Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Yeah there is only the one file... I double checked and reuploaded it earlier and am having the same problem.

Glad to know it's supposed to work though!:D

Supposed to... and does. You either did something wrong or have something conflicting.

MikeX:

Can you elaborate this? Im using ZC 1.2.7, so I downloaded ZC 1.3.0.1

Hijacking another thread here to ask a question about something I'm trying to understand. After reading through a few of the different areas on here I have to ask the question, in order to give a product three different options to be chosen from when placing your order, do you have to install some type of module for this particular attribute to work?

No, that is in the core functionality of the zencart product.

seville:

I uninstalled the improved AC and put the normal one online, that works fine. When I put back the improved AC online, it's not showing anything :( . It would be great if it would work, since I have so many attributes.

Thanks

Seville

Same thing happend to me. Never found a solution?

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

How do I add one Attribute to all my items. I looked through this posting and did not find how to do it. What I'm try to do is add a check box to all the items. I can do it one by one by not all at once.

THANKS

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Th easiest way to add it to all is make a dummy product and add the attributes you want to it.

Then just use the copy to category button in attribute controller ( ignore and add ) then copy to all categories.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Hi all.
I have serious doubt with the entire attributes system.

in my shop, each product has about 25 attributes. Some of them have up to 30 options (i am not creazy, i am selling prescription lenses!)

Now, because the system the way it is now make me save EACH option for EACH attributes for EACH product, my attributes table has about 260 options for each product. the DB is already about to blow.

Now, my problem is not much about the admin panel, for how to add options to a product or not. But really about the DB.
Isnt it there anyway to make this information cleaner and lighter?

according to my understanding of the problem, i should build a template of attributues(and related options) then apply it to the selected articles.
so i shouldnt have a product_to_attributesOptions any more, but a product_to_template only.

when i display product_info.php i should load all the information related to the product + all the attributes in the linked template. thats it.

I am wrong? am i missing any important information in my logic?

please advice on this. Please let me know if any one has worked on this before.
thanks

If you really want that, just don't enter any sort orders for the option names and values when setting them up!

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Thanks Ryk, but I already tried that and the lists show up in a seemlingly random order. My only other option would be to go trough every one and set a sort order but with nigh on 1000 products that will take ages!!

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Try setting the sort orders in admin > catalog > Option Name Manager and Option Value manager (assuming you don't have 1000s of those as well)

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Oh this is just what I was looking for.. I have still 1.2.7 for our own store and now working to build up a really simple store from the new version... the whole attributes pages are reeally a headache.. If I'd have more time and would be slicker with ajax.. it would be just one page and without any confusing options... well I hope this mod helps a lot as well (the 80% of my time for this project is just trying to delete the million excess functions..) well yeah I know how it is and there must be a good reason for every option.. maybe we should start building few different simplified versions of zen for different purposes.. sorry anyway to the topic: Does this mod work with the newest version? Does this mess around anything with stock attributes mod? Many thanks

poosk:

Does this mod work with the newest version?Yes. The attributes controller which it replaces has not been changed in the last two Zen Cart releases (1.3.6 & 1.3.7).> poosk:

Does this mess around anything with stock attributes mod? Many thanksNo. Indeed it's positively recommended for store owners to whom attributes are sufficiently important to warrant using Stock by Attributes.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Does someone know if I also can make a table that include the attributes or can you tell me how to create a table that include some attributes. This differs for some products.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Please Help.......my improved attributes controller stopped working.

I didn't add any new mods, I was just adding new attribute names and values and went to add the attributes to some products, and there is now nothing in the boxes. I did re-upload the original attributes controller that came with the stock zen cart and that works fine, but I really miss my improved attributes controller.

Any ideas?

using the zen 3.7

Thanks
Jackie

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I figured it out, I was using quotation marks for the inches in a product, that goofed things up, once I took those out, all was well again
