I called Godaddy today and found that I was having a bandwith issue. I upgraded hosting account (increased my bw) but its still slow...

Maybe it takes sometime for the changes to go live. Wait a couple of days and, if nothing has improved, then think about switching hosts.

PastGenToys:

IH2 installed but the site is sooooo slow now.... anyone else have this issue? If so how can I resolve it? Thanks! PGT

I found this to be the same if using large original pics. The difference between using IH on your PC and live is huge!
I now reduce the original first or it takes too much time.

What size do you make the originals?

What size were your images (before you resized them)?

It is more the resolution that helps. I make them about 500px by what ever the other side sets at and at 72 dpi. Camera images are 300dpi and can be huge in pixcel size.

I've used 1-2 meg files on my localhost with IH2 before and had no problems. At first the GD2 libraries were not enabled on my localhost, so that meant that IH2 did not work and all the images on my website took a long time to load and looked very 'jagged' around the edges!

I verified through godaddy that my GD2 libraries were current and running... still I get ()imagedestroy.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I've just installed IH2 and got it working. Seems good - but I'm curious about a couple of things.

1 - The main reason I installed it was to get the benefit of reduced image space on the server. It seems, to me, that loading only the large image and not the medium and small ones (in my case 1/4 and 1/16 the sizes of the large) would buy me some time before I need to find another host (or another solution). The cache will offset this - my first thought is that once all the images have been cached I'll end up using the same as I would have without IH2.

I see there's an admin option to clear the cache. Could this be called from a cron job - once a week, say, flipping the site into maintenance mode (if necessary), clearing the cache, then flipping it back to normal?

I seem to recall there's an option to set expiry dates on UNIX files. Or maybe that was an old ICL mainframe thing .... If it exists can this be used to give the cached files a shelf life after which they're automatically removed? If I'm thinking about a real feature would the hosts have to set anything up, or would I need to set up a cron job to do the housekeeping?

2 - With image security in mind - can IH2 pull its source images from a directory away from public access?

mrmarcus66:

I am still getting the error, it seems to be intermittant. Can anyone help me work out why I am getting this error. I am using zen-cart 1.3.0.1

Error!

Unable to determine the page link!

Function used:

zen_href_link('', '', 'NONSSL')

This error is to do with the file name itself...I tested it with file names without spaces and it worked. try it and let me know. tested on apache on windows and apache on linux. so basically change your file names so that it doesn't include any spaces and it will work 100%

Hope this helps you all

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Sorry if this question has been asked lately, I searched and read about 20 pages of this thread and did not find an answer.

I installed IH on www.stuff4toys.com and it works GREAT, THANKS for all your hard work.

Now my question...
I have these two other sites in my tagline. I have an extensive collection of _LRG and _MED files in their appropriate folders.

Now I would like to install IH for two reasons

  1. Watermarking of the currently displayed images
  2. Future product imagesWill IH still take advantage of my existing _LRG & _MED files or do I have to go through all my products and re-assign images?

Thanks

Sc0tt:

Thanks for being johnny on the spot with the replies. Yeah, I haven't gotten my head around how this stock multi-image thing works, but it appears I need to name them with the same suffix and put them in respctive folders named, med and lrg. This is my guess anyhow. Hopefully, your UI is money in this area and helps this grasshopper find his way. DANKE!
Hello,
I Can you please help me to use IH2? I have zen cart v1.3..
I installed IH2 to my local computer and transfer that to include/my template/css. (only style_imagehover.css). I don't think I did right. Can you give me some instructions for which file goes to where?
Please help me.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

How do I set up IH2 so that I get the Java Popups on my small images, but NOT change the Annimation?

See www.bulklights.com look near the bottom at the 'Featured Products" if I enable Zoom the GIFs stop annimating.

LibertyFlag:

I have image handler on all 3 sites now. The site that NEVER had _MED & _LRG files works GREAT, but the sites that have some _MED & _LRG files will Re-Size the images, and watermark the java pop-up images, BUT no watermark on the actual Medium and Large files.

Check out www.stuff4toys.com never had a _LRG image and every image is watermarked as prescribed.

Now check this out
http://www.liberty-flag.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=98_102 Click on the Buffalo Bills helmet.
All 5 items have the zoom.png and all 5 items have a watermarked Pop-Up image. The Auto Shade and the Yard Light do not have _MED or _LRG. Click on the item and see - NO watermark, Enlarge, still no watermark.

Is there a fix or work-around for this? I would like to keep making only one image in the future without Re-Imaging 2500+ items.

Thanks

Maybe because the images for Buffalo Bills Auto Shade and Yard Light are in a images/product/ folder, instead of the images/ folder?
