Orders Not Appearing

Ok... I feel stupid... I read thru the BASIC PayPal information and realized that I had tax information turned on in my PayPal profile. This caused the order amounts to not agree and therfore the orders were not released. I saw a warning in the PayPal debug log that mentioned this but warnings are usually not fatal... So I neglected this key clue.

I guess I forgot to check the obvious first and was looking for a more complicated problem.

Thanks for reading and good luck to anyone still having this problem.

Re: Orders Not Appearing

hi,
i already put this question somewhere else, but i found there is already a hot discussion round this thema.
question: on selection of money order by a client, his order will be putted in admin as a pending order., if client choose paypal payment and for every reason, do not go further to payment, I do not see his oredr in my admin even in pending process, by this I can not follow this client and try to resolve his problem by finding another possibility as I have for some clients. does know somebody any idea?

2-I found this "paypal session viewer" provided by Dr byte, does it work on zen 1.3.6? and if yes, is it the key of my problem?

Before adding any modifications, you need to make sure that your PayPal account and the PayPal module are both configured correctly. See your /docs/ directory for complete instructions.

Yes, it does ... but it is only a TOOL to help you deal with lost items UNTIL you FIX your PayPal configuration problems.

As Kim said, you need to configure and test your PayPal settings according to the documentation. There are instructions in the /docs folder of the Zen Cart ZIP file you installed from, as well as some troubleshooting and testing ideas here:

HELLO Dr Byte
yes, you have right, in between, I installed Paypal Sessions Viewer for Zen Cart v1.2.x, and immediately on top of admin page I got the warning of: CURL functions not found - required for Linkpoint API payment module. anyway, I continued to install IPN on my paypal account on the site of paypal, so I ( as a client) can be redirected to the paypal site, and there , there is a link for customer to return to the merchant site if he does not tend to continue with paypal, but when customer return to the site, then he has to choose money order (if he wants offline payment) to be registered in the list of orders in my admin.
as a result; I do not think this session viewer works with zen 1.3.6, and if yes, it does not make very practical usage for administrator of shop, i think the explanation in the readme file of this contribution was completely correct and accurate.
thanks if there is solution, the above link and all documents will not give the answer to my question in above. they are for configuration , I do not have any problem with config., all them works perfectly, just, I loos the clients order, if he he leave my site and do not decide to pay by paypal, and I can not find him more in orders in admin, question is very simple!!!!

Re: Orders Not Appearing

If your customer starts to pay via PayPal and they change their mind and come back to your shop, Zen Cart will offer the same payment method choices as it originally offered.

So, if the customer had choices of PayPal and Money Order initially, then they will have the same options again upon returning.

If the customer does not want to use one of the offered payment methods, then they will probably abandon their cart and leave.

Do you offer both PayPal and Money Order for everybody?

or

Are you trying to force them to use PayPal but if they later decide they don't like that, you are trying to then offer additional options? In my opinion this is usually not wise, and this is not how Zen Cart works.

You are better to offer all options equally.

hello Dr Byte
Your arguments sounds to be logic. and I appreciate you. you have right, I can present all two methods with an explanation text that the customer knows if he does not mean to continue his payment by paypal, there is a chance for him to come back to store and change his mind, very thanks for this point.

Re: Orders Not Appearing

Hi All,

I'm seeing a similar problem - but possibly with an interesting twist, and I'm really stuck.

I have two fresh installs of 1.3.6, no contributions installed in either of them and both using the standard green template.

On one, Paypal worked immediately, on the other it doesn't even seem to return debug messages until I manually navigate to the ipn_main_handler page with a browser altough PayPal payments occur at the PayPal account end. Debug message #1 then returned is No POST data available.

I've also tried the broken one with 1.3.5 and with 1.3.5 with the 1.3.6 Paypal module files, all to no avail.

Both are using the same paypal account (I've alternated copy and pasting the IPN and auto return addresses into the account to test it).

No errors appear when I got to ipn_main_handler (the expected blank page appears)

Both are with the same hosting company, although when I look at the server details I see that they are not on the same physical server. Interestingly there only appear (to my untrained eyes) to be 2 differences between the servers:

  1. Working one has Zend optimiser

  2. Under the MySQL support section the working one has Active Persistent Links set to 1, other is 0; Active Links set to 2, the other has it set to 1

  • any help would be very much appreciated! This has been driving me nuts for a couple of weeks now :-)
    Thanks

Re: Orders Not Appearing

What has your hosting company said about it?
Chances are one server has blocked something either unexpectedly or quite intentionally and maybe you'll need to have your account moved if they won't consider unblocking something.

You could point them to this document which explains some of the technical needs:

Re: Orders Not Appearing

Thanks Dr Byte, I've got an open support ticket with them on this issue and I'll post the results up, did either of those two settings stand out to you as likely candidates?

Sorry, no, they don't strike me as relevant to the problem.

Re: Orders Not Appearing

Thanks to everyone who posted their replies - I realized the issue. My customers also have a 'pay pal' cart, where they add shipping and handling on that side of things. this is a universal setting in paypal, and is applied to any item purchased through that paypal account - even though these are completely different products and completly different carts - and the handling on them is not the same. That value gets tacked on regardless.

the discrepency between the values causes the orders not to be pushed through. that's been the problem the entire time - although it did not seem that way at first - because at first only 30-40 percent of the orders were getting stuck and then once I upgraded 100 percent of them began to get stuck.

Thanks to everyone who was persistant and posted reply's to the question!

Re: Orders Not Appearing

Hi Dr Byte,
the host was able to resolve the issue - according to them the only differences b/w my two accounts was that they had just started running apache mod_security on the server with the failing account.

If I do get any more details on what changes they made exactly I'll post them up here.
