I would have to search google for the exact code.

Ok I'll have a look. I didn't know if you had it handy.

Well I have it working or it appears to be working, I still need to do the redirects. It totally messed the layout of my site up, and it's a good job I know what I am doing as to a novice I can see how it would frighten the life out of them. I still have some layout issues mainly on the product listings and other listings such as featured products etc. I'd already made these look good but I when the install of this mod is done it resets some settings in the admin and wreaks all sorts havoc on the front end. In all honesty, if you know you are going to need this (unfortunately I didn't consider it until after I'd built my site) it is best installed before any changes are made. However, so far so good.

Do you know how to set multi site up to use sub directories under the same domain name instead of different domain names?
Would I name site 1's config file like this
https://www.site.co.uk/site1_config.php
Totally Zenned
Would I still need to duplicate each site in its own sub directory? Confused as multisite relies on using different domain names but I have made changes as discussed here https://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?141009-MultiSite-Mod-amp-Sub-Folders-vs-Subdomains

Ok, I am starting to think, I may have thought to easy about this. To eliminate the sub-folder problem, is it an option for you to use sub domains? Like folder1.your_domain.com and folder2.your_domain.com?

I could use sub domain names, although I am not sure how they affect google ranking. I really wanted to avoid that if i could so that everything was under one domain name. I was thinking though, if it came to it and effectively I had to run three separate installs, this module would still be useful for category and template selecting. But obviously the aim is not to go down that route if possible. I think the main problem is that the sub directories don't exist and even if they do they are empty because we are trying to run three installs from one install.

By the way, I'm not even sure sub domains would work as effectively they are sub directories. I could be wrong though.

I've decided the only way I can achieve what I want to do is to have three installs of Zen Cart in three different directories. The multi site module is of no use unless you are using different domain names. I thought I might be able to select different categories for each install, but it relies on the cart having a different templates and the template is selected through the database. Of course if you change the template on one cart it changes it for all of them. So I give up lol.
So another way around this.
I want to display different categories for each cart. I've thought about this and come to the conclusion that if each cart has a parent category with sub categories I should be able to display the sub categories of the parent associated with the cart only. So any idea how I would change sideboxes/tpl_categories.php to display the sub categories of a parent id?
If I can do this then I can have a different tpl_categories.php for each cart that will display the categories of the parent associated with the cart. Does that make sense?

Actinic is not needed but the customer is still using this Ecommerce system. Really it's just an extra step I needed to work around which took ages.
To achieve a custom category list I edited category_tree.php in includes/classes/
I changed the original sql query by adding this
and cd.categories_name LIKE '%KEYWORD%'
where KEYWORD is the word that appears in your category names that you want to show on your shop
Like this
class category_tree {
function zen_category_tree($product_type = "all") { global $db, $cPath, $cPath_array; if ($product_type != 'all') { $sql = "select type_master_type from " . TABLE_PRODUCT_TYPES . " where type_master_type = '" . $product_type . "'"; $master_type_result = $db->Execute($sql); $master_type = $master_type_result->fields['type_master_type']; } $this->tree = array(); if ($product_type == 'all') { $categories_query = "select c.categories_id, cd.categories_name, c.parent_id from " . TABLE_CATEGORIES . " c, " . TABLE_CATEGORIES_DESCRIPTION . " cd where c.parent_id = '0' and c.categories_id = cd.categories_id and cd.language_id='" . (int)$_SESSION['languages_id'] . "' and c.categories_status= '1' and cd.categories_name LIKE '%KEYWORD%' order by sort_order, cd.categories_name"; } else { $categories_query = "select ptc.category_id as categories_id, cd.categories_name, c.parent_id from " . TABLE_CATEGORIES . " c, " . TABLE_CATEGORIES_DESCRIPTION . " cd, " . TABLE_PRODUCT_TYPES_TO_CATEGORY . " ptc where c.parent_id = '0' and ptc.category_id = cd.categories_id and ptc.product_type_id = '" . $master_type . "' and c.categories_id = ptc.category_id and cd.language_id='" . (int)$_SESSION['languages_id'] ."' and c.categories_status= '1' order by sort_order, cd.categories_name";This is just an example of one way you could accomplish this.
Hope the info is of use
I'm trying to implement multistore on Zencart 1.5.5d (Westminster New template) using this method.
All goes well until I try to edit category_tree.php
All stores display all categories. I cannot make it work. Can someone help me?
Administrator
@monkeybus, have you set the categories for each store using Tools->Multisite Tools?
New Zenner
No, I haven't, is Multisite Tools a module?

My bad; I was assuming that you were discussion the Multisite Module ... and that tool is part of the installation.
New Zenner
I went and installed the multisite module, now I've gone and broken my cart.
I'll have to rethink this.

Sorry its taken a while to reply - but I may have good news. I'm currently putting the final touches on a test store which does exactly what your after, and it should be completed by tomorrow.
I'll let you know how I get on.

I'll second the fact that the existing mod is working great on ZC 1.5.1 through 1.5.5e!
