Shipping Setting for Multiple Dropshippers

It would seem to me that the easiest way would be to add a supplier choice to the product entry page similar to the manufacture listing. When setting up each supplier you'd specify the shipping terms. DHL. FedEx etc, shipping fee (under $50.00, $10.00 fee, over $50.00 free shipping) drop ship fee etc.

When you enter a item to the store, simply select the supplier and it'd take care of the shipping according to the settings (shipping zip code etc). If a customer orders multiple items from different suppliers, Zen calculate the cost of multiple shipments and present the total to the customer.

Zen already looks at the ship from location, and other settings on a global bases. It could do the same on a per item bases instead based on supplier settings. While this would not necessarily meet the needs of everyone out there, I believe it would meet the needs of the majority of users and would not be overly complicated to write as these things go.

As an added advantage, a user could set some lower cost items to ship by USPS and more expensive items by UPS/FedEx by creating suppliers from his/her own shipping location.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Re: Shipping Setting for Multiple Dropshippers

Is it possible to set up different product types where each product type is a different supplier/manufacturer and then apply a different table rate or per weight unit per product type?

hope that makes sense.

Re: Shipping Setting for Multiple Dropshippers

Probably the easiest way to do it is by doing what's called masking. You set this up at your registrar. Other options are Sym Links or Domain Parking.

I am also trying to take my site online (live) but I am not sure how to configure the site into my root dir.
I know that index.php will have to be there, but the rest of the site is in a folder called Store.

I can reach my site if I type in my browser: https://www.miziaktraders.com/Store/index.php but I need my customers to reach it via: https://www.miziaktraders.com

Anybody know what needs to be done?

Re: Shipping Setting for Multiple Dropshippers

Sign me up, too.

I have multiple suppliers who ship from different warehouses.

It would seem to me that it would be fairly simple for Zen to:

  1. Add a 'supplier' or 'vendor' tables that include an ID and origin zip
  2. Cross reference products and/or categories to those vendors
  3. On checkout, Zen looks at item, vendor and orgin zip, cross references against UPS module, returns freight charge in checkout for each item, grouping items by vendor so that stuff shipping from any given warehouse is only charged freight once.

Sorry if this makes no sense. I'm talking out my arfhole here, 'cause I'm new to zen so I have no clue, but it would seem with all that it can do, this would be a fairly easy thing to accomplish, and I know that I'm not the only one who's anxious for it.

finally got the site online. Still trying to figure out the multiple shipping locations problem though.

I have the same problem. I'm going to solve it by just using one flat rate for all shipping. I have multiple drop shippers that use different rates and different shippers.
