Payment checkout screen not showing up

Hello, I am trying to test the payment system of zencart.

I created an account, and then try to advance through to buy a product. when i get to step two (payment), i am getting a blank page during the checkout process.

I removed all payment modules except the zencart freecard module but i still just get a blank area with the rest of the template shell when i get to the payment step. I've also tried to revert to the standard template and i get the same results (a blank area in the template on the payment step as a customer)

Any ideas as to what would be causing this? I've also removed all of the shipping modules except for flat rate.

Try reloading the files:

/includes/modules/pages/checkout_payment (all files)

/includes/templates/templates_default/tpl_checkout_payment_default.php

/includes/languages/english/checkout_payment.php

Did this solve the problem for this user? I'm still having the same problem on my site. The forum that my original post appeared on is not accepting new posts once the new forum launched so I'm a bit behind in reporting what I'm still experiencing.

I have re-installed the checkout payment files to no avail. I have even gone so far as to install the entire cart on a completely new site (a mirror of this version) and then copied the files that are involved in the checkout_payment and checkout_shipping processes to the https://www.imperialproductsonline.com site. I still get the same problem on the IPO site. Although I don't get the problem on the test site which is on another server with another hosting company altogether.

I had our current hosting company look at the encryption certificate (because I was not running a certificate on the test site) as well as the server operations but nothing seems to be amiss in those areas.

Other things I have found in my testing: I can consistently recreate the problem using browser IE 6.0.2x but when I use browser Firefox 1.5.0.2, I cannot recreate the problem at all.

The client is really getting anxious about getting this problem resolved and I'm out of ammunition to kill this bug. Perhaps there is a ZenCart specialist we can hire?

If you turn off the secure in the configure.php does this correct the issues in IE?

I presume you mean set this line to false?

And did you say that you have 1 directory for your files or do you use 2 directories for secure and non-secure?

When I change that setting to false, when I get to the checkout page, it flickers continually with the message "Web site found...waiting for reply", and then will continue try to load the page but it's "stuck".

We call this a clue ...

Try to find "what" is causing this ... sounds like you are stuck in a loop that sometimes completes and sometimes does not ... so the page times out ...

Here's some additional debugging info I had been looking at:

I replaced the contents of the page ...\includes\languages\english\checkout_payment.php that displays the text "Step 2 of 3 - Payment Information" (which is the page we're trying to get to when we hit the dead link). I replaced it's content with the test text "We are here....". When I tested with this page, the contents of the original page is displayed anyway in addition to my test text. If that whole file is replaced how does it get the original contents anyway? This could be related to customization that I haven't pinpointed.

Also, I contacted Thawte, our certificate provider and they cannot re-create the problem use IE 6.0.2x, Firefox or Opera. So, how can one user of a browser get different results when I'm using that same browswer version on 3 separate machines and get the error every time?

Ultimately, I don't think it's related to the certificate itself. Also, because there are other pages before this step that are called using SSL and there are no problems with those pages.

I still think we are seeing a redirection/coding issue but "where"? If you need more direct access we can get you in to the server.

Have we tried the switch to Classic template trick yet and test your site in IE?

I changed the template to classic and get the same error in IE; the blank page.

The next best thing is to compare a clean Zen Cart for your version to your site via something like Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com where you can do an FTP compare of the files and try to find the break in the code ...

Something is blocking the loading of the page on first hit and I am not seeing it via the browsers easily enough to identify it ...

I already did the compare. I installed a new cart of this same version on a completely different site. Then I compared the imperialproductsonline.com site files against the new install and found no differences in the files in question. I do not experience this problem on the new test site. The test site is not utilizing an encryption certificate which is what made me wonder about the certificate on the ipo site.

Are there any ZenCart specialists for hire? I have run out of possible ideas for a solution for this client, and there is no way he can leave his site like this from now on.

I seem to be having a similar problem. Once I got to the checkout success page
everything but the header was blank. I logged out and everything came back, logged
in and it went blank again. I disabled the order history sidebox and that seems to have taken care of the problem. This is a upgrade from 1.27 to 1.3 using the same database and test customer from the old database maybe that's the problem?

Make sure that the /includes/languages/english/html_includes directory and all files are set to 777

Sounds like the define_checkout_success.php is not set right ...

cyon ... it sounds like what you are saying is that the problems occure if your secure site is enabled ...

If you do not enable it, then it does not occure ...

I have had the same problem on your site where depending on browser I can or cannot see the page intermitently and have seen the reloading page at one point or another ...

I would almost have to think that the certificate is not installed correctly for this site ...

When you say you tested a clean install and had no problems, was it on the exact same server with the exact same version of Zen Cart but in another directory?

Did you try to load your existing database into the test sites database to see if there are any database issues/settings?

I figured out what my problem was. I was using an order history mod which must have changed the database. I swapped the tpl_order_history.php for the old one and everything seems to be working fine. I check more into it tho and probabley won't be using that sidebox anyways.

If you are using v1.3 you need to upgrade, that was fixed in v1.3.0.1 ... among other things ...
