Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Ryk is absolutely correct. This mod was only ever a clever but relatively simple replacement for the default attributes controller that made it quicker to set up attributes, not allow them to be set up with previously non-existent structures.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Ryk:

It is good practice to leave a copy of the original on the server in case something goes wrong. Note that you are overwriting a core file here which will be overwritten by a future ZC update, so I would recommend that you also leave a copy of the modded file, suitably renamed, on the server so you know what to replace after an upgrade.

OK, let me see if I understand you right. I should have THREE files on my server; one the original zen cart file (renamed), one of the new Improved Attributes Controller file (this is the one doing the work), and another one of the Improved Attributes Controller (renamed).

Two renamed files (copies):
File one: attributes_controller_zen_original.php
File two: attributes_controller_modified_file.php

Working file that I downloaded from http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&cPath=40_41&products_id=114
File three: attributes_controller.php

Is this right?

Nobody says you MUST do it this way, but I find it comes in very useful when doing an upgrade.

RYK,

I believe it was just the orignal help file for improved attribute 1.0 is misleading. Thiis is the ORIGNAL HELP FILE. It has been removed since

WHAT DOES THIS MODULE DO?

This module changes the way the dropdown select fields work on the Attributes Controller Page. The content of the second dropdown (option values) is now dependant upon the content of the first dropdown (option names), so you will only see values that apply to the selected option name. Javascript is used to avoid having the page reload when you make that selection in the first box.

THAT is very MISLEADING. I thought that said option dependent ability. That is where all the confusion came from.

Thanks,

Brad

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

yeah, I found my old zips and files. It's the same help file, and I was confused by it as well. Sorry to get you upset Ryk. I just happened to read this while searching for a mod that did the other. But there is another thread that its directly asked and directly answered no.

However this mod does make things alot easier :P ;)

I beg to differ. How can "This module changes the way the dropdown select fields work on the Attributes Controller Page" be in the slightest bit misleading?"

I concede that it does offer "option dependent ability" but it works EXACTLY as advertised... on the** Attributes Controller Page**! Nowhere is there any suggestion that this will allow you to create option dependent attributes on the store side.

If you setup your Option Values properly with default sort order set, you can either hit the Update Sort Order at the top of the Attributes Controller ...

Or ... go to the Tools ... Store Manager ... and globally fix all Option Values Sort Order with:

Update All Products' Attribute Sort Orders
to match Option Value Default Sort Orders:

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

First ... check the settings in Configuration ... Product Info ...

Set to 0 ...

Products Info - Products Option Name Sort Order
Sort order of Option Names for Products Info
0= Sort Order, Option Name
1= Option Name

0
1

Set to 1 ...

Products Info - Product Option Value of Attributes Sort Order
Sort order of Product Option Values of Attributes for Products Info
0= Sort Order, Price
1= Sort Order, Option Value Name

Go to the Catalog ... Options Values Sorter ...

Select the Option Name you want to sort ... click Edit ...

Set all of the Sort Orders for each value ... I recommend setting these by 10s as in 10, 20, 30, 40 ... then hit Update ...

Go to Tools ... Store Manager ...

Find:

Update All Products' Attribute Sort Orders
to match Option Value Default Sort Orders:

Click the Update Button ...

NOTE: it is always a good idea to back up your database before making global changes like this ...

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

You do if you want 2 and 20 not to be next to each other ...

Is it hard to count to 20 by 10s to set these defaults one time for each Option Name?

If it could work on Option Name alone then the same settings would work for you now ...

But if they do not, then it is your naming conventions that do not follow logic to allow a sort to happen ...

Have you a Product where this is not sorting correctly on the Option Values so we can actually see what you are using that is incapable of sorting logically based on how you built the Option Value names?

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I understand the problem now ...

The error is actually in the Add-On program not Zen Cart Code ...

Sorry, thought you could not figure out how Zen Cart worked ...

You will have to fix the Add-on program that you are using to manage the selection of the option values properly ...

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I am using the current version 1.3.7

My Improved Attributes Controller is not working.
I have seen it work before perhaps there is a conflict with my
Stock by attributes mod.

All of my attributes on products are still there.
However when I add a new attribute it doesnt give me any attribute options.

When I replace the attributes mod to one from the orginal installs it goes back to the old version.

Did anyone encounter something like this? Any solution? I reall loved this mod.

Thanks

Is it possible that you have accidentally turned off javascript in your browser?

Notice... No Attribute names shown. yet I have the Sizes allready in for the product....

I guess there has to be easy code fix... I just dont know what....

I added 3 attributes and all of them are ticked. How do I make one or none ticked?

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I just installed the new improved attributes controller.

I need to make some significant global changes to attributes, and was hoping this would make my life easier.

I select an option name (left side placement) and several values (left chest, left sleeve, and none). When I hit insert, the name shows up correctly, but the values all come up as XSmall - the value with the lowest explicit sort order.
Any help would be appreciated.
www.shirtsforbowling.com - we do embroidery, so these options are critical. I'm (of course) very anxious to get the site live.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

A little more info - it does the same thing when I add ONE option value.
So I will be uninstalling it till further notice.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I get the same problem as Mumzie. Whether adding single or multiple option values (with the Improved Atts Controller installed) the name adds correctly but the value/s all default to value id 1 (the first value ever created in Option Values). This seems like a great mod, anyone got a clue as to why all values would be defaulting to 1?

I just now installed it with version 1.3.7.1 and it does the same thing for me. No matter how many option values I select, it sets them all to option value id 1 regardless of which option / option value combination I select.
