Apple Zen Support Thread

shapelike:

I double-checked my permissions ... everything from public_html on is 755 for the directory structure, the final rotate.php script in ...images/headers/ is 644. That's the same as my earlier static test page.

I'm not exceedingly familiar with something like this, Id ask in the general questions forum. Perhaps the header.php needs to be changed to init_header.php and loaded into the init_includes/ folder, so that it is loaded with zen cart? I just really don't know, but my guess is that zen cart can't load a php file through an image tag, so putting it in the init_includes may help. But don't follow my advice until seeking help from someone more knowledgeable in the area, because I'm not even positive if that is the init_includes/ folder's function.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

bradymc:

I just downloaded the Apple_Zen template to use with Zen Cart 1.3.7. I love the confirmation roadmap that you have for the checkout process, but it doesn't seem to display correctly in IE. In Firefox it looks fine... One long gray bar with each heading in a row above the bar. But IE... well IE never seems to do things the RIGHT way!

I assume it's just wrapping to the next line because it's a pixel or two too long? Maybe a padding issue?

Thanks for noticing that, you are correct, it is a spacing issue... IE is tacking on more space.

SO, open up all the css files for this mod:

includes/templates/apple_zen/css/checkout_confirmation.css

includes/templates/apple_zen/css/checkout_payment.css

includes/templates/apple_zen/css/checkout_shipping.css

includes/templates/apple_zen/css/checkout_success.css

and change all instances of 25% to 24%.

That'll do the trick! I'll change this in my next release.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Yes, that worked fine. I will warn others that when you go to change those percentages that you're going to find one tag that is 25px. So if you're trying to do a fast search and replace, be careful.

Yep, I searched and replaced, but used "25%" and "24%". :smartass:

Of course! That would be the more logical thing to do! My first response was in :beta:

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

It seems as though the default site-bg-blue.gif has dissappeared from my site. It used to be there. Then it would display for a few milliseconds, but disappear quickly right as the page finished loading. Now I can't see it all.

The image file is still there and the CSS is correct. Any other sugestions for me to look at?

If you wanna take a look, the website location is here.

You're missing the closing </div> for <div id="headerWrapper">. Open up includes/templates/apple_zen/common/tpl_header.php and fix that issue.

Then, since you have a taller logo, you'll need to change the body tag to this:

body {
background:url(../images/site-bg-blue.gif) 0 16em repeat-x;
}

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

I double and triple checked the closing div... manually and with Dreamweaver. I'm not seeing where I'm missing one.

I had exactly the same problem before.
I don't understand why it works but here is what I did:

in the includes/languages/english/apple_zen/header.php

// added defines for header alt and text
  define('HEADER_ALT_TEXT', ' ');
  define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', ' ');
  define('HEADER_LOGO_WIDTH', ' ');
  define('HEADER_LOGO_HEIGHT', ' ');
  define('HEADER_LOGO_IMAGE', 'logo.gif');

put a space between the two " ' " and the background image will appear... try it!

You are missing a closing div. I found it out by checking your site with an HTML validator.

Look again:

<div id="headerWrapper">
  <!--bof-navigation display-->
    <div id="navMainWrapper">
       <div id="navMain">
           <div id="navMainLinks">
              <ul class="back">
                 <li><a href="http://www.toned4life.com/cart/">Home</a></li>
                  <li><a href="https://www.toned4life.com/cart/index.php?main_page=login">Log In</a></li>
              </ul>
           </div><!--CLOSE navMainLinks-->
              <div id="navMainSearch"></div>
       </div><!-- CLOSE navMain-->
    </div><!-- CLOSE navMainWrapper-->
  <div class="clearBoth"></div>
  <!--eof-navigation display-->
  <!--bof-branding display-->
  <div id="logoWrapperOuter">
      <div id="logoWrapper">
          <div id="logo"><a href="http://www.toned4life.com/cart/"><img src="includes/templates/apple_zen/images/logo.gif" alt="Toned 4 Life" title=" Toned 4 Life " /></a>
          </div><!--CLOSE logo-->
       </div><!--CLOSE logoWrapper-->
  </div><!--CLOSE logoWrapperOuter-->

There is no closing </div> for #headerWRAPPER.

I even tested in Firefox with the devloper tools. Adding the closing div fixes your issue.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

OK, after sleeping and letting my eyes rest, I finally see it. But I could've sworn... :smile:

I'd been staring at the screen so long that the code was probably taking on new attributes beyond reality. I'm sure I probably looked like this at the end of yesterday::blink:

Thanks for your help and your patience.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Hmmm... that would mean that there is a missing </div> in my header.php as well?

