Stock by Attribute v4.0 addon for v1.3.5-1.3.9

The products_with_stock_attributes table is connected to the rest of Zen Cart via the products_attribute table.

The comma-delimited list in the stock_attributes column of the products_with_stock_attributes table is a list of products_attributes_ids from the the products_attributes_table.

Does it show out of stock on the product page level? Example, 1 item, with 4 attributes being seperate colors, 1 of the colors is out of stock. Does the mod prevent the out of stock color from being added to the shopping cart?That depends on the version. I did bite the bullet & 'attempt a merge' in the end; initial testing seems ok; but who knows if I did the merge correctly ...so - if you would still have a moment to have a quick look at the attachment?

Yes - I believe my template is some sort of derivative of TM (but not from them) - so (as a side issue) I probably have not much hope of upgrading do I? (especially as I've been having much fun adding lots of mods)

This mod is tightly integrated with each Zen Cart version, and will need to be upgraded to work properly with Zen Cart 1.3.9a.

Don't
a) install this on a 1.3.9a base until there is an upgraded version available, or
b) upgrade to 1.3.9a if you are dependent on this mod.

That looks fine to me. The key block was the one between lines 109-115 in your file and that's identical to the mod and appropriately located in your file.

The other differences are cosmetic and specific to that template, so you shouldn't have any stock-by-attribute problems from this merge.

At which point in the checkout process will the customer be notified the item is out of stock? Also, will it prevent the item from being purchased if it's out of stock, or still allow it and provide a warning.

The one I was maintaining notifies customers in the shopping cart, other later ones tries to move this to the product page (a more appropriate place) but appear to have found it more complicated than they expected.

Whether or not a customer can checkout if the selected combination is out of stock depends on whether you set the Zen Cart switches to allow it or not. For some sites back ordering is appropriate, for others not, so Zen Cart supports both.

I installed the Stock by Attributes and I didn't work so I removed it. I must have installed it wrong, but the client's shop disappeared! :blink: So I put my back up files back onto the server, but now half of the page is missing! :frusty:

This will be a syntax error or missing file causing PHP to crash. This FAQ entry may help to track down the source of the problem.

I reinstalled it, but now come across this problem:

1146 Table 'deb1011805361828.products_attributes' doesn't exist
in:

If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

I went into Tools > Install SQL Patches
Selected...stock_attribute.sql
Upload!

It was successful, but then the problem above showed up. >_<

That's a core Zen Cart not altered by this mod, which only reads from it to find out about the attributes. Is it possible that you deleted it when trying to uninstall this mod earlier?

Great add-on! This module works great with my cosmetic contact lens website with one attribute. I used it to keep track of the quantity of the different prescription contact lens.

Is there any way to get this module to support combination of attributes in instead of variations.

For instance, I am using this module for a cosmetic contact lens site. Right now the module works well with one drop down box of different prescription degrees for contact lens on the product page. But I want to make the product page to be able to support two drop down boxes. Where one drop down box for left eye degrees and another drop down box for right eye degrees.

Is it is possible to set the stock by attributes to combination instead of variation? Such that when one of the prescription lens is sold out, then the variations of other combination will be sold out too.

The discussion has been had several times above using different vocabulary, so I won't repeat it here.

You may wish to take a look at this mod, which is based on the paradigm that I think you're describing. It's a bit long in the tooth though and would need some very careful testing - it will probably need some updating to current versions of Zen Cart.

Any idea when an updated version will be available or what needs doing for this do be updated.

Any idea when an updated version will be available or what needs doing for this do be updated.The creation/update of add-ons is a volunteer effort. If you look at the history of this particular add-on, there have been several authors since Kuroi's last version of this add-on was released..

So in a nutshell, can't give a time when this will be updated.. If someone volunteers to do this, then a new version will be available.. Since it's hard to say WHO will volunteer to do this, can't really predict when..
