Wishlist for 1.3.5 - Yes or No?

I checker their website for pricing, and they don't say how much their fully branded option is (option 5). Their option 4 is a monthly option that can go really, really high. So I don't have too much hope that the option 5 is affordable (and might very well be a $1000 or more)

Might have been better/cheaper idea to approach one of zencart devs
or advertise on commercial forum page, and request privately funded module/s.

Sorry Voltage, they didn't use to be that greedy (I mean expensive) :) when I was using it last year. If I can find a copy of what I did I will upload it to a test server so you can at least see if it will do the job. I am sure it's a matter of time, this functionality will either be available as a contribution or part of the core.

It's funny how I almost left Zen Cart for some key features that were initially lacking and now all but 2 have made it to core.

I agree. The features that are available here are quite incredible. The wish list mod is a very profession contribution which I am very happy with. I only wish it handled attributes.

Joelle:

Yes, which is why I've chosen it. :) But I can't seem to get a gift registry or gift wrap modules, which is a real bummer, as those are popular requests among e-commerce shops.

Perhaps someone would be interested in writing the module for me or modifying existing modules to get them to work?

Please feel free to PM me if this is something someone might be interested in. I'm getting desperate here and I am willing to outsource to get the job done.

Thanks!!

Re: the gift wrap, I saw a mod in the downloads section to allow customers to add shipping insurance to the order, I haven't tried it, but it seems like it could work as a gift wrap mod instead...might be worth a shot ;)

Shipping insurance mod works great.. i use it on my test site (not my live one at the moment).. you can set pricing in the admin panel and everything. If you want to use it as a gift wrap module you can change the text around.. but if the customer orders more than one item you won't know which one to gift wrap :P

Yes, you are totally right! I was making the assumption that people would want their whole order wrapped, but I suppose that wouldn't always be the case. I suppose you could put a note that by default their entire order will be gift wrapped if they choose gift wrapping, but if they don't want their whole order gift wrapped, they can put a note in the comments box? Or...why not just add a few extra fields to the shipping insurance mod, a dropdown that says do you want your entire order giftwrapped? yes or no, and then a text field that says If no, which products do you want wrapped?

Zencart member AFX114 announced a few months back that he had created a gift registry, got everone all excited, but never released it. It was about 6 months back. You might contact him (p.m. me if he is interested in selling the mod, maybe I can go in with you, I'm sure others here would be interested in the same). You can see it on his site, unfortunately I don't remember it. It was 'Branch' something and it sold organic or recycled furniture.

I'm not so much interested in the gift registry as an improved wishlist. The wishlist mod currently is great and has lots of nice features on top of the typical "wishlist" functionality. BUT the big drawback is it doesn't store attributes. The gift registry afx114 created does.

Joelle:

I did that, actually. And I sent him an email to see if they would be interested in helping us out. ;) We'll see what happen! ...

Hi - I'm new with all this, getting information to build my first e-commerce site (I've made informational sites before) and zen cart was recommended to me - but I wanted to see if anyone solved the gift registry question yet.

Joelle, did you ever hear back from AFX114?

Thanks!!
