How do EZ-Pages work?

Ah, so simply copy one of my existing pages to duplicate the template, edit to create accessory page, and upload to server? Got it! Forget about E-Z pages? When would I use E-Z pages?

PS I tried doing the EZ page thing but keep getting PAGE NOT FOUND

I'm trying to add an ez-page. I read (skimmed) through most of this thread and read the FAQ. In the end, I found and followed these steps...

First, in the admin, go to Tools-> EZ-Pages

Open a new file.

Decide where you want the page to be linked from, in the side boxes, header, footer, etc. and click yes/no button for each.

Put any html content in the big box.

Click 'insert'

Poof! it is done!

Here is a pic of my new ez-page in my Admin...

Can anyone tell me why this new "TESTER" page does not show up in my "More Information" sidebox?

It's just a thought, but I see you don't have an internal link, so where is the link supposed to go to?????????

The way I understand it is that the link "TESTER" sould go to the ez-page "TESTER" that I have created. No?

Internal Link URL: If specified, the page content will be ignored and this INTERNAL alternate URL will be used to make the link...

Otherwise an internal link to a different page would take the "TESTER" link to a page other than the "TESTER" ez-page I created.

At least that's the way I'm understanding ez-pages; create a page name, page location and give it some content.

Am I wrong?

Have you turned on the More Information sidebox in Admin/Tools/Layout Boxes Controller?

And it needs a sort order #, but you have that. 0 sort order = off.

Yes. My sidebox is turned on in both locations, and my sort order is #4.

Have you tried to see if you can get the link to appear in the header?

Turning on "Header" and "Footer" creates a Header bar for the link and puts the link in the Footer bar next to the "Home" link, and both links work.

Any ideas why the link doesn't show up in my "More Information" sidebox?

It's just a thought, have you restrained the sizes of your side boxes by any chance - are they able to expand if you were to add another link in there other than a ez page?

Try giving the side box sort order a higher number.

::lightbulb:: EZ Pages sidebox title is Important Links. And in Admin/Tools/Layout Pages Controller, it would be the sideboxes/ezpages.php. If you turn on that sidebox, it'll probably be there.

How did you add your other pages in the More Information sidebox? Did you customize Page 2, 3, 4? Make new ones with the
About Us contribution, or the define pages generator?

Now I have THREE "Blah, blah LINKS" sideboxes. Dang... That's a lot. I suppose asking how to get them into ONE sidebox is in another thread.

I have a link in my EZ pages sidebox to an external site - can I add a logo and/or iamge? and if so, how?

I want to instances of ez-pages on my left side. One to be renamed 'resources' for small tutorials etc and the other simply to contaion links about the store/company etc etc. What are my options here? i tried putting in one of the other ones like 'information' and editing it but it wasn't letting me edit or rename the links there.

Any ideas/suggestions appreciated.

You could use one of the blank sidebox contributions and add whatever you want to the new sidebox.. I suggest using the Admin Editable sidebox contribution which allows you to edit your sideboxes using the defined pages editor..
