Re: Define Pages / EZ Pages

dwight:

Hi Kim,

I agree that is the case with some of the files but what about files like these....

/includes/modules/sideboxes/more_information.php
/includes/languages/english.php
/includes/filenames.php

Will they get updated/overwritten? I have yet to do an upgrade so I'm not too sure if they get updated or not.

Thanks.

If you have modified the core files instead of making copies and putting them in your custom override directories, then yes, they will get overwritten.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Re: Define Pages / EZ Pages

Hi Kobra,

I was a little thrown off because the original notes didn't indicate that we needed to follow the CUSTOM rule. I assumed we HAD to modify these files in their original folders since this was defined pages we were playing with. :oops:

I liked the concise format you created the original directions. Would you be able to modify that with the exact file structure, if not for me, for anyone else who may read this so they may avoid doing exactly what I did?

Thanks again for all your help!

Re: Define Pages / EZ Pages

This one is already documented fairly well:

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=36

Just add to it that anywhere there exists a "classic" folder, all "FILES" that exist there can be overriden and placed into a folder named for your template

Re: Define Pages / EZ Pages

Hi Kobra,

Sorry... I meant... The instructions for creating additional define pages may benefit from having the correct structure so when others read it they will know they can follow it verbatim. It's more for that newbie who is taking the posting literally and preventing them from doing what I did.

If I ever get this squared away I'll post what I did to get this created and you let me know what you think. I already noticed that for some reason I need to add...

define('FILENAME_DEFINE_PAGE_5', 'define_page_5');
define('FILENAME_PAGE_5', 'page_5');

in my includes\extra_datafiles\page_5_filenames.php or the content won't appear on the page. It's slightly different than what the article stated. The article only mentioned adding...

define('FILENAME_PAGE_5', 'page_5');

Well good luck to me... I'll keep you posted....

Thanks again for all your input and help. And Kim too!

Re: Define Pages / EZ Pages

dwight,

This is covered well in the about_us module that can be used with alteration to create any page you want.

But truthfully, the easiest is to utilize the ezpages and rename the box title. Replace all defines pages with ezpages and then turn off the information sidebox completely

Re: Define Pages / EZ Pages

Hi All,

Just a quick update on creating additional define pages... A member of this forum PM'd me with an add on called Define Pages Generator. I tried it out and it worked great! It's simple and straight forward. Here is the link to the add on...

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=804

I want to thank everyone who helped with this issue. You really helped shed some light on a topic that was quickly becoming very frustrating for me. Now... The Zen is back in Zen Cart!

Thanks again!
Dwight

Re: Define Pages / EZ Pages

Hello, i am a newbie and i don't totally understand all these modules, so please be patient. I would like to add new pages to my site, i sell furniture in Northern Ireland and would like to have a landing page for N.Irish furniture for SEO purposes. Also i would like to have landing pages about things like may be mattresses. These would be different to category pages and would have links from the side bar on all pages.
I was going to install either the AboutUs module or the Define Pages Generator but do not know which would be best for this purpose.
I would like to have pictures and text and have text liks to the rest of the site and proper page titles and meta tags etc. All suggestions much appericiated. Eunan.

Re: Define Pages / EZ Pages

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but I absolutely love the defines pages generator in the downloads area. It allows you to add pages to your site that you can link to. Similar to EZ pages, but a bit different. I have even made a few "hidden" pages with it that only people with the exact address can access. as far as I know, EZ pages cannot be used that way.

These defines pages get edited the same way your other defines are....admin, tools, defines pages editor.

Re: Define Pages / EZ Pages

How can I define EZ-Page for the specific languages on my site?
It seems that there can only be one page title for all languages.

Am I missing something?

There is a module in the add on that helps you do this

I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

I'll look for it, but do you know what the mod is called?
