Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

vitalwares:

Hi,

I already submit a sitemap.xml to google, so will adding this google base feeder do something in addition to this ? If yes please explain exactly what or point to the right place for this info.

Grateful for your time and help on this.

There are different things.

Sitemaps is for google indexing your site to show up at google.com

Google Base Feeder is to insert in Froogle (aka Google Base, aka Google Products, aka Google Shopping) all or the category of prodcust you want to insert in its product comparation site, like Yahoo Shopping

Hope clarifies why 2 different modules

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Just upgrade my Google Feed install, with the hope that it would feed through my sale prices, instead of the original price of the items, however it's still only feeding the original price.

Could someone tell me how to feed the sale price, or at least the price that the customer pays - be it sale price, standard price or specials price etc?

Many thanks!

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

numinix:

hmm, why would your configuration settings have changed? All you had to do was overwrite the files. Anyways, it says to just use a word like "domain." So, in your case just put secret_garden. Then it should create a file called secret_garden_products.xml.

This upgrade made no changes to the code other than to the FTP so there is no reason for it to timeout if the previous version worked for you...

I had this same problem, but the readme file didn't explain this change.

I've now changed the filename in the configuration from feedname.xml to feedname

I also had to reconfigure my Google Base feed on Google, to accept the new file name - feedname_products.xml

As a note, if I use the original cron job (ie, before I upgraded to the latest version), a small xml file is created, with nothing in - feedname_.xml

Because of this, I had to change my cronjob aswell, so it included the &type=products switch at the end.

Just a note to those who have upgraded!

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

The default name for the feed is "domain" not "domain.xml"

I'll add some sanitization in the future to drop .xml on the filename if it exists.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

It used to be "domain.xml", but since the upgrade, it has to be set to "domain" - and then your Google Base account also needs setting up again, to take the new file name, as the feed now exports the file as "domain_products.xml".

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Could you please explain how to change the zen_sanitizer function so that it doesn't strip out double quotes in the title and descriptions? Google doesn't seem to have a problem with double quotes being left in those fields.

Thanks!

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Is it possible to use the Google Feeder with Easy Populate installed?
I'm using ZC 1.3.7.1 and Google Feeder 1.5.3 and Easy Populate 2.76e_R1.

I've set up a Google Base account with FTP.
I've set up a cron task that creates the feed on a nightly basis.
The thing I'm missing is the UPC in the feed file so it is failing.

How do I get the UPC into my product feed? Do I need to make changes to the database to get it in there and if so, how do I do this and do I then need to modify Easy Populate so it accepts the UPC on import of new data?

Thanks,

techgorilla

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

You can use AUCTION SITE ATTRIBUTES to add the UPC to each product. You should also upgrade to the latest version of GBF.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

I have installed today, can create the feed fine but when uploading get this message:

Google Base Feeder v.1.6.7 05.12.2007 12:53:59 started 2008/02/12 16:44:35
Feed file - /data/members/paid/k/u/kutuu.co.uk/htdocs/www/shop/feed/kutuugooglefeed_products.xml
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
Login failed:
Connected to: uploads.google.com
Upload failed...

Is it the username and password? I'm sure they're correct .....

Could it be the name of the feed? In the admin config I put "kutuugooglefeed" and in google base have tried registering it as "kutuugooglefeed" "kutuugooglefeed.xml" "kutuugooglefeed_products" and "kutuugooglefeed_products.xml". None have worked ....

I also tried downloading the xml file created and uploading it manually on the Google website but that told me there were errors with the xml file ... it seemed to be all the first section like the shop name so I cut all that out but now it says line 3 is wrong which just says <channel>

Any help would be great!

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

If I run the upload manually I get a successful upload with

../feed/froogler_products.xml
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
First attempt (passive mode off): Uploaded Successfully

If I run the cron task, I don't get an upload and see...

../feed/froogler_.xml<br />
Processing: Feed - Yes, Upload - No<br />

The Cron task is...

GET ..../googlefroogle.php?feed=yes&upload=yes&type=products

Why would running it under CRON behave like this?

numinix:

Hi tj1,

Sorry, that hasn't been a priority, but I will keep it in mind. My Numinix site has never had over 500 products listed and now that I rely on Google Base even less I probably won't be looking to optimize the module for larger amounts. Actually your script is timing out even though it is still displaying the message. Otherwise, it would having the closing XML tag. I am planning to have an all-in-one script for most of the price comparison websites, including ones I've already released, that will be optimized for larger sites. Honestly though, your server plays a major roll. The script should be ready by early february and will depend largely on other projects that have to be finished first.

News updates will be posted on the Numinix website of what our future and current plans are.

Hi there, just checking to know if this all-in-one price feeder with optimized code is already available.
Is it available for purchase somewhere else?

Thanks

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

hi, I had an older version installed on my 1.3.7 install, but now we we have 1.3.8a - I overwrote all the files, then ran the update, then when I ran the tool - it made 0 products... so I thought I messed something up and ran the uninstall sql script... then I ran the googlefroogle sql file and it opens all the code on a white page and says at the top "1062 Duplicate entry 'GOOGLE_FROOGLE_USERNAME' for key 2"

what can I do to get this working right?

thanks in advance... E
