Online Buttons Generator

chadderuski:

Actually, when you look in:

includes/languages/english/button_names.php

ALL the other button name are consistent except this one. Easy to fix. You can also make your own custom buttons!

Thanks for the tip for making your own buttons using the button_names.php! I am still grasping all of this, and never would have thought of that.

Re: Online Buttons Generator

Sir John,

Could sure use your help!

I am on making the 3 state buttons as I mentioned earlier. However, I am getting stuck on the CSS markup to get this to work... I tried to modify both the standard zencart css buttons markup and Paul's CSS Buttons mod, but neither do it right.

This is what I am trying to achieve using the sliding door method:

http://chicagophoto.net/btest/

Normally, the markup is SO simple, but Zencart is making a pain in the *&^%!

Hope you have a chance to take a look! I know I must not be naming/targeting something correctly.

Hi Chaddro,

I doubt I'm the right person to ask here, as the question is more related to the CSS button module than to Zen Button Construction Kit. I haven't installed any of the modules anywhere, so I don't know what they do exactly to achieve their results. From looking at your example I assume you will have to do the following:

1.) create a copy of the 4 CSS definitions for EACH of the Zen-Cart buttons; I think this will be necessary because of the background:url definition that points to a certain image file.

2.) patch the 'zen_image_button' function in 'includes/functions/html_output.php' to return your HTML snippet with the CSS class reference ( '<div class="button_prev"><a href="#"></a></div>' ) instead of the regular image output via the 'zen_image function'. This would require PHP programming skills, it would take the $image parameter and transform it into the necessary string to reference the CSS class ( 'button_prev.gif' -> 'class="button_prev"' ). Attention: This would make changes to a core shop file, which is not recommended. Alternatively you could copy this function to one with a custom name (placed in in the folder 'extra_functions') and call it in the templates instead of 'zen_image_button'. But the easiest solution would be to just paste your HTML code pointing to the right CSS style for the respective button directly into your custom template files. All calls to 'zen_image_button' in all of the templates would have to be replaced then.

I hope this helps a bit. If I should try to give further assistance I might need full access to your server files, as I'm not very eager to set up a test environment for this specific problem right now.

Best regards,

Sir John Steed

Re: Online Buttons Generator

Sir John,

Thanks for taking a look. I would not think this THAT hard, but the lack of a simple solution makes me wonder just what is going on under the hood of zencart.

You made two valid points, to Redress:

 1. If you use CSS Buttons from within the Admin, simple CSS styling should need only apply. This is my target solution. The bottom line of this idea is to simply change the offset of the background for hover and active states. At most you would need to define the background image for each button, but if the buttons are well designed, you could surely use the same class for hover and active.

 2. I looked at this code closely thinking I might be able to mod it to use the image buttons by changing those to backgrounds so that idea (1) would apply... not so simple. Like you said, messing with the core, and I don't want to do that. At MOST I am thinking since the call to zen_image_button will send the $image to zenCssButton() and not have it set to empty as it is now:

function zenCssButton($image = '', ....

and then making a minor adjustment to THAT function to use the proper image without need to specify the background in CSS.

The CSS Button mod by Paulm may work... looks like it should work, however I have not been successful with it either (hours and hours of fiddling), and Paul hasn't been around for some weeks.

I posted here because I'm hoping if I can get a working solution, mayhap I'll convince you to add support for making 3-state buttons with your button generator. ;p (oh, and I'm desperate for help!)

I'll PM you. And thank you again for taking a poke at this. Where's a CSS god when you need one?

Re: Online Buttons Generator

I got some problems with the generator.
First of all it refuses to render in buttons UTF-8 check the attachments, i tried in IE (as u suggested... but result was very much the same)
Second, i want to add another language which is unofficial since i have buttons from Turkish but i don't speak Turkish, so i cant guarantee they are really proper translated.

and here are some suggestions, since i am not a very good coder (well i am not a coder at all), i don't know how hard/easy is to implement them, but that shouldn't stop me from giving em :)
put option for user to add list for themselves... so people don't have to go to translator's page, let them just contribute by stopping by.
allow them to include caption<->button_name links (if u want), if in the future another cart software popup, u don't need to make any significant improvements ;)

Re: Online Buttons Generator

I would love to use the Zen Button Construction Kit. I've downloaded it to use offline with WAMP. But when I go to http://localhost/zen_bck/ I get these errors at the top of the page...

Warning: imageftbbox() [function.imageftbbox]: Invalid font filename in C:\wamp\www\zen_bck\includes\class.zen_bck.php on line 52

Warning: imagefttext() [function.imagefttext]: Invalid font filename in C:\wamp\www\zen_bck\includes\class.zen_bck.php on line 195

Warning: imageftbbox() [function.imageftbbox]: Invalid font filename in C:\wamp\www\zen_bck\includes\class.zen_bck.php on line 52

Warning: imagefttext() [function.imagefttext]: Invalid font filename in C:\wamp\www\zen_bck\includes\class.zen_bck.php on line 195

Here's line 52 of class.zen_bck.php...

$tbb_10 = imageFTBBox ($this->font_sz*10, 0, $this->font, $btnText, array());

and here's line 195...

$tbb = imageFTText ($im, $this->font_sz*10, 0, ($x), ($y), $this->fontColor, $this->font, $btnText, array());

Also in the "Languages to output" area at the bottom of the page are these two errors...

