Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

Good day, Everybody,

I just installed Fual Slim Box and over it installed Zen Lightbox . The issue I have is that when I upload more than one image for a product I:

(a) do not have a gallery of images through which I can go in Zen Lightbox popup window (I suppose there must be arrows to the left and right to move left and right through my gallery); and
(b) have the same old default popup windows popping up when I click on those additional images for my product that are located below the main image of my product (I suppose they override the Zen Lightbox code somehow);

This issue only occurs when a product has more than one image since if there only one image for a product Zen Lightbox is triggered.

Thank you for you thoughts on how to fix this.

Well, since nobody seems to want to answer this, I will have to uninstall it.

When no one answers a question is not's about "not wanting to" answer.. It's a VOLUNTEER forum.. people are busy and may not have time to answer.. or perhaps no one knows the answer.. Also it helps if you post a link to your site so people don't have to GUESS what might be happening..

Now that all said...

May I suggest that if this module is not working that you re-check your install. Most issues reported with this module are DIRECTLY linked to an incorrect install.. Also you need to review the readme for this module and Image Handler as there are specific instructions in both readme files for how to install BOTH modules together (and I will not re-post the contents of the readme here.. the instructions are pretty clear on how to install both modules together)

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

And I think I need to post this here too.. Seems folks might need a reminder..

And a (gentle) reminder about FREE forum support:
This is ain’t Microsoft folks!
(a frequently used analogy by some to compare open source projects to commercial projects)

Like other open source projects, this support forum is manned by VOLUNTEERS (ie: unpaid folks). They are not OBLIGATED to assist here, but they do so because they WANT to. They give of their time here when their individual schedules permit. Usually the response is pretty quick 'round these parts, but when it’s not or your question has gone unanswered this may mean one of a few things:

  • NO ONE has an answer to your question/issue.

(Some folks will only respond when they have something MEANINGFUL to say versus a blanket “I don’t know how to do that” kind of answer.)

  • Folks are just busy and will answer if/when they can..

(family and other personal obligations, day jobs, paid jobs, etc will usually trump forum participation – this is to be expected – after all it’s unrealistic to expect that folks are sitting around this forum all day and night waiting to answer questions)

  • Your question got missed. (and while I’m on this point) Your post MIGHT have been missed if your post is now a FEW pages back (like more than TWO or more pages) with no response.. Missed does NOT mean “it’s been an hour and no one responded to my question, so let me 'bump' the thread by re-posting my question again”

Thank you. I re-uploaded the /includes/MY_TAMPLATE/additional_images.php and that cured the the problem with the old default popup windows. Now only light box popup windows appear on a click.

The second issue - the issue with missing navigation arrows - still remains. When a lightbox window pops up there no arrows to move between additional images for a product. However, a hyperlink, where the arrow(s) should appear, is in place and clicking on the right and left sides of the lightbox allows to move between the additional images for the product. Please let me know how to fix the missing arrow in lightbox problem.

Thank you.

Check your settings in your admin panel. Sounds like the function of moving to different pictures is working, but you don't have the option to show arrows (or something similar) set. I forget the actual designation, but what you are experiencing is one of the ways it can be set. Also note that the way(s) to close your lightbox are controlled in there as well. Based on the issues I have on my cell phone with zen lightbox, I like to be able to click outside of the image to have it close (I thought this will also force the arrows you are looking for).

The problem I described is that from my cell, if I try to zoom in the picture moves on the screen to somewhere to the side, and if I move the page around, the image also moves, so I can't "catch" the close button. Also, if I zoom out and try to click on the close button, my phone tries to zoom, so back into the same issue. But, there are key options also to move from picture to picture, which still work.

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

yes Daniel that makes sense. You are right normally those are all listed as seperate products, which is why they most likey won't work right with the lightbox now.

Did you maybe remove something when you removed the code to make the customer by from that page?

I went to the Control > Images and read every line.
I also went to Control > Fual Slimbox and read every line
I also went to Control > Zen Lightbox and read every line

I enabled the function of being able to close Lightbox by clicking anywhere on the screen. This is handy but when I checked out my website, I found out that the old issue of the default windows popping up re-emerged again. I should say the issue has resurrected. I again removed from the server and re-uploaded the file

/includes/modules/MY_TEMPLATE/additional_images.php.