But I have never changed/edited the file. Why would there be a missing </div> ?? :unsure:

And how does my "remedy" fix the problem too somehow?? :unsure:

Jade, I really like your Apple Zen template. It is by far the most professional looking one I have ever found! Thank you!

Ack! NO, that does not mean you have a missing div. The same issue can have more than one cause.

The way I have includes/languages/english/apple_zen/header.php is the way it is supposed to be. There only needs to be a space between the " ' " for HEADER_LOGO_WIDTH, and HEADER_LOGO_HEIGHT. HEADER_ALT_TEXT and HEADER_SALES_TEXT do NOT have to be blank. You can add back your alt text, and if you want to have text to the right of your logo, you can add sales_text. Of course if you have a wide logo, you should have the sales text blank. Here is the original header.php language file:

// added defines for header alt and text
  define('HEADER_ALT_TEXT', 'Powered by Zen Cart :: The Art of E-Commerce');
  define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', 'To change any of the site colors, open up includes/templates/apple_zen/css/stylesheet.css. To overwrite your own logo, upload your logo.gif to includes/templates/apple_zen/images/');
  define('HEADER_LOGO_WIDTH', ' ');
  define('HEADER_LOGO_HEIGHT', ' ');
  define('HEADER_LOGO_IMAGE', 'logo.gif');

If the space are removed for logo_width and logo_height, then your logo will expand to its "real" dimensions (because then zen cart specifies its height and width-- putting the space stops zen cart from adding the height and width). SO, IF you happen to have a tall logo, then sure, you wouldn't see that striped background, because your logo would be on top of it obscuring it. However bradymc's issue WAS caused by a missing div. Yours was not.

Phew. Hope that is clear now.

Thanks for the compliment on the template, by the way.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

I, too, would like to compliment your template, Jettrue. I guess I got lucky because yours was the 2nd template that I downloaded. After I stumbled upon a template browser for all of the templates available on zen's site, I was dissappointed by the lack of originality. Most of them seemed like they were just some color variation of the original. But Apple_Zen is refreshing. Thanks for sharing your talents and showing the rest of us how templates ought to be made.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

FIstly.. I must heap the obligatory "this roXors!!" compliment.. as has been said a few time. this is such a professional and complete theme. I saw it and there was no further looking needed.

thanks :)

I am however, having a very odd issue. When I originally added the template, I simply copied my logo and all was happy. But, after a few hits & miss's modification wise. My logo decided to take up the full page. I couldn't figure out why so I dumped the template and started again. Yet now the logo insists on being twice is actual size!

This is the logo as it should be http://www.fleshmetal.com.au/137/includes/templates/apple_zen/images/logo.gif

But if you go to my site https://www.fleshmetal.com.au/137 you can see it is mutated.

My header is as follows:

// added defines for header alt and text
define('HEADER_ALT_TEXT', 'Fleshmetal.com.au');
define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', 'Fleshmetal.com.au');
define('HEADER_LOGO_WIDTH', ' ');
define('HEADER_LOGO_HEIGHT', ' ');
define('HEADER_LOGO_IMAGE', 'logo.gif');

Yet if I remove the spaces, or try to hard-code the size it flattens to the correct height, and stays double width. I have cleared the cache to be sure. But, it is still playing havoc with my sense of right and wrong.

Can you suggest where I am going wrong?

Thanks :)

Sometimes the best advice is to tell me I'm not thinking about the problem enough.

Open up your stylesheet, and adjust the logo width:

#logo {
width:19.1em /* To prevent the logo from resizing, simply delete or comment out this section */
}

I think perhaps 10em would be a good width. The template was designed with a wider logo in mind, so the stylesheet is stretching out your logo.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

yep

Thats the one.

Thanks again

My next issue is one I've been leaving till last, but since I am here now. I often have a huge blank space between my top and 2nd attribute:

eg: http://www.fleshmetal.com.au/137/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=106&products_id=143

I don't even know where to start on this one.

Maybe a hint will get the ball rolling :)

The cart is pushing that second one down.

You could try changing the #cartAdd box to an absolute positioned unit, like this:

#cartAdd {
	text-align:center;
	margin:1em;
	border:1px solid #000000;
	padding:1em;
        position:absolute;
        margin-left:65%;
	}
