Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

First off nice template!

Ok, I wanted to use some of your simple template and didn't know what code did what to make it work. What I wanted to do was use the header and the 3 links next to it. How was this done? I attached the section in question. Thanks!

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

OK I got it to work (Image Included) but I don't understand how. Here is what I did.

  1. Copied the Simple_Zen_Template_2.1\includes\languages\english\simple_zen\header.php to my template. Note: It only hade one change from origional and that was the tagline.
  2. Copied the Simple_Zen_Template_2.1\includes\templates\simple_zen\images
    A. logo.gif
    B. shadow.gif
    C. topnav.gif
  3. Then I added the code to MY stylesheet.php
* {
	margin:0;
	padding:0;
	}

AND

/* BOF Top Nav Links with Image (shopping cart/contact us/my account). If you'd like to use text links only, comment out this section, and un-comment out the following section*/

#tagline {
	float:right;
	height:70px;
	width:336px;
	}

#tagline ul {
  	height:86px;
  	margin:0;
  	width: 336px;
	background:#fff url(../images/topnav.gif) no-repeat right top;
  	}

#tagline li {
  	list-style-type:none;
  	width:0;
  	height:67px;
    position:absolute;
  	}

#tagline a {
	float:left;
  	height:0;
	position:absolute;
  	color:#000;
  	text-decoration:none;
 	padding-top:66px;
  	font: 1.5em;
 	}

#tagline a#sc{
  	position:absolute;
  	left:30px;
  	top:0px;
  	width:90px;
  	}

#tagline a#cu {
  	position:absolute;
  	left:140px;
  	top:0px;
  	width:85px;
  	}

#tagline a#ma{
  	position:absolute;
  	left:250px;
  	top:0px;
  	width:85px;
  	}

#tagline i{visibility:hidden}

/*EOF Top Nav Links with Image */

Here is what I don't understand. Nothing worked untill I added the

  • {
    margin:0;
    padding:0;
    }

In my stylesheet? What is *

Thanks,
Chad

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

Thank you for this lovely template. I've imported a different logo.gif which is slightly deeper than the one you specify. The top nav bar on the right (shop cart, contact etc) now looks a little too high and I would like to shift it down a tad but I can't find the stylesheet tags which does it. When I switch on edit stylesheet in Firefox (web dev exten.) the nav bar disappears.

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

Better way to get an answer is to include a link to your site. It's hard to answer correctly. Especially when you have made changes.

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

jettrue:

Get it here.

The download includes the buttons, the images, the css, and the needed files.

I wanted to offer a simple and uncluttered option for a zen cart, without all the clutter. Of course you can add as many sideboxes as you want, and can keep the left and right sideboxes on if you like, but I prefer only having one side on.

Complete instructions are in the download. I would not be surprised if I forgot to include a file or two, so holler at me if it looks grossly different when you install it.

You can see it in action at: http://www.simplezen.sagefish.com

Feel free to ask any questions here, and let me know if you need any different colors for the gradient in the header.

I've already realized a mistake in my upload.. I added a link to the wishlist in my header, since I installed that mod, so if you're not using the wishlist mod, you'll need to remove that link. I'll add that to a subsequent post.

I have NOT tested this in IE, so can someone please send me a screenshot if things look whacked in IE.

Thanks and Enjoy!

Hi there. I'm very new to trying to learn ZC, using the current version. Could you tell me how you do the mouse roll over that shows the enlarged image on your test product in the right side of the sample page? What determines the size of the image? What would I have to do to get an image about 3x that size to show when the mouse rolls over my products? My website is www.p a p e r p o t a m u s .com. Thanks for your time.

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

Hello
I need to use a separator (it could be the same grey one as you used in Categories - code <hr id="catBoxDivider"/>) between Boxes (search, Languages, currencies etc.)
Someone asked me to do this he said that templae looks great but Boxes are too close to each other which makes his site barely legible.
Another question is how can I change font and font colour ?
Can you explain me how I can change Home and Log In into more visible buttons (change them into icons like you used for shopping cart, contact us and my account)

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

I've searched just about everywhere and can not find an answer to solve my issues. I have attached an image of the main page of my site. Can someone tell me how to :

  1. Increase margins so images are touching the top border. My image sizes are 100x100 not the standard 80x80.

  2. Do something about the length of product titles. Can I wrap the text?

  3. Remove the "Details" button from front page. I just want the image and the product title.

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

Hey guys,

I have a quick question. I don’t use any boxes at all but space on the left and right is still occupied can I somehow change CSS so that area is taken by product itself (kind of stretch out middle column)?

Thanks,
TheGuest

If you login to your admin and click on Configuration - Layout setting you can turn off both left and right column globally there. You will see a value that looks like this:

Column Left Status - Global
Column Right Status - Global

By default it's set to 1 which means active. Changing it to 0 disables it.

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

Really like this design but I seem to have lost the icons on the right hand side of the logo for contact me, shopping cart etc. What/s happened? Many thanks.

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

This may be a Zen Cart issue not Simple Zen but can I stop the products rotating on the main page each time the page is refreshed or revisited.

On testing some of my testers said it annoyed them that the product had moved from its previous position.

On testing some of my testers said it annoyed them that the product had moved from its previous position.

The exact quote was

"I found it a bit disconcerting that a different layout of items appeared each time I went back to the Home page. I believe that potential customers might be put off if they couldn't find the alarm clock that they had seen top left. They possibly might not have the gumption to search elsewhere. By all means have new items highlighted on the right but also have them on the main list and in the same position each time."

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

Ok, the last post to this thread was over two years ago. Boy, do I feel all alone! I hope someone is out there to help me!

I've taken over support of a Zencart site, v1.3.8a, and I'm upgrading it to 1.5.x. I think my site is using the Simple Zen template (as shown in the template_info.php file). Does the latest version of Simple Zen Template, v2.1, work with 1.5.x?

Thanks!!

Tom

Re: Simple Zen Template - Support Thread

I've confirmed that I have Simple Zen v2.1 on my v1.3.8a Zencart site. Sooooo, I should be able to copy over all of the Simple Zen files from the v1.3.8a site to the v1.5.1 site.

Make sense or am I off-base here?

Thanks!

Tom
