TruBlu - Blue Template w/ Sidebox Header Images

I love this template but I can't get the sidebars to come on. I used the verision here 1[1]. I uploaded the trublu file to templates....is that right?

As with all new templates, you need to reconfigure the sidebox setup on a per-template basis. After changing to TruBlu, goto TOOLS->LAYOUT BOXES CONTROLLER and re-enable all the boxes you want.

I'm learning to use zencart, but still have trouble with the ccs files.

Tru-Blu is great, but I would like to change the double spacing in the catagories box to single space. Can you tell me how I go about changing the spacing?

Edit the stylesheet_betterCategories.css file and change:

 DIV.betterCategories A, DIV.betterCategories A:visited {
  display: block;
  background-color: #ffffff;
  border-top: 2px solid #ffffff;
  padding: 4px;
}

to

 DIV.betterCategories A, DIV.betterCategories A:visited {
  display: block;
  background-color: #ffffff;
  border-top: 2px solid #ffffff;
  padding: 2px;
}

I don't understand what "better categories" are. Is that the rollover effects I get on the categories sidebox?
I love the product listing with colored background for every second product. How can I get this look?
Lastly, your site above seems to have nice arrow images next to each top level category but that didn't appear when I installed it. How do I get these?

Yes Better Categories is another contrib from an older version of Zen-cart that i've modified slightly and included to work with the current version. Product Listing stuff is the same default zen-cart stuff, I didnt change that. I think its shown as:

productListing-even
productListing-odd

Simply add those params to the CSS with the background color of your choice and that should work.

The Arrows I think are on menu links that have sub categories only. It came with BetterCategories I think.

I was wondering how to edit the blue menu bar that goes across the page at the top? I would like to keep its function but remove "shopping cart", "My account" and "Log in". Although I may have a use for "Log in" later and may wish to reenable it at a latter date.

The actual words are in the languages file. The code that calls those words is in the templates/trublu/common/tpl_header.php

I'm not sure I understand. If you are just going to make it an HTML site with no php.. simply let the page render in a browser, go VIEW SOURCE and copy the code into your index page. This way everything is text based and you don't have to do anything but change the values to what you want. There is really nothing to it.

But are you planning on using PHP on the site you are making? Are you making a shopping cart? or are you just making a website in html with the trublu theme?

I want to leave it as is, that is leave the php. I am running it just as a web site and not a shopping cart, hense to remove the words. I will hunt around the language files....

The words are in capital letters in zencart. the capital letters (constants) link to their real displayed value in the languages file.

The constants are in the tpl_header.php file. Look for this chunk:

To remove the use of the language file and keep the word 'HOME', Simply change that code to:

the path was meant for you to fill your own path there. Thats just basic HTML. the text there was an example for you. You'd likely put <a href="index.html"> or <a href="http://www.mysite.com">

I tried to add <a href="http://www.mysite.com"> but the url on the link was then http://www.mysite.com/www.mysite.com ! So I figured there was some php code effecting it somewhere?

As like you said <a href=""> should end up nowhere? :wink:

Direct link to what I'm looking on help for:

If you look at the page there's the drop down menu for Fabric Length Size.
I was hoping to do 2 things with that:
1- Remove the 'Please Choose' copy the menu
2- Move the menu up higher on the page so it is bottom aligned with the 'Add to Cart' box.

I've been able to figure out most things so far on my own, but these are troubling me. Any and all help is well appreciated and thank you in advance.