That again cured the problem and now only Lightbox windows popup. I suppose this file has to be re-uploaded every time one changes Lightbox settings in the control panel.

However, and it the most important, I was not able to activate those move to the left and move to the right navigation arrows. I have not even seen a line that might be responsible for those arrows.

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

A question for you ... why do you have both slimbox and lightbox installed...try turning off slimbox.

it might be that there is a shared file that is not sharing or got overwritten by one of the mods

what is slimbox anyway, lightbox is great on its own.

That said you are spot on.. you really don't need both, though in the Zen Lightbox instructions it says you can install Zen Lightbox with Fual Slimbox, it's wholly unnecessary to run (or install) both..

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

Thank you for the reply.

I installed Slimbox first and then installed Lightbox over it. I am not running both. I am running Lightbox. The Slimbox is installed but disabled through the control panel. I can uninstall Slimbox, if necessary.

I do not think the issues with arrows are related to the fact that I have them both installed. First, there are no arrows, there are 'buttons' Next and Previous. (I seem to vaguely remember that the real Lightbox should have arrows). Those buttons, Next and Previous, do appear in the Internet Explore but do not appear in Firefox. I think the answer could be that the current version of Zen Lightbox is not meeting some requirements of Firefox and buttons do not appear in FF. I could be wrong, of course, and if I am, I would like to fix this issue. If anybody with Firefox has buttons fully operational, please let me know.

The buttons are simply images, if you want them to be arrows then you can change out the applicable images of prev and next to be arrows.

I am not currently at a computer, but try this webpage and see if the buttons appear when using firefox: http://shop.pugsugottasave.org/Donation/Donate-to-Holly-and-Growler

Zen lightbox is installed as well as Image Handler 4. It is expected that the buttons will appear when the lightbox is activated. If they don't, then I might say that there is something related to the installed version of this plugin and firefox.

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

I would suggest since you have it turned off to just go ahead and remove sll zlimbox files from your server, remove any sql it might have had you install then reupload all the files for lightbox, this will make sure you have all the files where they should be. I use this on 1.3.9h stores all the time...my own and those I install for others and the buttons appear when additional images are available, in Firefox, IE, Chrome, Safari,

Also make sure you have it set to show the buttons in admin.

But it's NOT related to Firefox.. Otherwise others would be reporting the SAME issue.. The buttons appear for me, and if they don't for you then this is an issue specific to your local computer..

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

Yup I purposely removed the code so they cant get into the individual product pages, there was no need for them in my situation and it only made the buy experience longer. I could have also just listed them all as attributes but I chose this way over that for some important reasons I cant quite remember right now :P

I think for lightbox to work on those pictures I need to include the source on that code I pasted. Thats the only thing I cant figure out.

So, I thought that there was a single file that when copied into the applicable modules/pages/XXXX folder (and seems in your case product listing if that exists) that would activate the lightbox functionality on that page. No code modification necessary. At least that was my understanding from a few pages back and recollection of the readme for this plug-in.

Thank you very much both for the help and suggestions.

OK, I went back to the backup where I only had IH4 installed. I currently have neither Slimbox, nor Lightbox installed. Before I try to install Lightbox again I have to fix another issue I found - in the Internet Explore clicking on an image does trigger the default popup window BUT the window would not open up and would not show the image. This issue is not present in Firefox.

Do I need to go to the backup where I had no IH4 installed and re-install IH4? I really do not want to do that. Installing IH4 again is a task I would like to avoid, if possible.

Thank you.

So, somewhat of a cross post issue; however, if not mistaken this is being discussed/addressed in IH(4 at least) there have been some findings. Supposedly and if I understand correctly, if you install zen lightbox and activate it, the problem may go away? Again, be sure you clear your cache and other cleanup or try another computer that has IE on it. May have some "history" in place preventing the full operation.

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

The IH4 issue being discussed has to do with the additional images popup.. The issue does not appear to be an issue when Zen Lightbox is installed.. (probably because of the modifications Zen Lightbox makes to the additional_images.php)

That said although EHSI is having issues in particular browsers they are likely local issues for him otherwise the issue would be more widely reported and repeatable... of course since he has not posted a lnk to his site without seeing the actual site this is a guessing game.. I won't lob guesses at an issue I cannot see.. especially since none of us responding can repeat the issue..
