Moving zencart - cannot find Browser option on SQL tab -help!

Note: the 404 queries vs several thousand could be a result of choosing the "Extended Inserts" option while doing the export. This creates one long INSERT statement for each table, rather than numerous individual INSERT's for each record in the table.
The benefit to Extended inserts is the smaller filesize and faster import.
The downside to Extended inserts is that if you wanted to manually edit individual records in the file before re-importing it somewhere, finding the content might be slightly more difficult (but this is generally not an issue in my experience).

Re: Moving zencart - cannot find Browser option on SQL tab -help!

I've contacted Site5 who have told me they've imported data into the new database but I can't check it because I can't access the site. I'm getting a 403 Forbidden error! Spent all day trying different things with no success. Learning lots though :-)

Will update as soon as I have any news.

Many thanks,
Linda

Quite true, but then I'd expect the number of instructions to be around the 250 mark and not up in the 400's (and that's for 1.3.0.1 and not earlier versions with fewer tables).

I admit that this puzzles me, because I've never seen anyone have this much trouble importing such a small database before. I'm beginning to think that it's a server setup problem.

Re: Moving zencart - cannot find Browser option on SQL tab -help!

It's incredibly frustrating. Vger, I think you're right. Site5 did the database import for me and I look at it on phpMyAdmin and the contents of the tables all seem to match.

The problem is my site has been down in the last 19 hours with error 403 (Forbidden error) - all I've been trying to do is import a database! So I have no way of checking and I'm still waiting for a response from my host.

When I get some answers, I'll let you know. It might be useful inofrmation for some people.

Many thanks,
Linda

Re: Moving zencart - cannot find Browser option on SQL tab -help!

Finally, the site is up again. This is what I was told:

"This issue was caused by a permission issue on your public_html directory. It looks like perhaps during the move-in process the permissions on this directory were changed. They've been reset to 755 and your web site is pulling up as expected."

Now that the site is up, I got the same "1146 Table 'admin_zc1.configuration' doesn't exist". My host had imported the database for me in this case. So import/export database doesn't work with my host.

Not knowing what else to do, I have copied my working zencart from the old domain over to this new one and it seemed fine.Does it matter if I didn't follow the instructions in
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/faq.php?faq=server#faq_switch_servers ?

I've basically copied over the contents and modifed both the configure files. Is this OK?

Many thanks,
Linda

Re: Moving zencart - cannot find Browser option on SQL tab -help!

Copying over your folders/files and editing the two configure.php files will get your website (minus the database) installed. Provided that you can get the database installed you should be okay.

Depending on the level of access your host gives you via FTP there may be a way around the database problem as well. If you have access to the mysql folder via FTP then you can just download a copy of the database (its folder and all of its tables) and then upload that to the mysql folder of the new hosts (provided you have access to it with them also).

Re: Moving zencart - cannot find Browser option on SQL tab -help!

I just suggest that you make regular backups of your database manually .... because if for some reason you are "really" using the old database server and they "clean up" thinking you're using it, you might regret it.
Then again, if your configure.php files say you're using "localhost" as a database server, this is a moot point.
