Re: Sales report 2.0

Pauls:

Well I can't make it work following the steps above in either Firefox or Internet Explorer, would somebody kindly state the steps to follow to show the monthly (daily) totals between two dates, thanks.

PaulS... I see you're in the UK. IF you enter 04/08/2006 thru 04/09/2006 in US format is April 8th through April 9th. If you want to do August 4th thru September 4th, you need to enter 08/04/2006 thru 09/04/2006.

As a helpful hint, near the text "Custom Date Range", Blindside could put a mm/dd/yyyy so people know what format to use.

Re: Sales report 2.0

Thanks Jade, that would make sense, and I did ask the question earlier if was a date thing, I shall try installing it again tomorrow and modifying the format of the date that will probably do the trick.

Re: Sales report 2.0

Is there a way to run this to be able to sort by manufacturer AND show the discounts on the orders? For example, customer bought 1 x, 1 y and 1 z, all from different manufacturers, and used a $5 off coupon... Is there a way to see this on the report?

Re: Sales report 2.0

Ok just re-installed the mod, and I can now make it work as expected. The date format is the issue, because I was selecting the date format from the calendar, ie clicking the day of the month etc, it was inserting the date in the american format, the format is perfectly legitimate in the UK too, but it means different dates 04/08 is the 4th of August in the uk, but 8th of April in the US ... hence the problem.

The bias towards the American date is fine, but perhaps there should be something in place to warn, or suggest non-us dates should be entered manually, else it won't work. It will work if you are doing monthly reports but not if you are producing sales reports between two specific dates.

Thanks.

If you people would just conform!!! :p Actually I vote on the world changing to:

07-Sep-2006 dates.. that would remove all doubt

Re: Sales report 2.0

I simply make the following selections

Stage 1 [Gather and filter data] - Select custom date, 04/08/2006 and end date inclusisve 04/09/2006 - then choose date of order purchase and leave others as 'doesn't matter'

Stage 2 - Leave time frame daily selected, and Choouse time frame totals as teh option (oldest on top)

Steage 3 [Generate report] I leave everything as is and click 'show me the money' button

The result is one item, ie one order ... we had over 60 orders in that period!

Something isn't quite as it should be, unless I made a wrong selection above ?

Could it be a date format problem?
Though your problem was technical, your description leads to another possible issue (and thus this is not directed at you): the overload of options and displays available in this report. Make sure you (i.e. everyone) read the readme file, search options, and output results carefully. In this case, you chose just timeframe totals. That will only display the total, no breakout by line item. The order total count is the second item on that line, under the title "Num Orders." You would need to choose "+ Order Line Items" or "+ Product Line Items" to see all the orders listed in that timeframe.
qhome:

The Custom Calendar thing doesn't work on Opera. Tho that might be opera's problem... I think that problem has existed for years in the core code "Specials" data selector as well.

Would be nice if it assumed today's date as the ending date if you fill in only the starting date.
Yes, an Opera problem. I use the same "spiffycal" code that comes with Zen source.

I hear you on the end date. I'll see what can be done.

Sure, set DISPLAY_MANUFACTURER in the language file to true. Then, in the report, set up your search and choose "+ Order Line Items." That will show all the orders within your given parameters with manufacturer; the discounts are listed under "Discounts" and "Gift Cert. Used."

The date will automatically fill in properly if you use the JavaScript calendar option, but I see what you mean. I may add the usual "mm/dd/yyyy" text near the inputs.

Re: Sales report 2.0

As an alternative, dwno's universal-time-and-date modification (http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Date_Format) could be implemented in the core code instead of the existing time-and-date code. Which would seem to fix the problem on hosts that have their locale correctly configured. [*]

I've been using his mod since it was released and it seems to work quite well, even when I shift the date between the US and Australian date format and back again.

( * = yes, this means a bit of manual work if your shop is in a different country to your hosting provider, but it's a nicer, one-stop solution to all these annoying time-and-date problems we keep having.)

Re: Sales report 2.0

Okay, here's a request... any chance that the actual coupon code could be shown on the report? This way, if the coupon was offered by a particular designer, when calculating sales, I would know to deduct the coupon amount off of that particular designer's products. I could just have the designers all start their coupon codes with their initials so it would be easy to recognize who they belonged to. Doable? In a future release, maybe?

I have no doubt that is the cause. Post the details when you have them.
I'm a little late with my reply, but unfortunately I cannot replicate this as I have gone back to the old version for asthetic and usability reasons - just seems to suit me better and does what I want. Thanks Frank.

eztrumpet:

Thanks for the great work but anyway to merge more information to this report, I need customer's address, maybe in other way I can customize my sales report. Thank you very much.
I didnt address this before, so here you go. I think you're stretching the goal of this report beyond its intent. It's called Sales Report for a reason; it's reporting on the flow of product and income in your store. You should be looking for dollars and cents when you sue this report, not order details.

You could of course edit the report to include the customer address, but I would recommend you step abck and define what exactly you're trying to do.

You're asking for something that's pretty specific to your needs and won't match across a wide variety of stores. Doable, sure, but not for a public release. If you interested in some $ponsored modifications, though, send me a PM. :wink2:

Re: Sales report 2.0

Actually, you'd be amazed at how many stores are doing EXACTLY what I am doing and how much this would be used. However, if this does need to be a sponsored mod, I have no issue with that. As a sponsored mod, though, could it be shared with others who do what I do?

I might be with you on that too.. Don't get me wrong, the new version is fantastic.. but its almost too much info for what I need and the old way of date drop downs instead of the spiffycal was much faster and crossbrowser compatible.

Re: Sales report 2.0

Thanks for a great contrib Frank ...
Actually using the JavaScript menu does not work, I did try this method several times, the only way I can make it work between two dates (UK date format in my admin and store remember) is to MANUALLY enter the dates in the american date format.

BlindSide:

Re: Sales report 2.0

Hey I'd like to save it so I can send it to my manufacturers - so they can each see what sold, but when I download it as a .csv file I get the following when I open it:
<br />
<b>Warning</b>: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in <b>/mnt/w0201/d36/s32/b0271d37/www/store/admin/includes/classes/sales_report.php</b> on line <b>892</b><br />

What Did I do wrong I mean all I did was hit save ...

Yep, I need this too!
