1 attribute for download and 1 for ship to customer

kinget:

I have the same situation with the cart I'm setting up. I did my attribute in a download select menu. Should I only use radio?

Yeah use only Radio for downloads

The download file is the base price and the shipped version has an additional charge plus shipping. However, if you select the download it still shows all the shipping options, and if you select the ship by mail version, it shows the free shipping when you get to the check out page...ARG!!! what am I doing wrong? Do I also not have my shipping set up correctly? I'm going to double check the product options and try adjusting the weight as u suggested, but I still have had no luck.

In admin check out: modules/shipping. Is that all se up as desired?
On the product page itself what are your shipping settings?

For downloads to work properly verify the following:

  1. In attributes that the file is showing with a "green led". Green led means it can find the file. If this is red, it means it cannot see the file.
  2. On the attribute check that Weight is set to -, if this is set to + it will ask for shipping adress
  3. Do you know which folder is the download folder? Its called download.
  4. Did you add the name of the file in the attribute that belongs to the product (this means uploading the file using FTP to the download folder, and copying the exact filename into the correct attribute field).
  5. No spaces in the filenames, add an underscore instead

I'd like to have the download version with no additional charges or shipping, and the mail option then to only show shipping and not show the free shipping option, or should I turn free shipping off all together? I'm using the FedEx modules, for Fedex, which are already set up.
Add desired price to the download-attribute-radio. If no price is set there then it
will cost what is set on the product itself.

ZenCart? Oh yeah sure!

Downloads should be set as:

1 Product is Virtual NO

2 Always Free Shipping: No, Normal Shipping Rules

3 On the Attribute itself leave the Weight Prefix blank as in nothing and the weight itself blank, unless you have an option setup where the Product is either a Download --- OR --- a Physical Product

Re: 1 attribute for download and 1 for ship to customer

thank you, thank you for this info. It does work and I managed to get it set up....so far everything works as you described.

I noticed you did have to have that file listed in order for the downloads to be set up - and the download is also working just fine.

However, I copied from a demo product that was listed in zen that did it with a pull down menu, and it works just as the radio buttons. I don't think it matters what type of selection you use, or at least it seems to work with either type.

Thank you, thank you a million times over, for all the help and great advice. :-)
