Attributes HOW-TO

Hi Everybody,
I'm new to Zen, and don't seem to get the hang of attributes.

I would like people to be able to download MP3 music from my site. I've figured that part out.

Now, how do I price every MP3 download to be $.49 using attributes?::frust

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

Hi, I'd like to add my question here about attributes. I am offering products and would like to have it set up like this:

Body butter in 3 different sizes @ 3 differnt prices
2 oz. - $6.00
4 oz. - $10.00
8 oz. - $15.00

I would like the options to be in a dropdown box, so how would I go about doing this?

TIA!!

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

I'm sorry I did read thru it but I didn't see anything that specifically applied to this. I'll look again, sorry to be bothersome.

Ajeh:

Not at this time ...

In a future release there will be attribute stock that may help you with this.
hey linda, do you have any idea, when this option will be available? Cause I really need something like a inventory based on attributes.

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

More like a few months on this one ...

To do stock tracking down to the attribute level has a lot of things to take into account to allow for all the different attribute types, combos etc.

If we had stronger support for new features like this, we'd be able to get these things done a lot faster ...

But we have to feed my Kitty ... such a fussy cat wanting to eat on a regular basis ...

But this is one of our priorities to get this added to Zen Cart as soon as we are able.

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

interesting thread :) lots of great information, but like the rest a question...

I know you can add default selection to items and also the "please Select" one to dropdowns, but I want to have various radio buttons for size, colour, type and various other stuff and the client MUST select one or each - is there a check that I can say these must be selected? when they try to "Add to cart"

I cannot use default cos if they don't notice they will end up with the wrong thing...

Hopefully its not before me in the thread if it is tell me and I will go back and read through it again

Thanks
Sarah

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

This is what the attribute setting for:

Used For Display Purposes Only:

You may not add a product to the cart when this is selected.

If you add to Colors a:

Select from below and set this to the default and set to Display only ... it would stop a customer from not picking a valid choice.

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

Hello, I also got some troubles with attributes.
Most of them are working fine but i got a problem with this situation.

A banner costs
1 piece 100,-
5 piece 50,-
10 piece 25,-

Printed in 2 colors + 15%
Printed in 3 colors + 30%
Printed in 4 colors + 45%

Printed double sided + 50 %

-1 piece price in the article base.
-5 en 10 piece price i put in the product price manager

  • I created the correct option names and values
  • the attributs: 2 color: factor=1.15 offset=1 and so on.
    The result is:
everything goes well with 1 piece.
The factor/offset is alway calculated from the base price.
That is not what i want, I want it calculated from the pricemanager prices eg

10 pieces 2 color:
10 * 25,- + 15% gives
250+ 15% from 1000 ( 10 * baseprice ) = 250+150=400

I would like:
10 * 25,- + 15% gives
250 + 15% from 250 = 250+37,50 =287,50

Is there a way to do this? I think i tried everything.

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

There is not a calculation within a calculation on the prices at this time on the attributes.

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

using the attributes controller, I want to discount a product when a checkbox is checked. The kicker is, I want to discount it by a percentage, rather than a set amount. How does my attributes controller need to be set up?

thanks in advance

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

You could add an attribute price factor that would compute a negative amount based on a percentage.

If selected it would then apply that amount to the product.

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

I believe this was covered... but I'll try a go at it.

Set up an Option Name... such as Discount A (as a radio button)
Set up the aprppriate Option Values assigned to Discount A

From the Attributes Menu
Select a Product
Select Discount A from the Option Name window and the discount you added from the Option Values window
Blank out the "+" associated with Price.
In the Price Factor field, enter the factor by which you would like the price to be changed by. i.e. .6 would give you 40% off.
For the Offset field, enter "1"

This is what I've been using.. works like a charm.

Hope my instructions were clear enough.

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

I've been tweaking my attributes today. I have one type set up as a read-only attribute, that will tell people the approximate processing time of an item.

Option Name: Order Processing
Option Values:
-Ready to Ship
-Ships in 3 to 10 days
-Item is customizable

It all works very nicely, appearing beneath the picture of the product, BUT

The words "PLEASE CHOOSE" are inserted automatically. Since this is for informational purposes, only, there is no choice.

The workaround that I'm using for this is:
Under Production Options (Names), there is the section below, where you choose how your images are arranged. There is a box there for "Comments". In that box, I put "Please Read - Important Information".

Now, instead of "Please Choose", that comment shows up in red. This works fine for me, but I wonder if anyone has any other ideas about this? Or any other way to get rid of the "Please Choose" on Read-Only items?

No great hurry for any answers....just thought I'd toss this into the ring.

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

I am looking further into the attributes for when these are the only options ... ie READONLY

The Please Choose is not needed there.

You could also change the define on the Please Choose to '' and nothing would show for now.

Re: Attributes HOW-TO

what else would be nice is a multi copy for the attributes, for example copying attributes and having the select box and multiple select, that way you can copy once to multiple items that maybe don't all fall in the same category group.

Another thing is why sometimes does the attribute page not load well? the price and sort order gets so mixed up sometimes.

Another thing that caught me out was the "ignore specials" option could it be on by default not off.. lol I have to changed the whole section when I applied the special sale!! as I didn't want it to alter the attribute prices at all!

Don't take any of this is picking as its great just when you use it over and over again you see how you woudl like it to work - whether its possible is another thing
