Multiple stores with one checkout ?

Gerome:

Hello,

I tried to contact absolute, but got no reply.

I made my own module that allow multiple store with the choice of which category is seen in which shop. You also have a cross basket which allow you to buy products in the different websites using the same basket.

I'm finishing the module soon, my multi shops will be up and running current next week.

You will see it by yourself, then weither or not anybody is interrested, I might make a module for it.

:P

Then i would like to have yours.

Please?

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

guys here is my idea which i guess u can say is similar to the original topic.

secure a 3rd party account. im looking at ccnow or multicards, both with realtime/live gateways. i would design site A to be linked with my merchant account. then collect the customer cc info from site B and site C. use site A to charge the exact order amounts of customer orders from site B and C. since i have adsl with pppoe connection, im assuming i can just log in and out for each individual order i submit on site A and have a different ip each time. in theory would this work out? if not anyone have any suggestions?

also i problem i have figured out is that even though the ip for each cc submission would be different, ALL of my customers are international so would there be problems with my country ip? i believe that the gateway would screen this and i would lose my account? not every single one of my customers can just so happen to be vacationing at my country and just so happen to make an online credit card purchase while here!

please help shed some light. thanks!

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

PLEASE DISREGARD ^ABOVE^ POST
sorry, i was going to edit my post to add more details and be more clear but i went past the 7 minute limit and was unable to edit it. moderators please delete for me thanks.

guys here is my idea which i guess u can say is similar to the original topic:

secure a 3rd party account. im looking at ccnow or multicards, both with realtime/live gateways. i would design site A to be registered with my credit card processor via callback links. then collect the orders as well as customer cc info from site B and site C. after that i would go on site A and use my customers' cc info to place an order of the exact dollar amount that the customer ordered from site B or site C. after their card is accepted/charged, then of course i would send the customer the products they originally ordered on site B or site C. since i have adsl with pppoe connection, im assuming i can just log online and then logout for each individual order i submit on site A and have a different ip each time. this would prevent multiple submissions from the same ip which im assuming would be a big no-no. in theory would this work out? if not anyone have any suggestions?

i believe if i were able to obtain a real merchant account with manual gateway things would work out much easier, but alas i am having the most difficulty meeting all their requirements for obtaining their account. i have found 3rd party accounts such as ccnow.com and multicards.com to suit me best as i can meet their requirements, BUT they only have realtime/live gateways that use callback links. this basically forces me to have to place each order for the customer on my site A in order for the credit cards to be charged.

also i problem i have figured out is that even though the ip for each cc submission would be different, ALL of my customers are international so would there be problems with my country ip? i believe that the gateway would screen this and i would lose my account? this issue is what i believe is my biggest problem because...not every single one of my customers can just so happen to be vacationing at my country and just so happen to make an online credit card purchase while here!

please help shed some light. thanks!

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

salsa37foo, I don't know that much about country ip problems with cc. I've never had such problem thought ...

Ohem, I am currently doing my project for my version of Zencart, it means that when it will be finished, it will still require work in order to provide that into a module. There will be few files to change since not all the files modified can be overridden.

By the way, can I override the classes' files ? (from folder includes/classes ...)

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

Guys any update on this module? Its a very good model for any business that specialises in a few products or ranges, that might be unrelated where the products need supporting content and EZ pages.

For instance if a business specialises in Toasters and MP3 players but does not want to put them both on the same site.

Very keen to here how Absolute is getting on.

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

I just found this post and am also looking forward to this mod. This would be perfect for me since all my stores have different (but similar :D) products, it would be a godsend to be able to keep them together but at the same time separate.

I am keeping my eye on this for sure.

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

Hi,

This is an amazing thread. I wait eagerly for any solution to the problem of multiple sites using one zen-cart database!

Briefly, we sell equipment to one market (churches) and want to sell the same equipment to other markets (public buildings etc). We don't want to have to add products into three different databases each time we add a new product. This would be a nightmare for maintaining.

No special requirements for fancy administration. Simply a different front-end template (i.e. look and feel) for each different URL would be sufficient.

So, I am itching to be able to use some of the work being done in this field. Nothing fancy is needed for a lot of people to benefit from this feature!

Thanks All concerned - keep up the good work!

Tim Ridgway.

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

Absolutely stinging to see this one work.

My plan is to sell websites to companies hanging off subdomains of the main one.
like so:

www.mainsite.com
comp1.mainsite.com
comp2.mainsite.com
comp3.mainsite.com
etc.

We will have one set of products so only really want one database.

I have tried the osc multishop contribution, but cannot make it work as yet. It looks like getting way beyond my php/sql/programming skills.

Arggh getting frustrated.

Cheers all,

Dave.

(Absolute, I will PM to see if you need more testers etc. I need to complete a proof of concept as soon as possible so testing this is a good way forward for me.)

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

Hello Absolute - how's it going?!...

With the release of 'Gerome's' multi-store module, I was wondering if you abandoned work on your project or if you were still just trying to find time for completion. It seemed that you were far too invested to walk away, but we haven't heard from you lately.

Would be interested to see if the features you planned are achievable, and close to release, or if Gerome has the next best thing already completed?

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

I have one site, which is running but basic, I have another 15 or more domain names to get hosted and sell the same stuff.

I am crap at any coding etc, the first site is hosted with siteground and they have a really simple cpanel for installation of Zen.

I am taking payments by Paypal, the ceon mod and soon Google.

My question and request is, what is the easiest way for me to duplicate the working site to all these other domains, but with different logo and contact details.

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

I think that if I left this reply to Gerome, he would say get the other domains hosted by the same people and on the same server and then you can use the multisite module to manage things.

If you can't use the same hoster then I think that cut and paste might be your friend.

:)

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

Yea, fats1964, if you a dedicated server, you can redirect all your DNS to this IP Address and then install the multisite module. More documentation will come for it really soon...

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

Absolute ~ I know I PM'd you on this last year, but I'm up for beta testing for you whenever you need. Plus if you do need webspace, testing space or something PM me I'd be more than happy to hook you up with a unique IP and access and space and the freedom to set up what you need.

Thanks again for all your work, I'm paying (going to donate) you for the module when it's done.

so best of luck mate!

ETA: on the testing bit... LMAO ... I can def. tell you what happens while using it, but I'm off on trying to fix it for you while testing it. But I'll help as much as possible :P

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

Am new to the zen forums so, first will introduce myself. My name is Lee and I have currently, 3 zencart shops and all three go to 1 gateway. Everything works fine the way I set it up, cept, when you go to "secure" it shows the whole url all the way down to the zenid-and a very long number. Is there any way to change this? It really is not a problem, just in looks and I dont want to mess it up which is why am coming here and asking all of you. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Multiple stores with one checkout ?

One big wind up? No - never.

This is one project which has been beta testing for a while, and the current version is only 1.3.7 tested. If I get a chance over the next week or so, amoungst the presents and turkey, I'll be testing with 1.3.8.

I have contacted a few members to test, and my module is currently running 15 stores from one database and install.

One thing to note is that this module has taken a fair few days to code, test and bug-fix, while ensuring that it is pretty much a simple drop in module.

Absolute,

Have you had time to complete the module? I am very much interested in operating multiple stores from one database and install. Please let us know. Thank you.
