Well...I had done this several months ago. And had forgot I used the sql database add for all countries. I loaded the zone rates mod. I also set zone rates as:
Zone Based Rates

Enable Zones Method
True

Calculation Method
Weight

Tax Class
Taxable Goods

Tax Basis
Store

Sort Order
0

Skip Countries, use a comma separated list of the two character ISO country codes
US

Zone 1 Countries
00

Zone 1 Shipping Table
4:11.95,20:38.95,40:49.95,10000:10%

Zone 1 Handling Fee
0.00

And set the Table rate for US as:
Table Rate

Enable Table Method
True

Shipping Table
25:4.50,35:5.55,50:6.25,65:7.75,100:9.75,150:11.75,10000.00:7%

Table Method
price

Handling Fee
0

Tax Class
Taxable Goods

Tax Basis
Store

Shipping Zone
US

Sort Order
0

I need to set the US as a table rate and international with weight.
As I do test orders system keeps giving me weight.

Sorry for all the confusion...Kim

Re: International Shipping

If I go to your site and enter my address for the US I see the Table Rate ...

If I enter my address as Switzerland I see Zone Rate ...

What is is that isn't working on this?

When I go to checkout as a login user. The top part of page is Shopping Cart contents and has wrong shipping as zone rates. And when you go further down page you see shipping method. You have to click table rate (best way). Then the shopping cart contents change to table rate.

Here is basic screen print.

Please note: you may only use one coupon per order.

Do you understand? I am not sure if I am explaining correctly. Customers think they are being charged the higher zone rate and leave. What can I do?

Re: International Shipping

Thanks for all the great info, but I have a different problem. I sell items for different manufacturers and some offer free ship in the US and others don't. I am very stuck on this one and any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Is this even possible?

Re: International Shipping

I downloaded this add on and see it is for 1.3.5 version. I am using 1.3.7 I am having a devil of a time figuring out how to set free shipping rules so that US (48) get free shipping if order is XXX dollars and All others get free shipping if XXX dollars. Two different price triggers for free shipping. The 48 US states, where shipping is cheap, and the International or everyone else. The free Shipping Options module only list a tax rate zone to apply rules to. If I understand this thread (and I am in the confused and bewildered club) Then I need to create a zone for all 48 US states and that will then apply the rules to orders from the 48 states, however the international orders will not have any free shipping options. I have another store that uses 1.3.8 and the options are the same there, so upgrading doesn't seam to be an answer. I have fixed it so US gets free shipping and international do not. How do I set rules for international so they too can get free shipping, just at a higher dollar amount?

Re: International Shipping

Thanks so much Linda for your posts! Since so many posted so many different variables, I just need the simplest form of this and would like to know:

I only want to offer Free Shipping to only the lower 48 US States but charge for shipping by USPS outside those areas worldwide.

What all do I need to do?

Many thanks,
Frank

Re: International Shipping

I tried inserting your contribution for the 49 states but get the following errors:
Failed: 2
ERROR: Cannot execute because table zen_geo_zones does not exist. CHECK PREFIXES!
ERROR: Cannot execute because table zen_zones_to_geo_zones does not exist. CHECK PREFIXES!
Note: 2 statements ignored. See "upgrade_exceptions" table for additional details.
Any idea why it's not working?

Re: International Shipping

I am trying to figure out something on a clients zen cart v. 1.3.8a

The client wants to exclude some countries from being able to use international 1st class shipping (package & parcel) while still allowing some others to have this option.

Their experience has shown that to some countries they want to make shipping with a tracking number mandatory - which the 1st class option doesn't provide.

Is there a way to do this? I have not had any success finding a solution.

Thanks in advance!

Re: International Shipping

You have 2 choices ...

You can set it to give ONLY Free Shipping on Orders over $100 by going to the Modules ... Order Totals ... Shipping ot_shipping ... and edit that so that Free Shipping is enabled and set to 100 ...

Or, if you want to have a Free Shipping Option plus regular shipping on Orders over $100 then go to the Modules ... Shipping ... and turn on the Free Shipping Option freeoptions and set the Total to >= 100 and then you will see both the Free shipping when orders are over $100 plus the regular shipping methods for those in a hurry ...

Re: International Shipping

Thanks, that was easy. Guess there's no way to exclude the free shipping offer for those using discount coupons. I've looked at the restriction options and don't see any way to limit that.

Re: International Shipping

What method are you using for the Free shipping?

This would take quite a bit of coding as the Discount Coupon is added on the checkout_payment ... and you would need to check for if there is a Discount Coupon then to go back to shipping for a new selection plus the explination that if you use a Discount Coupon you lose the nice Free Shipping that brought you to the store to begin with ...

You are making a zone that needs to have the same data as the tables
zones_to_geo_zones
geo_zones

Tables would have ...

For All Countries except the US you could use this to run through the Admin ... Tools ... Install SQL Patch ...

Re: International Shipping

I really could use some assistance with this... I have been looking for a solution since last August.

I am trying to figure out something on a clients zen cart v. 1.3.8a
I would to exclude some countries from being able to use (USPS) international 1st class shipping (package & parcel) while still allowing some others to have this option.

Is there a way to do this? I have not had any success finding a solution.

Thanks in advance!

Re: International Shipping

yes9310:

I tried inserting your contribution for the 49 states but get the following errors:
Failed: 2
ERROR: Cannot execute because table zen_geo_zones does not exist. CHECK PREFIXES!
ERROR: Cannot execute because table zen_zones_to_geo_zones does not exist. CHECK PREFIXES!
Note: 2 statements ignored. See "upgrade_exceptions" table for additional details.
Any idea why it's not working?

i am getting this same error when trying to load these zones... any help would be appreciated.

edit just figured this out... i removed the 2 "zen_" prefixes and it loaded up correctly.

Re: International Shipping

outsider:

I have set the US and international zone following the instruction from this threat, when i test with the estimate shipping at shopping cart, the US zone works fine, but when i try to choose other country from the drop down, it just keep showing the US rate instead. Hope someone can help me out. Thanks!

What version Zen Cart are you running?

Is this an Upgrade or a clean install?

If this is v1.3.8, you need to save all your settings for your Zones to NotePad and REMOVE, INSTALL and reconfigure this shipping module ...

NOTE: for All Zones not defined, you should see that you can use 00 instead of each separate country, once this is done ...
