I'm sorry but, I have to tell you in all honesty that you have so many things thrown at this that I can't see the forest for the trees.
In all your sites, you've changed core files, used outdated mods, and added stylesheet information to core files wherever you felt necessary.
This site currently has 7 css errors and 47 html problems just on the main page. I spent three hours last night trying to figure out what is going on with your other site and, still don't understand how everything got to where it was. There are so many "illegal" placements in the html generated for your home page that I'm surprised it opens.:(
I'm not trying to belittle your efforts and have withheld comment till now because I didn't want to stomp on your enthusiasm and desire to get it right. I do think it's time to steer you in the right direction. Or, at least, a better one.
Like you, when I first started, I tried to fix it all at once. After two+ years, I'm still recovering from my haste in getting one site "fixed" and on line.
No one on this forum is an expert in all phases of Zen Cart. But many come darned close. I think they would agree with me that you will be better served in the long run if you try to regroup in a fresh cart, get the stylesheet set for the "look" you want, and slowly incorporate the mods you feel you need to include.
Don't touch any core files unless absolutely necessary. You will still be able to present the look you want by using the stylesheet. Be leery of mods that have their own stylesheet and, if possible, incorporate them into the one stylesheet.
I used to have a sign over my desk in the military that summed up my feelings about how the place worked. "Never enough time to do it right but, always enough time to do it over!" If you have to temporarily sacrifice features for a site that "must" be online, so be it. It's much easier to add things one at a time to an established site.
Again, I applaud your tenacity and conviction to quality. Along with others on this forum, I pledge to help you whenever possible.
