Manufacturer Sale

Set the status on the top level category to OFF or RED ... this will set all subcategories and products to OFF ...

Next, go to the subcategories and turn them back on and tell it to turn on the products as well ...

Kelowna77:

i cant seem to find the catagory status, i know how to disable it, but then it says all linked products will be disabled and i dont think thats what you meant. So at the moment everyone can see hte hidden catagory. how do i make it so its invisible and actually hidden

not 100% sure what you're asking and it depends what version your store currently uses. the new version will disable every product and you'll need to manually make changes before the Hidden Category will stay hidden but the products will show up in the linked categories.

there's instructions [ur=http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51007]here[/url]

Re: Manufacturer Sale

Yes ... :smartalec:

Oh and you want to know how eh?

Peek in the Multiple Categories Link Manager ... click the C for Copy on one of the Products ... it is the button at the bottom ...

AFTER backing up your database incase you moof up ...

There is a section at the bottom of the categories for:

Reset ALL Products in the selected Category to use the selected Category as the new Master Categories ID ...
Example: Resetting Category 22 would set ALL Products in Category 22 to use Category 22 as the Master Category ID

Re: Manufacturer Sale

cool it works  thanks now i have another question... i know how to make 10% off or $15 off price etc. and also that i can set it so only something like any product over $25 is on sale. now is there a way to make everything under a catagory on sale and you get say 10% off of any products that TOTAL $25 of more. like as long as i buy $25 or more of any sale item i get 10%off but if the total is less of all products being bought it won't give the sale?

Re: Manufacturer Sale

This is exactly what I want to do, however, when I try to turn off the category to make it hidden I get this message:

WARNING ...
Note: Disabling a category will disable all products in this category. Linked products located in this category that are share with other categories will also be disabled.

Change the Category Status to: OFF

Change ALL Product Status to: OFF

Also when I try to link the products that isn't a choice, the box is either green or red, it's not turning yellow as it says at the top for linked.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Re: Manufacturer Sale

you could try setting up the category and disabling it before you link any products into it. or if the products are disabled just re-enable them.

to link a product you need to click on the blue C in the Categories / Products listing. choose the Category that you want to link the product into from the drop down box and make sure that the Link product option is checked then click Copy.

Re: Manufacturer Sale

Quick question on this, so if I put the category that is NOT the Master Category on sale, will the product be on sale or not?

Re: Manufacturer Sale

SaleMaker Sales work based on the master_categories_id ... for the Products in a Category that is placed on sale ...

Note: there are some Bug Fixes in v1.3.8 that you would be advised to apply to any v1.3.8 installation:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?p=697924#post697924

There is also an USPS update ...
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97461

Then the Security Alert should also be added:

Re: Manufacturer Sale

So I am not sure I understand...it ONLY works on the master category?

On all the patches, were the files in the download not patched after the bugs were identified? I thought they were, but if not, I'll take care of them.

Thanks!

Re: Manufacturer Sale

The Known Bug fixes for v1.3.8 have not been applied to the v1.3.8 Download ... that is why they are posted ...

Re: Manufacturer Sale

Wow, I'm going to have to be in a much geekier frame of mind to apply all those patches...I had no idea there were so many for the latest release. Will these things never be fixed in the download? I understand you're working on 2.0, but since it's been pushed back and since there's no way to know how long it will take for all of the commonly used mods to be ported to it, would it not be possible to get these bugs fixed and get one last new release of the 1.3.x version so that all new installations don't require so many patches? Sorry, never mean to be ungrateful for all the work you guys do, but to have to patch that many files would be extremely difficult for someone new to coding and extremely time consuming, even for someone who isn't new to coding...just my two cents, for what it's worth.

Re: Manufacturer Sale

It has been stated that at some point there will be a v1.3.9 which includes fixes & patches found in v1.3.8a, but no release date has been set.

The learning is in the doing.

Make a Category called HIDDEN ...

Set the Category HIDDEN to categories_status = 0 or OFF

Move all the Manufactuer Categories into HIDDEN

Now they do not show from the Cat box ...

Thank you so much for this instruction - I have been trying and trying to do this - and it worked!!!!!

I tried updating with this bug fix, but I still can't get SaleMaker to apply a store-wide discount to most of my products. Is it possible this is because I uploaded my inventory using Easy Populate? If so, is there a fix?
