It seems to me you'de get tons of contributions if this was a bug free, working program............right? If it worked, I would donate!

I Agree, I would donate!

This would be wonderful mod. Is there any progress with the 0.9 version?

Re: Newsletter Center V. 0.8 BETA

I have start working on getting this work, because I need for a site I'm working on.

I will post my files as soon there is something to post  Right now I'm having trouble with PHPlists attributes the Subscribe page in Newletter Center. Otherwise it's going in the right way.

I'll get back!

Re: Newsletter Center V. 0.8 BETA

Ok, I'm done with the first step in making this great mod work. At least the way I want it

This is the version 0.8.2 BETA.
Try it out and read the new read me file. You need to download the 0.8 version as well, I've only uploaded the files I've changed.

There is some more work to be done, but I think it's on its way.

Re: Newsletter Center V. 0.8 BETA

I'm attaching v. 0.8.3 BETA

Please use it and help me locate the bugs.

You have to download the original Newsletter Center mod and replace the file included in this version. Don't forget to read the Read me file and backup your database and files.

Please test it and get back to me how it works. Cheers!

It's a beta and has not been fully tested so don't use it on a live site.

The best is to never use any mod on a live site, some mods are incompatible with each other, set up a test shop and don't forget to backup your database and backup the files you edit or replace.

Please let me know how it works if you use it.
Good luck!

Silly me, I mean of course that you should never use an Untested mod on a live site.
Rather test first, then update your live site. But do a backup of both files and database first.

Re: Newsletter Center V. 0.8 BETA

I guess no one has really been able to get this integrated successfully. I have tried both the original mod from masterblaster and then from beez. Neither one had the instructions to implement any sort of a sql file in any of the instructrions (which I found buried in the original package) and implemented then it blew away any of the manual configurations I had already done. So now back to sort of square one.

I was getting an unable to connect to DB when trying to submit from the newsletter sidebox, then after making my changes I am now getting an

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/deepswan/swansoninc-www/includes/templates/template_default/common/html_header.php:22) in /home/deepswan/swansoninc-www/includes/functions/functions_general.php on line 44 template_default/common/html_header.php:22 error.

So I guess my questions still stands. Does anyone have this working properly, and if so where did you get the mod installation files from? So far between these two (and 6 hours later) I have nothing but errors!!! However phplists is working fine.

And a future fyi for developers. If you are going to give instructions, please utilize both a windows path and a *nix path. The original mod included only a windows path and I still haven't been able to successfully figure out what masterblaster was trying to say for a path.

If anyone can help, tia, if not so much for the wasted (and disappointed 6 hours so far)

peace...

Re: Newsletter Center V. 0.8 BETA

The main reason I was trying to use this mod is the tie into the phplist mailing program. The biggest problem is that we had started using a mailing list program (dada mail) years ago and have not found anything suitable that will integrate with zen cart and handle thousands of email addresses, automatic bounce back handling, import / export features, etc. The other mod was as close to what we thought we needed. I will also checkout the mod you are talking about.

Thanks...

Re: Newsletter Center V. 0.8 BETA

:smile:I am trying to get the mod to work. I can report what I get, on the customers page, I edit a customer. The page has this code error in the Newsletter box:-

1142 SELECT command denied to user 'thegemtr_zc2'@'localhost' for table 'phplist_user_user'
in:
[select id, email, foreignkey from linda500_phplist.phplist_user_user where email = '[email protected]']
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

There is some reference to CAMBRIDGE table, so I guess also that there should be a sql somewhere. I couldn't find it in the first release by Master Blaster.

Hope this helps!!

Heathenmagic

Re: Newsletter Center V. 0.8 BETA

HeathenMagic;

If I am not mistaken you can find the sql file in the 8_3 or 8_4 release done by Beez. Again, there was not the best documentation, but if you look for the file you will find it. I believe it is on page 4 or 5 of this thread. If you by chance get it working, please post your doings for the rest of us :o)

Good luck, and may the force be with you!!!

Re: Newsletter Center V. 0.8 BETA

Hi there all!

Now it's time for a new Beta version.
This time I've done some general cleaning up. No more references to "Cambridge" I've also put all the files in one archive, no more need to get the original files.

I've made small changes here and there, so to be sure you have the latest one make a full check. I've also rewritten the read me, hopefully to the better...

Cheers!

FYI: I've got a working mod a clients site. Hasn't been up for that so long so some minor bugs might still be there...

Hi HeathenMagic, as for the error code it looks like you missed some changes i the config files. As for Cambridge - I've removed all references to that attribute in PHPlist. I guess I were to focused on getting out a new beta

As far as I know there is no sql changes made for this mod. Or have I completely lot my head?

Re: Newsletter Center V. 0.8 BETA

0be1: Your Warning for header information has been fixed in 0.8.5.

As for sql files. I don't think there are any database changes. But I could be wrong...

And please be aware that this a beta and has yet to be tested.
I'm spending time here trying to make it work and sharing with the wonderful Zen Cart community, just so you know.

Re: Newsletter Center V. 0.8 BETA

Website Rob:

Does this Mod -- from masterblaster and/or beez -- do something different/better than the Newsletter Subscribe Mod from the Downloads section?

In short: As far as I know the Newsletter Subscribe adds the possibility to subscribe to the newsletter without have to sign up an account. The Newsletter Center is a bridge between Zen Cart and PHPlist mirroring accounts in Zen Cart to PHPlist. You use PHPlist instead of Zen Cart to send newsletters.

Hope that helps you a bit.
