Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

Wasn't chastising or giving lectures, nor anything else you may have thought was behind my post.. Clearly you read a LOT more into my post than what was actually written..

I was simply trying to add some clarifying statements to this line of discussion for those following this thread. 'Tis all..

Some folks like me may have been a tad confused and weren't getting a full grasp of what the issue was or if there really was an issue with either of these mods (ZLB or IH2).. Your initial posts gave the impression that one or more of these modules was not functioning as they are intended to function. As I'm sure you know, the purpose of this support thread is to help folks when there are issues with the ZLB module.

I wanted to make sure it was clear for anyone else following either one of these support threads (ZLB or IH2) or using either one of these mods that the issue you found wasn't truly an issue in the traditional sense. ZLB or IH2 ARE indeed functioning as they should. They just do not provide a particular bit of functionality you were looking for..

I'm tempted to apologize for wasting everyone's time with my "issue", though I thought trying to get help with our "issues" was the purpose of the forum. I search for a minimum of an hour through the forums before I post to try to prevent asking the same questions over and over. I skim the FAQs. I search the web. The Zoom functionality included in IH is covered in the Read Me after the Acknowledgments. That's why I missed it, thought I had read everything I needed to read.

Obviously, you have knowledge and experience superior to my own on these issues. Many, many do - as I've stated previously. 'Thanks so much for the lecture. Really needed that.

I think where the confusion is coming in for many is that bigdiogi wanted the lightbox feature on his ez pages, which you can do with ZLB.

BUT, he wanted this effect on hover, because he thought that was how ZLB worked...

I think he didn't realize that IH2 affects images on hover, whereas ZLB affects images on click....yet both don't necessarily affect the same images....ez pages images being a prime example.

Even with all the wonderful documentation out there, a novice might become easily confused about clicks and hovers and "who does what to whom", so to speak.

And I totally agree that as cool as the on hover is with IH2 (I so love that feataure!), it's greatest value lies with image management (fewer images to upload, no hassling with image file suffixes, faster loading times, less cost re: bandwidth usage, etc)

Both of these mods are awesome, and especially so once one figures out how they are different yet complimentary... because from there, one can easily get to a place where they are using both to their fullest advantage :clap:

Because I am working on compiling a new version of IH2 (with better documentation to cover Fual Lightbox and Zen Lightbox integration) I simply wanted to make sure that if there was an issue with IH2/ZLB integration that they are addressed in the new release. I have been testing the new release with the current version of ZLB, and I am happy to report that they both play together nicely, and there will be instructions included in the readme for those using both IH2 and ZLB together how to make sure the integration steps are clear. I will be coordinating with niestudio so he can include the same info in the ZLB readme as well.

Additionally based on this recent line of conversation I will be updating the section of the IH2 instructions - specifically the section of the IH2 readme which covers how small images settings must be setup in order for the image hover to work correctly - to include very explicit information on the image hover feature so it's clear which images it actually affects.

Yep! At first I thought he was talking about the on click feature of ZLB on EZ Pages. It took a few posts beyond the initial issue for me to figure out exactly what he was wanting to do.

Don't worry bigdiogi, that's to be expected when you're new to ZC, aren't familiar with all the mods and the terminology, etc. Sometime you should hunt up my posts re: the override system when I was new and trying to learn it. LOL I was chasing myself in circles over a concept that now seems so second nature to me.

which add-on did you install first?
the file [includes/modules/your-template/additional_images.php] from the zen-lightbox add-on should be the one you are using. It should overwrite the one from IH2 if you are using that one.

first thing is---if the lightbox works then you need to ask this question at the IH2 thread.

second thing is...are you using the additional images file from lightbox or ih2---since you installe ih2 last I bet you are using that one...replace it with the one you got in the lightbox zip and try again

What you are asking is a subject which JUST been discussed in the last few pages of this support thread.. See if any of the previous discussions on this matter and the posted solutions help you... (Start at post 2501 and work your way up)

Short answer is this, ZLB does not add **on hover **effects to images it is a lightbox module which adds a lightbox effect to images.. Please read the posts I suggested to get a full understanding on ZLB vs IH2..

There is NO ISSUE with IH2 being reported here.. there isn't even an issue with ZLB..

There IS a misunderstanding of which effect comes from which module. This was JUST discussed here this past week (posts are on this page and the one prior).

yayyy! after taking a break and coming back and re-re-reading davewests directions and finally finding the slimbox zip that was posted I finally 'GOT IT' and my lightbox is now working in chrome. :clap: It was driving me nuts without my lightbox.

For anyone else that finally discovers they or their customers have a problem with their stores lightbox in google chrome:

and download the file - MooTools Core 1.3 with compatibility

Go to this post

and find near the bottom and download the slimbox.zip file

unzip the the slimbox.zip file and upload the slimbox.php file to \includes\classes\zen_lightbox, replacing the existing one.

Open the MooTools Core 1.3 file in a text editor. Highlight and copy the code, then paste the code into the two files (removing the code that's in them)

/includes/templates/Your_Template/jscript/
zen_lightbox_mootools_custom.js
zen_lightbox_mootools_default.js

but if you are using the current versions of both store and lightbox, this is not needed anymore...I do believe. I know this method I implemented myself prior to this last revision of both items.

You should Install the other way around as image handler and Lightbox share one file in common.

However just re-upload Lightboxes version of that file and you should be fine

Hi bloomingvine, it looks to me like you missed one file during the install.
Check your server and see if you have: 'includes/templates/[your_template]/templates/tpl_modules_main_product_image.php'

this is the file that makes the main image react to the lightbox code.

Yes I have dug through all 253 pages. So please bear with me.

I'm an osC user and am getting used to the better features of zc.

Here is my questions. I have installed the latest version of IH2 and Lightbox for 1.3.9h. Both installed no problem. IH2 was installed first and then lightbox.

Here is the issue.

What happened to my main image IMAGE.jpg?

I cannot figure it out.

I'm trying to get by without upload a MEDIUM AND SMALL image. I just want to use ONE image size and have the software resize it under the settings I have in the admin section.

first make sure every file got uploaded and in the proper spot for IH2 AND then post in here IF you are having trouble with lightbox too

is lightbox working?

as for IH2 I myself only upload 1 size image for main and additional ones but have the settings correct---what you need to do is post a link to your store--especially the naughty page and post your settings of how you have your images to show.

then all can better assist you.

If IH2 is the only one that is not working properly I suggest you go to the IH2 thread and post there--also to get better help.
