Ultimate SEO URLs

I installed this mod a while ago. Now I'm very close to going live I have had second thoughts and don't want to use it. Is it ok to just turn it off via the admin control panel or will not uninstalling have any side effects, for instance loading speed etc?

Thanks.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

You should be able to turn it off in your admin without any issue. Uninstalling it is quite a chore

Sorry to bother you again Melanie,

I have turned off seo urls via admin, all urls have been changed back to dynamic ones. I have cleared the SEO URL cache via admin however I can still visit produt pages via the OLD seo urls? How can I stop this?

Thanks

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

You can't unless you uninstall it.... But you stated the site was not live yet... So these urls should not be indexed in which case it doesn't matter as they can no longer be generated.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

So strange - I've installed and reinstalled this on my cart and cannot get it to show up under my Configuration options. My admin folder isn't default - does this mod care? I'm using a patched v of 1.3.7 and v2.105 (which is 1.3.7 compatible from what i'm reading.)

Thanks much...

Yes, you can just turn it off and you'll be fine.

Your site appears to work fine. Sometimes htaccess updates can take a bit or maybe you had a stale cache

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Installed OK and gives me correct settings in the URL i.w. /websitename/category/itemname but it only shows the main page. Once i turn SEO off via admin I can click on categories and it shows the items. Turn it on and I only see the main page again.

I installed htaccess in my includes file. Is this correct. I also modified the /SHOP/ with my relative web path which I think is /public_html/includes/ again I don't know if this is correct or not.

Many thanks

The problem is likely your relative path. This is supposed to be the directory Zen Cart is installed in. If it's in the root directory, as it sounds like it is, your path is simply /

Try that and see if it works. If not, what is the url for your store?

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hmm, just to confirm, your htaccess file should be:

RewriteBase /

It's rewriting the url's, they're just not displaying correctly. Something is missing. Double check all the files are installed in the right place and that nothing else is in you htaccess file that might be messing it up.

.htaccess is

RewriteBase /

Will check all the files and see if I've missed something

Cheers

Has anyone using Ultimate SEO been able to get Fast and Easy checkout or Fast and Easy Ajax Checkout to work? The author states that it currently will not work with Ultimate SEO.....

The above did work for a night but when I came to look at my site today received the following:-

**"Not Found

The requested URL /bangles-c-3.html was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

**

When I turn SEO off the message goes away but that's not the point.

Any ideas anybody

Thanks
