PAYPAL Payment but no order !

PS Perhaps installing the Recover Abandoned Carts module would help - I think that will see these orders as "abandoned"

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

Yes, Paul, I would be delighted to test it. Thank you for taking the time to look at it.

Aside from anything else, taking money from a client without a visible record of what it is for is unacceptable financial practice in the UK, so anything that addresses the issue has to be worth a try.

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

Yup, that works fine :-)

I set the amail notification to "false" as I had already asked the customer to re-enter the order, but the data all came through to the orders table fine :-)

Nice one, thanks :D

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

Thanks all for testing :smile:

Because quite some people appeared to be interested in an improved version of this mod I decided to upload the zip: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?p=560462#post560462

It's still very basic, but improved a lot compared to the 2.0 version.

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

hi

i set this mod up

but you still can't see exactly what the customer ordered, or their address, etc.

I thought that was the point of the mod?

If you read the readme it tells you that it's a bit cryptic.

Look carefully and you will realise that the numbers shown are the product IDs; you have all the address info because the customer had to create an account prior to placing the order.

Remember, this is a quick fix donated for free.

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

Thanks to paulm for uploading an improved version of the mod.

I'm confused about where I need to enter password and IP address, however:

  1. Any password I designate, correct?
  2. Can I put in more than one IP? I'm in Colorado and my client is in Indiana. Also, what happens if our respective ISPs change the IP address? Or am I completely off track?

Do I have to put in these things for the mod to work?

thanks!

  1. Yes.
  2. Seems as if you can just ignore the IP (which is a good job for all those people not on fixed IPs! :D)

  1. Seems as if you can just ignore the IP (which is a good job for all those people not on fixed IPs! :D)It should be ignored when you use an empty string. But if you fill in your ip-address it should check it. If a wrong ip lets you complete the orders anyway please report it here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?p=560462#post560462

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

Thanks for reply Ryk - I'm not knocking it, just can't seem to gather any useful info. I'm sure it is useful.

What I need to find is some reference to product purchased. Would this bit be the product ID?:

cartID => 62395

If not, what bit is the product ID? If i can find this I can then find out what the product is, theoretically. Saying that, i can't see how you search for product ID in admin, doesn't appear to be a search for that.

Help appreciated.

By the way - is PayPal behaving pareticularly badly for anyone else right now? - none of the new orders are registering in admin, not visibly anyway.

I've completely had it with PayPal. I had the earlier version of View Stuck Orders installed and it was working fine, other than for some reason, they'd be "stuck" but some would also have gone through as normal as well. I upgraded to the new version of the mod and now when we try to push the stuck order through, it takes us to a customer login page on the front end.

I'm giving up and looking for a way for people to choose paypal as their payment, but instead of having it go through automatically, my client will process the order and then invoice the customer. I don't know if that exists, but I have to make it happen before my client completely freaks out on me.

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

Tracey

A client of mine has potentially lost thousands of pounds of sales becuase of this issue. The orders do seem to be logging again, but want to drop PayPal as soon as possible.

It sounds like you got the hang the stuck orders module. Could you let me know what bit of the code/script is the product ID? And, also, when you have identified the ID how do you search for it in the shop admin, without having to sift through all cateogries and products, of which there are thousands??

help appreciated

I don't think that the listing of the stuck orders shows anything that is the product ID. I think it merely points to the order in the db. When you push the stuck order in the admin, is it not moving it to the orders page?

This part is the part that tells you where in the db the product info is, from what I can tell:

[contents] => Array
(
[1502] => Array
(
[qty] => 1
)

    )also, we're finding that even though they are "stuck" the exact same "stuck" orders are also in the orders area. So I am calling it a big waste of time and moving on. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck!

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

By any chance has there ever been a fix to this problem???

I just had a customer order something, and i never got any kind of order from it. All i got was the paypal payment, so i had to contact the customer asking what they ordered.

Yes: Use PayPal Express Checkout instead.

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

DrByte:

Yes: Use PayPal Express Checkout instead.

We just had this happen on our site today using PayPal Express.

This was a PP Express Checkout order because there was no new customer registration for this person and PayPal shows 'Express Checkout Payment Received'.

Nothing is showing in the PP debug file.
All we got were two PP emails for two separate transactions within minutes of each other (different transaction ids), but each one for the same identical item.

We offer free shipping for orders over $99. The PP payment email we received had a model # attached to it and was for an item priced at $119.95, but shipping had been charged.

I know occasionally I've seen a 'lag' in PP orders showing up in the admin, but we got these emails over 3 hours ago and nothing is showing in the admin.

The customer did contact us a few minutes ago asking to cancel one of the duplicate orders. We have contacted him back and are awaiting his reply to see what/if anything he experienced on his end.

Any ideas what might be going on?

Edited to add: 1.3.9h version cart
Only payment mods installed/in use are Authorize.net, PayPal Website Payments Pro and PayPal Express.

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

A friend of mine is having this problem on her website (brand new site) and I'm trying to help her fix it. Her site is in French and I've checked her paypal profile settings and they are all set right. The only thing I can think of the the cURL status & address. I've never worked with her web host before (PlanetHoster) so I'm having her check with them to see if they even work with Zen Cart and if there's a cURL setting that needs to be set. Has anyone here ever worked with them and if so do you know what could be causing the problem. The payment goes into paypal just fine but there's no order and when the customer is redirected there's no order number and nothing in the account history. Would love any suggestions while we wait to hear from the webhost.

Re: PAYPAL Payment but no order !

DrByte:

I'd need to see the PayPal Debug Logs from that transaction, and any myDebug-xxx logs from the same timeframe.
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61199
https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=82

Thank you for the quick response, DrByte!

That's one of the problems...there are no myDebug-xxx logs for that timeframe or any PayPal Debug Logs for the transaction.

The only thing I'm seeing in the log files even close to the same timeframe is in the PayPal logs for the last successful transaction prior to the one we had the problem with.

The transaction with the issue occurred around noon on the 26th. The last successful transaction was shortly after midnight on the 26th and I'm seeing 5 separate log entries for that one transaction. Would those logs help any?

I tested the Express Checkout myself this morning, but that one went thru fine. But I already have a test account on the website that uses the same email address as my PP account, so I don't know if that made a difference.

The customer hasn't responded yet with any details, so I don't know if he used an existing PP account for the purchase or if he chose the 'pay with a credit card' option. (If that would make a difference. I'm just trying to allow for all the variables.)
