Ultimate SEO URLs

Hello,

I've just install the mod for ZC 1.3.7 and it works fine

I used it in a French environnement and I would like to configure it to take in account the French apostrophe when it builds links. For example :

Category = "Pour l'été" should become "pour-l-été" and not "pour-lété" as it is built by now. I need this because the keyword is "été (summer)" and not "lété".

I tried to define "special character conversion" in SEO admin but without success.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hello,

The installation of the mod works perfectly on my provider platform but I can't achieve to install it on my development env.
I get an error : can't redeclare .../includes/classes/seo_install.php at line 26

The dev env. is in fact a PC running Apache.

Any idea?

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

I've got this working and it's working very well. Except for an error I am getting in my website error log.

I continue to get the following error on my server:

RewriteCond: NoCase option for non-regex pattern '-f' is not supported and will be ignored.

I have the .htaccess file as per the sample in the ditribution. I believe the offending line is:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f [NC]

Do I just remove "[NC]" from the end to fix this or am I missing something else???

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hi everybody,

Does Ultimate SEO work fine with Adwords (Google Analytics). I have read that Magic SEO seems to have some problem with that and wanted to know whether there was any similar issue with Ultimate SEO.

I was about to buy the Magic SEO but then was turned off by the price and the fact that I have to buy one license for each site. Hoping I can stick with Ultimate
.
Thanks

This issue was solved completely by adding possiblity to disable Strict URLs:

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hey,

I have this contribution installed on my 1.3.8a store and it works great (although renaming ezpages would be great!).

However, i would like to know the consensus of opinion - does this help your search engine ranking or not?

Thanks,
Fergus

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hi There!

I have downloaded and installed Ultimate SEO URLs 2.106 for Zen Cart 1.3.8.
exactly as stated in the the readme.txt.

SEF seems to work in in the store front, however i cannot access SEO URLS
in admin configuration.

Its seems like the installer is not inserting the required fields in the configuration table.

Please note this is a fresh install of zen cart 1.3.8

Can some please assist.

Thanks in advance

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Same thing here.. Installed as per directed in the Readme file yet nothing appears on the configuration menu.

I am running a clean install of zen 1.3.8a, php v 5.2.6 (Zend: 2.2.0), and MySQL 5.0.45.

Attempting the Ultimate_SEO_URLs_v2.106 Mod (as well as attempted with the Ultimate_SEO_URLs_v2.1 one as well)

Anyone have any possible solutions for our challenges? Thanks

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Did you do all 3 steps? Especially #2

  1. Copy files from _zen_cart_folder to your Zen Cart install
  2. Copy (or MERGE if you have made changes) files from v138-specific-files to your Zen Cart install
  3. A sample .htaccess file is included. Simply rename to .htaccess and edit the word /shop/ to match your site
  4. Config the module in CONFIGURATION - SEO URLS

This worked without problems on my new install even with quiet a few extra mods.

Maybe if you followed security measures and renamed the admin folder to something else before you uploaded Ultimate SEO....?

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Yes, a merge was performed of those files. Each of the three different clean installs of v1.3.8a on, get this, two different webhosting accounts that have the same info as I posted above.

Which version did you do a clean install on, 1.3.8 or 1.3.8a?

Also, I have the latest attempt live at http://babybearsresalewear.com . I notice that when I created a test product that when I click on it - it does give me the url in the address bar but executes it as a "404 Not Found" error. I am guessing this is because I cannot see it to configure it on the admin side.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

1.3.8a installed with fantastico

discountbabyshowerfavors.com if you want to have a look...

I am sure you missed something. I did nothing more then follow the instructions.

Maybe try and save your merged files, then upload the original Ultimate SEO files and see if it works. Install, merge your mod after USEO works. Maybe this will get you closer.

.htaccess where did you put it? If you installed it in the domains root, make sure you used RewriteBase /

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

yes, the file is located in the root of the domain, however, not sure what a "RewriteBase" command is or how to run it.

I opened a ticket with the webhosting company for guidance on that, unless you can shed a bit of light on what the "RewriteBase" is or how I do it. Thats probably the problem...

Thanks

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

open you .htaccess file and replace /shop/ with just /

Here it is what it has to look like in your file after you did the change:

NOTE: Replace /shop/ with the relative web path of your catalog in the "Rewrite Base" line below:

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

I noticed most of the problems people have with SEO url's is related to the .htaccess file.

Here are some basics:

For the Ultimate SEO purpose, .htaccess need to go in the folder that it needs to control.

This has nothing to do with the root /public_html/ in your hosting account just with the location relative to the domains root.

Your domain root might be /public_html/mydomain but test zencart is installed /public_html/mydomain/testzen

So your .htaccess will be put in /public_html/mydomain/testzen
In this case you would have to set RewriteBase /testzen/

.htaccess RewriteBase needs to be set relative to the folder structure of the domain.

If installed in a sub directory of the domain, RewriteBase /subdir/

If installed in a sub directory of the domain, RewriteBase /

I hope this will help.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies.

It works for me now. SEO URL shows at the end of the drop down menu for configuration. Running zen cart on the same spec as nutzguy.

Nutzguy make sure all the files are uploaded to your server. In my case its seems my ftp program did not upload or overide certain files.

Let me know if you got it up and running. I am also new to zen cart and will gladly assist where i can.

oh duh, sorry. I was thinking I had to run something in addition to it.. no, thats handled too.

Even downloaded that ftp program suggested too.. re-uploaded all the files and didnt work.

Contacted hosting company to ensure that I had mod_rewrite module enabled in apache and they confirmed it and sent me some links.. blah blah blah..

Anyway, no, thanks for your help. I did get the menu option on the configuration list now - it reappeared with the upload - however, when its enabled it still kicks it to a 404 page not found. If I disable it, works the old way.

Bummer.. wish I could figure it out. Probably something wicked silly I am missing/screwed up.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

mydanilo:

Your domain root might be /public_html/mydomain but test zencart is installed /public_html/mydomain/testzen

So your .htaccess will be put in /public_html/mydomain/testzen
In this case you would have to set RewriteBase /testzen/

That is incorrect.

When you use "/" at the beginning of a path within an .htaccess file, it tells Apache to start in Document Root -- which is where the public files are.

To use your example it would be:

test zencart is installed /public_html/mydomain/testzen

.htaccess will be put in /public_html/mydomain/testzen

In this case you would have to set RewriteBase /mydomain/testzen**/**

IMPORTANT: note the trailing slash at the end of the path.
