Why do my sites look like that?

When attempting to access this:
http://www.katstamps.com/qkd/images/banners/bw_zen_88wide.gif
your "qkd" install gives this error:
403 Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /qkd/images/banners/bw_zen_88wide.gif on this server.

Do you happen to have a .htaccess file in your public_html folder as well ?
(not just in your Store or qkd folders)

Does your hosting company tech support site have any documentation about allowed and prohibited .htaccess settings with respect to your account or their server configurations?

Re: Why do my sites look like that?

Why does going to just your main domain URL give a 404-file-not-found error?

Re: Why do my sites look like that?

DR.. could that have to do with my "Hot Link Protection"? I was looking around in my cpanel today and stumbled upon that.. I don't know what it is but it seems to have to do with images...

Re: Why do my sites look like that?

QueenKat:

ok... but I found more than one file that's named that. Is there a directory that I should be looking in for a specific file?

try these locations: (rename these files if they exist)
/.htaccess
/Store/.htaccess
/Store/includes/.htaccess
/shop/.htaccess
/shop/includes/.htaccess
/qkd/.htaccess
/qkd/includes/.htaccess

http://www.katstamps.com/

because I had someone helping me today and I think he messed up my shop on there. I run OSC on www.katstamps.com and it's all messed up. I am trying to switch from OSC to Zen and I want my OSC shop transfered over to my /shop address. but things are so messed up right now I don't know what to do!

Now, if you go to www.queenkatdesigns.com you will see what should be my www.katstamps.com home page. I have the queenkatdesigns.com domain parked on top of katstamps.com

confooosed yet?

Many of your images on queenkatdesigns.com are not loading properly either.

Re: Why do my sites look like that?

yeah.. that's because of a back up that was restored from a while ago. an those images have been deleted because the product is now gone.

I'm at such a loss. I have renamed the htaccess files and here's my findings:

/qkd: it didn't do anything
/store: it didn't do anything
/shop: it didn't do anything...

what next? It's only 2:30AM I'm good for another hour....

Re: Why do my sites look like that?

I'm guessing you have a file-permissions problem or --- and this is more likely --- you have a hosting-configuration problem and will need to talk to your hosting company's tech support people.

Re: Why do my sites look like that?

alright..

one more thing... in my public_html file.. there are 3, yes 3, .htaccess files! They are named:

.htaccess (which I tried to change the name of and it created a NEW file!)
.htaccess_OFF
.htaccess-old (I have no idea where this one came from!

could this be the problem?

Re: Why do my sites look like that?

What's in the file it auto-created ? Is it blank?

Re: Why do my sites look like that?

Hmmm ... it seems your product images are now loading properly (although slow) ...
http://katstamps.com/Store/images/fruitplateLG.jpg

But having the HEADER_SALES_TEXT constant showing and having it skip stylesheets still suggests that the patch I mentioned earlier is not applied properly.

Does your admin menu load properly?

Re: Why do my sites look like that?

ok... Here's the latest..

My hosting company was able to fix the template in /shop and I can go all the way through check out and it's all fine and dandy.

The only problem is When I log into my admin section, I can't see the Define Pages Editor (all the pages are gone! and there's nothing in the drop down box) so far this is the only thing I can find that is not fixed on /shop

they didn't touch the /Store link and it is still not working at all.

and to answer the Q on the file it auto created, yes it's empty.

You mentioned turning on hotlink protection? Have you tried turning that off?

You might try doing a comparison between the /shop and the /Store folders, similar to the process outlined here:
