How to add new link and a page under 'More information' ?

You can drop all this file editing if you just create the ezpages for all of these different pages - then you can turn off both the information and mor info sideboxes and turn on the ezpages.php side box.

Then all pages are named are you want and are editible in the admin under admin > tools > ezpages

This is copy and paste the current ones into newly created ezpages

I am well versed in the ceation of ez pages, unlike the creation of the extra php pages.

As I said in my first post in the thread, the client was shown the ez page system and does not want to use it. This isn't the first store that I've run into that situation. The others however, I could appease with just an About Us page and one or two more duplicates.

The majority of their pages are going to contain forms that their staff are going to create using an html editor. Thus the need to create physical pages.

S as many of us in this line of work find....When the client says...the client says.

To add the defines pages requires all these edits but if you know prehand the 15 pages names you can assembly line this and only open and edit/create the files once. Like the default install with relatively blank text about where to edit the file...

If my explanation is working for you then I would stick with that . As to your question earlier, do you mean the dropdown in the admin where all the define pages are listed has
define_page_5.php and you want them to actually have the actual page names?

I had that problem to but if you want that sort of changes then its little more involved as you will need to replace every instance of DEFINE_PAGE_5 etc etc in other parts of the code. It can get messy but it is possible.

in places like this

you might have to change the PAGE_5 bit to your page name as well as the php file name from page_5.php to what ever you want.

I needed to add two more pages so decided to do the edits, and copy the page_4 and rename the copies. This is fine and they appear in the define pages editor.

I edited the english.php file and gave them the new names.

However, when I try and go in to configuration/define page status the two new pages are not there.

Please can you tell me which page I need to edit so that I can correct this.

Do a search on page_4 and page_5 in your local hard disk where the files are stored. When you find the folders, duplicate and chage their names to page_6.php and page_7.php then upload them. Should work

OK I think this is the thread. I've been looking for hours and this is the best thread I've found close to answering my question.

With the EZ pages.....

I have existing html (many 100+) and a few existing php ( 30+-) pages which I developed prior to becoming involved with ZC. Now "The Cart" has become the basis for the site and I am tying to incorporate the pre-existing pages. I wanted to use the "Define Pages" or EZ Pages so as to maintain a consistent look and feel to the site.

Here is my "Catch 22"

I think using the EZ Page Internal Link is where I need to go....BUT...
Where (what directory) should I copy my pre-existing files.
How do I determine what the "Internal link" is. The instructions say to get the link info from the browser when viewing the page but if the page is not yet part of ZenCart how can I browse to it to get the "index.php?main_page="

Used the External link but that displays the page "outside" of ZenCart. NOT what I am looking for.

Please someone tell me that I don't have to recreate each page as and EZPage. That is way more copy and paste than I want to think about.

If you must have them addressed as being in the cart - get prepared to cut & paste!! You only require the content of the page and not all the head etc stuff.

Doing so retains the site look automatically with header & footer etc.

An external link can be established as you know but will not necessarily retain the look as it will be that of your page as it is.

Yep kind of though it was heading that way. I do have a nifty program which will strip the body tag and everything outside of it... and a macro program which can then open, select all, copy, close... but was looking for a lazy way.

Only if you are craftier than the cart script!!!:laugh:

If you are going to use ezpages . . you do not have to wait for oavs as you can turn off the default info and more info side boxes and move all of the links that you want to the ezpage side box via internal links and create any new ones using ezpages...

Concat all the pages, strip all the head & meta tags, Use advanced find & replace to replace body tags with all the bool values and sql code, run script and then just go through and sort into chapters!

The next step will be to create an expandable/collapsible tree (probably based on the category tree) to display links to the ezpages instead of the straight list currently available.

I added a few new pages to the More Information Sidebox a few months ago and had no problems. What I did was to search through all of the Zen Cart Files for any reference to page_3, and replicated every reference and file for page_4, page_5 and page_6. I couldn't see the new pages under either 'Define Page Status' or 'Define Page Edito' sections of stockroom to begin with, but I was given a Mysql script by my host at the time, and I inserted this and everything worked fine.

I needed to add one last page this week, and went through the same process. I searched for all references to page_6, replicated these to page_7 and then contacted the host who gave me the mysql script again, but this time even though the page loads correctly, and the link shows up in the 'More Information' Sidebox, and page_7 is listed under 'Define Page Status' in the Stockroom, for some reason, it is not listed under 'Define Page Editor' in the stockroom.

I've checked all of the Zen Cart Files time, and time again, and from what I can see ALL references to page_7 are exactly the same as page_6, page_5, page_4 etc. I have also inserted the following SQL Patch:

Is stockroom suppose to be your template or what?

If so, and you do not see them in the Define Page editor, remember there has to be copies of the files, whether blank or with something in them, in the:
/includes/languages/english/html_includes

otherwise there is nothing to "override" so there is nothing to show in the dropdown ...

Here is a easy quick fix that works open includes/modules/sideboxes/information.php

Add a Link like this:

Find:

if (DEFINE_SHIPPINGINFO_STATUS <= 1) {
    $information[] = '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_SHIPPING) . '">' . BOX_INFORMATION_SHIPPING . '</a>';
  }

this is the first link on the information Box depending on where you want the link in my case I wanted my links first so I add this above the IF statement.

$information[] = '<a href="http://www.yoursite.com/myfile,htm">MY LINK(this shows as the clickable link)</a>';

If you want your link in after the default ones put it after the } on a new line

How that helps ezpages are NOT EASY! this works as a quick fix while like me you learn EZpages

Can someone please help me I've added an extra page in the more information side box. I wanted to have all links that I am related to placed in there instead of using the categories box. So I created page 5- Links

When i go into Defined pages Editior page 5 is there andall the links that I have in the Catalogue Links is on the page 5-Links.

However, when going to the more information box & clicking on the links link it comes up with an error message.

Can someone please help me and tell me how I can fix it.

Without looking at your files I would guess that you are missing a define_page for page 4 or some other page.

I have written a mod to add pages 5, 6 and 7 to the More Information box. Waitng for approval to get it added to the downloads section.

I installed your mod to add pages 5, 6 and 7 to the More Information box.
They are showing on my "Define Page Status" in the administrative panel, but my site doesn't change when I change pages 5, 6 or 7 status (1= Link ON, Define Text ON)...
What could be wrong??