Warning: ksort() expects parameter 1 to be array, null given in C:\wamp\www\zen_bck\index.php on line 322

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in C:\wamp\www\zen_bck\index.php on line 323

Here's what line 322 and 323 of index.php look like...

ksort($languages);
foreach($languages as $language => $val) {

Anyone see what's wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Online Buttons Generator

Rebekah,

if you still can see the form below you can select a font from the drop down menu (you have to install some TrueType fonts first) and then submit the form again (button at the very bottom). There is a small issue right now that zen_bck doesn't know which font to use from the start, as the fonts will be provided by you. You can fix this permanently by entering a font file name (from the TrueType fonts you installed into the folder zen_bck/includes/fonts/) into the file zen_bck/presets/_default_preset.php, line which says '$btn_font = ...'. If there is another update of zen_bck I should put in a random font selector in case nothing was specified.

The second warning should not show up at all, no clue what's going wrong here. There should be languages defined as an array as long as the file zen_bck/includes/zen_bck_config.php is present in its default state and it gets properly imported into the index.php.

In general: you might be able to get rid of the warnings (they are non-fatal and strictly speaking not errors at all) by removing the line 3 of index.php which says 'error_reporting(E_ALL);'. I guess I had put this in for debugging purposes.

Best regards,

Sir John

Re: Online Buttons Generator

Sir John,
Is there upcoming version of full UTF-8 support?
i downloaded zen_bck, installed it.. and tried to add my language, well it ended in a mess, or better MESS.
then i just removed some of languages and added UTF-8 simbols insted of letter in my alphabet, so now it works, but if i have to change something... i prefer not to have to do it ;)

another question, how may i add additional languages... i tried to add another line in language definitions in conf file, plus whole set of array definitions, but it simply ignored it, so i had to remove some languages.

And for the end.. if anyone need Bulgarian buttons, feel free to contact me via lazy666 (at) gmail.com
i will give u link to button generator. not writing it here, since i might move it.

lazy_666:

Sir John,

No, I'm not planning to put much more effort into zen_bck right now. Especially not changing the current basis of encoding. That would mean a) rewriting the existing language defintions and b) change the PHP code, which might be tricky, as there are some special demanding operations like case conversions to be done. In the past I found the current HTML encodings for the UTF-8 characters to work best in that regard. So UTF-8 is supported in some way, although it's not very elegant. I think it's ok for the limited button sets.

But in the end this is open source, so if anyone feels like enhancing the module, go ahead. It might be a good idea to connect this to a database so one could enter the UTF8 symbols directly into it.

another question, how may i add additional languages... i tried to add another line in language definitions in conf file, plus whole set of array definitions, but it simply ignored it, so i had to remove some languages.

Should work as you have described. Make sure you add one line

$languages['bulgarian'] = 'yes';

and the whole language definitions array for Bulgarian, but make sure you rename the main index here as well:

$btnText['bulgarian']['button_buy_now'] = '...';

Would be nice if you could send me your Bulgarian language definitions, so I could embed it for a potential next release (don't know when this will come), but at least I could embed it into the online version of zen_bck.

Best regards,

Sir John

Re: Online Buttons Generator

drop me a line on above mentioned e-mail, so i can mail them to you.
well i will mail you my version of conf file, u can extract Bulgarian and Turkish definitions (for bulgarian i am 90% sure it is correct, for turkish... like 50).

add that link too, i think it could be great for someone who needs to translate definitions on non-utf-8 languages.

Re: Online Buttons Generator

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I specified a font where you said to. It looked like it might work and then when I went to "Preview" I got the "Warning: imagefttext" errors again. Actually, also further down the page, in the fields where you're supposed to choose a font size, color, etc. There was raw code showing in the box.

Rather than trying further I decided to just use your fabulous online version. Thanks for that. If you need to know more about the errors, just ask. I'll try to help if I can.

Thanks again,
Rebekah

There is a small chance I visited here and then went somewhere else but if so its not recorded in my google web history.

Hideous,

this definitely looks like Zen Button Construction Kit, but you must have edited it, it's not what the original template looks like (yours is missing the arrow on the right side). Maybe you obtained the link to the online service tool from post #72, where it says online version. I had to remove the link from my signature a while ago, as the signature rules for this forum have changed. But I guess you got it from the posting, as the signature edit was some time ago. Maybe it even was a custom setup of the generator downloaded from the contributions section, with a modified template.

Attached is an image that has been recently created on my server. At least it looks similar to yours.

Best regards,

Sir John

The Contribution page says there should be Swedish in the package of "Zen Button Construction Kit" but it is not there when I try to download.
I have the button construction Kit otherwise working like a charm but the Swedish buttons are missing.

It should be there, it has been part of zen_bck for the last few version now. Make sure:

 • you downloaded the latest version of Zen Buton Construction Kit
 • you selected the checkbox for Swedish at the end of the form (languages to output)

If that does not work, please describe what you mean by saying "are missing" – not in the options, or not apeearing on the results page or what else. Or alternatively try the online version (link in the posts above).

Yes, in the newest package when opening it and it's folder "buttons" I do not see any folder called "swedish" that I could put into my server. There's for example Norwegian and Finnish and plenty of others but no Swedish.

Yes, correct, this is a flaw. Then please create the folder (all lower case) in the buttons folder and set write permissions for it on your server. The rest should be ok, the language defintions are in the configuration file of that zen_bck download.

Re: Online Buttons Generator

Another thing... could add a button in the preview button page with next simbols

"&#1050 ;&#1080 ;&#1088 ;&#1080 ;&#1083 ;&#1080 ;&#1094 ;&#1072 ;"
(i am sorry about spaces... the forum interpret it as symbols)

it means Cyrrilic on Bulgarian, so people can see wich font is suitable for them and wich is not, so they dont have to generate buttons and see blank buttons with no values on them, go back change font. repeat till find suitable font... (it was kinda annoyng) :smartass:
