Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

I noticed when i search for something that returns no matches i am redirected to the advanced search page results without the message atthe top that says "No results found." Turning off seo gets rid of this problem. sorry, i treid to search if there is some mention out there but could not find one.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

I do not have this problem.....

http://prominentpets.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search&search_in_description=1&keyword=fffff&inc_subcat=0&sort=20a

In fact I have checked quite a few without this issue. Did you double check your SEO urls configurations?

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hi,
I have been reading this thread and i realize i might have the same problem.

my website is sgweddingfavors.com. When i enter "site: sgweddingfavors.com" into google, the backlinks to my site shows up but not to my site. There are other urls index as well, like to my faq page and my login page but not to my main page.

Initially i thought it was because i have the "noindex, nofollow" thing in the meta tags, but from what i read, i dun think its the case.

Can anyone advise on this? my site is more than 2 months old already...i have a blog at https://www.sgweddingfavors.com/blog which is indexed...but just not the main site!

i went everywhere to look for answer but couldn't find any solution. I would really appreciate if someone in zencart forum can advise me...

thanks,
Henry

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hi Melanie,
Is "noindex, nofollow" really the issue? Cos i went to another wedding favors website, and i saw that they also used "noindex, nofollow" but the site is indexed and have a PR of 4 or 5. The site is https://www.myweddingfavors.com. It is not run on zencart, i think its on yahoo stores.

So if some sites can be indexed and ranked highly with a "noindex, nofollow" meta tag, could the problem be something else?

Or is it more likely that the owner switch the meta tags to "noindex, nofollow" after all the pages were indexed?

can the esteem people in zencart share with me your experience and give me some advice?

thanks!

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

It cannot happen.... NO page can be indexed with a noindex tag. This is your problem, guarantee it.

Or is it more likely that the owner switch the meta tags to "noindex, nofollow" after all the pages were indexed?
It matters little because their tag is miscoded and NOT working properly, or even a dynamic tag that is triggered with an include.

None the less, IF it were working properly the pages would eventually all be deindexed.

But, seriously.... You need to read up on your stuff. PR has NOTHING to do with rank, indexing nor this tag. PR is a relative score representing the number of incoming backlinks to a page.

The "NOINDEX" part of this tag does just that, prevents indexing
The "NOFOLLOW" tags prevents ANY links on a page from being followed out from the page.

Your noindex, nofollow tag is working perfectly and these pages in your site with the tag will NEVER be indexed, nor ranked..... But build links to them and they can accumulate PR.

But hey... why take my word for it http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=93710

You can lead a horse to water.....

Their tag is not functioning...... It is either miscoded or part of a process that is only active when turned on.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Melanie,

Turn off your SEO and then you will see what i mean. Your result does not return any resutls. But when it does that it sould say at the top "There is no product that matches the search criteria."

Check this out:
http://pencraftcreations.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search&search_in_description=1&keyword=asdfasfsaf&inc_subcat=0&sort=20a
(not my website...)

Thanks for your help!!

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

It has ZERO to do with Ultimate.... load this page ```
http://pencraftcreations.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search&keyword=asdfasfsaf&search_in_description=1&inc_subcat=0&sort=20a

Then hit the search button... and you will see this.
![](http://prominentpets.com/images/special/Image1.jpg)
Same thing here```
http://prominentpets.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search&keyword=fffff&search_in_description=1&inc_subcat=0&sort=20a

The reason is you are loading the resulting page directly and not with an active session..... So no alert.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hi all,
my site is getting indexed now, after i change the meta tags to "index, follow", however i realize all my pages, which includes the ones i dun wanna index such as "log in", "my account", "shopping cart" are being indexed now.

Is there any other pages that i forgot to list which should NOT be indexed?

And how do i disallow these pages from being indexed?

many thanks,

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

You need to repair your site... you broke it by removing the tag. Here are the directions to remove it properly.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hi Melanie,
I supposed the above reply was for me? You are saying by including the code into the specified file as mentioned in the link you gave, i can remove those that are not supposed to be indexed, is that right?

I am saying you broke the function you are speaking of.... and you should restore your html_header file and complete the fix in the link I provided you.

You removed the noindex, nofollow tag improperly and broke your cart. You must restore the html_header to how it was originally and then complete the fix described here....
