your images for you from one filetype to another on the fly? For example you can upload a JPG file and specify that IH2 generate all product thumbnail images (small image) as GIFs, all medium product images as JPGs, and all large product images as PNGs. This saves you from have to create and convert all these different files. Simply upload your JPG source and IH2 will take care of the rest for you.
Files are being reviewed as we speak.. Once I get the thumbs up from my testers, I will submit to the downloads section..

I am a nerdy swot, so i knew all that, infact image handler was the reason I picked Zencart, as previously i was using my own designed cart/site software for customers, but the sheer time taken to add new features and debug them was a killer, when i designed my own cart my built in image uploader basically did the exact same thing as image handler. So when i started looking for a replacement shopping cart system, i was pretty stunned that good imagehandling/compression/resampling wasn't built in.

As to starting a new thread, probably a good idea, But the very post in that thread would need to be well thought out.

basically listing all the most common errors and there resolution, because lets face it people don't read instructions properly or carefully or even go back to them when something goes wrong as evidenced by half the posts in this thread.

besides i want to see this thread crack a million

Agreed..

nigelt74:

This is why I want to start a new support thread.. We did the same thing with Super Orders because among other things, I was weary of the question "What does Super Orders do?" being asked OVER AND OVER AND OVER again!!

Ideally I want to cover the FAQs and other information that is repeated here OVER AND OVER AND OVER again and ending with..:lookaroun

well.. ummm....

words which will gently state the following.. RTFM!!!

This way those of us to graciously help out on this support thread can always point folks back to the leading thread and the readme doc. Between the these two sources, MOST folks should be able to troubleshoot their issues without posting re-runs of the SAME questions OVER AND OVER AND OVER again!! (as is the norm around here now.. sigh)

nigelt74:

besides i want to see this thread crack a million:laugh: Well now if we do that it will postpone the creation of the new thread..

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

downloaded last images handler version , and i had small problems with images displaying. jpg images were not displayed on the product page. after small investigation i've found that problem was in bmz_cache/htaccess file.
wrong line was:
<FilesMatch "..(jpe?g|JPE?G|gif|GIF|png|PNG|swf|SWF)$" >
changed to:
<FilesMatch ".
.(jpeg|JPEG|gif|GIF|png|PNG|swf|SWF|jpg|JPG)$" >
now it works fine
maybe this will help someone :)

jpe?g|JPE?G = jpg|JPG. The .htaccess file that is included with IH2 is the SAME .htaccess file that is included with Zen Cart 1.3.9 in the default images folder.

Meaning??

If there was something wrong with the included .htaccess file, you would also have issues with the default images folder as well since this folder contains an IDENTICAL .htaccess file.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

also found another bug.
i have 2 products added for testing in the moment
first have 3 jpg images: shirt, shirt_01 and shirt_03
to the second product im adding a new image called: shirt66.jpg.
i have it displayed ok for the second image, but when i go to check the first one i see that this new shirt66 image is also displayed in there! and it shouldnt be
i've checked also what happens when i add a new image shirt77.jpg to the first product, but in that case it is ok, new image is displayed only in first product not in the second.

All I would like is a readme file that made sense. Errors are one thing, but after 600 posts I think that should be possible.

Please see the IH2 readme.. This is not a bug.. this is correct behavior.. If your main large or medium images are JPG, then they all must be JPG. (and this IS covered in the readme)

Also if you look a page back in the new version announcement post, I mention that there is a setting in Configuration > Images which will allow IH2 to convert your uploaded GIF to JPG. (hint: filetype) This has ALWAYS been a feature of IH2..

This is a result of how Zen Cart recognizes additional product images. See these Zen Cart FAQs:

I'd like to get at least 1 or 2 more testers to try the new version and review the new readme.. I really need folks who really plan to TEST and report back their results.. (so I will be selective in who I send the new version to -- sorry..) Time is of essence as I'd like to get this test/review period turned around quickly so I can submit this new release ASAP.. PM me if interested..

Last thing.. How could I forget that the new version includes the latest updates to the JS file from the awesome nigel!! (I've updated the changelog section accordingly below and in the readme)
