No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

Hi.

Well got 1.3.5 loaded at last.
Its great. But I am not getting any logo pic in sent emails.

header.jpg is in the /email folder, and my client 'Outlook Express' is receiving pics from other mails.

Anyone got any ideas why the logo doesnt appear?

My email settings are below if thats any help.
All other aspects of email are fine so far I think.

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

Additionally I noticed DrByte requested pasting the URL to the pic into the browser to see what is displayed.

'If you put that URL and the path to the image in your browser, what do you see?'

Well, this is what I see:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /email/header.jpg on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/1.3.36 Server at https://www.woodgatebookcabin.com Port 80

Any ideas?

Then that, obviously, could be your problem.

What permissions do you have set on the email folder, and on the header.jpg file?

Hi Pixxi.

Permissions on email folder are set at read, write, execute, 777,
and read, write, 666 on header.jpg.

Is this wrong?

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

That should be fine - in fact 755 and 644 will work.

Do you have anything in an htaccess file in that folder that might be restricting access to .jpg files?

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

No, not as standard. You have a strange problem there ...

You might want to try putting a another image (any image) in there and try accessing it via your browser (https://www.yourdomain.com/email/imagename.jpg)

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

No.

Tried another pic.

Get same error.

Should I try copying and pasting a htaccess file into my email folder?

Thanks Chris

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

No, you don't need an htaccess file in the email folder, but if you'd copied one in there it might have had a 'deny all' for image files (depending on where you'd copied it from) - just checking to try to eliminate possible causes.

The header image file is actually named 'header.jpg'?

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

Yes file is header.jpg

I have never copied a file there. In fact I just checked all my back up files and original zen files and there has never been an htaccess file in the email folder.

Im very puzzled

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

It's possible to access the email templates in your email folder, but not the header.jpg or the gv.gif images files.

Can you access any (product) image files in /images via your browser?

Do you have an htaccess file in top level of your site (public_html/)?

If you do, what's in it?

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

I cannot access any images in my browser from the /images directory. Get same error.

I have an htaccess file in my public_html folder which contains as listed below:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://woodgatebookcabin.co.uk/.$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://woodgatebookcabin.co.uk$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://woodgatebookcabin.com/.
$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://woodgatebookcabin.com$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.woodgatebookcabin.co.uk/.$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.woodgatebookcabin.co.uk$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.woodgatebookcabin.com/.
$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.woodgatebookcabin.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule .*.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp)$ - [F,NC]
AddType text/html .shtml html htm

Im afraid all that means nothing to me.

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

Rename that htaccess file to something else temporarily (eg. .htaccess_bak) and try accessing your header.jpg again via your browser. Then sort out the security restrictions by talking to your host.

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

That section of code is preventing other sites from hot-linking to your images, but there's obviously a problem with it from the zen email perspective.

If you want to rename it back to .htaccess, you could put a # in front of each line to comment it all out for now (or just leave the file renamed as it is now).

But don't forget to rename your .htaccess back to it's proper name if you want to put anything else in there in future, otherwise the commands in it won't be parsed.

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

Thanks again Pixxi.

I would NEVER have sorted that out.

Maybe in the distant future I can help you in some way!

Kind Regards Chris

RewriteRule .*.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp)$ - [F,NC]
That line is the offending item. That is a method typically used to prevent other folks from linking to images on your site ... which is exactly what your HTML emails will do in order to display the images in your messages.

Re: No email logo although header.jpg in folder.

I've got exactly the same problem as well.

Could this be a size/pixel setting of the new header.jpg that is causing the problem?
